I seen countless times experienced people joining a battle on the same side of other experienced people rather than joining the noob side. that's fine but your reward should be a fraction of what you would earn if you joined the noobs killing the notorious player.

Well here is where you are wrong, joining the winning side leads to less reward already because you won’t get as much pvp marks for killing a single person. This is why ganking is a bad idea and I avoid doing such because I don’t like not getting as much reward as I could get elsewhere. However fighting outnumbered or even battles gives you more reward than a gank. Most of your average pvper consider ganking as a form of pvp for rewards, which infact means seal clubbing gives less reward vs fighting revenge fleet in outnumbered situations. Take this screenshot for instance, and guess how much reward I got.

From what I'm seeing in all these pictures all of the ships have had the hell beat out of them so my question is, from historical standpoint is not boarding a 4th or 5th or final step in the battle?

Boarding is historically accurate and I'm glad it's in the game, but I don't think it should be a first and only step in the battle.

Was there ever a battle in history where a ship zoomed up to another ship and boarded them and the battle was over in a minute and a half without a single Cannon shot being fired by the attacker?

I just think boarding shouldn't be possible unless defender sails are below 75% and attacking boarding party is at 100%

yes, actually blackbeard was known to board one ship with 3-4 different ships at the same time. there was never a rule of "cant board with 3 knot minimum" lol being boarded by multiple small nimble ships at any speed was a danger to any ship. yes it wasn't done in a minute and a half but yes, boarding is done this way just like in modern times. Somalian pirates zoom up and board in a dingy. could you imagine a frigate? 10 knots is not that fast, the coast guard boards speed boats all the time going way faster than this :D if anything the game for boarding is no where near historically accurate and its a good thing. if the game was historically accurate for boarding, you could board at any speed with crew risk, and multiple ships could board one ship. I don't think you want that do ya? ;)

MMO wise why do you think having the best ships with the best woods be available for marks? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of OW? More so than anything we've seen before?

Whats the difference between me teleporting over a indiaman full of ship materials to build a bellona and someone spawning one in with marks?

well for the most part the only ship you cant get with materials and only pvp marks are the Hermione, wasa and lgv refit. 2 of which are irrelevant and aren't considered the "best" and the wasa is dirt cheap anyway. if cant put in the work to get 30 pvp marks, (two 5th rate kills btw) enough to get the small amount of pvp marks required to get a Bellona then I guess you deserve to build one yourself.

Yes, I believe the victory marks being bought by pvp marks to be used to build 1st rates are a great thing. if these are the "best ships" your thinking of then yes, if you cant sail properly to earn kills for your nation then you don't deserve to build a 1st rate by yourself without paying a great amount of gold for it :)

  4. I gained 61 pvp marks yesterday, I don’t see what the whole problem is about pvp marks. Here’s what I do, I don’t join in on ts/discord. I don’t tell my friends where I’m going. I don’t ask if anyone wants to join me. I sail alone, I get a 2v1 or 1v1, I accept it even if odds are against me. I fight, manage to win, I get a massive reward. It is not hard to find pvp marks, they are everywhere. If it were a 10v1 battle, you wouldn’t get much if not any at all. The pvp mark system is based off of the one ship you killed and is split between whatever extra help you got even if it is AI or fort. Lowering the number of the squad means you share less of reward. Think of it like a bank robbery, you don’t have to compete with anyone in fight for the pvp marks, means ganks are less valuable. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve told my own nation to stay out of a battle I just created to gain more in my favor if I can complete the fight on my own. How many people does it really take to defeat one person? Just one :)

  5. Attacking another nation to hide the main fleet? Sounds like a reason to remove battles in general from the game like they did outlaw battles for the same reason. 😂

@adminany other excuse for removing outlaw battle that’s open for 45 minutes vs this exploit that is open for 3 minutes? I find this one worse than the outlaw battle “exploit” atleast you could join the battle in outlaw battle and see what’s going on or where it is located to ambush them when they get out. This one just disappears after 3 minutes and a whole fleet of 25 is gone.

  6. Actually if a 4th rate in real life encountered 2-3 6th rates it would fear being boarded because real life doesn’t allow 1 ship at a time for boarding or 3 knot speed to climb on board. In real life the 6ths would have a fighting chance. So this argument about a “real life scenario” in game won’t work. 6th rates have purpose, to harass and be underestimated in battle. 2 snows can easily take on a 4th rate. 2 skilled snows can take down even the most skilled 4th rates. There isn’t enough 6th rate hunters in game, but they have their place right now and currently I enjoy it. No reason a 6th rate captain can’t have their fun because a 4th rate captain doesn’t think it should be allowed. Realistic does not have a place for this since the games combat is 50/50 on realism anyway.

  7. With the recent removal of the outlaw battles, I can see why developers decided to remove it. I can’t blame them. However I have a suggestion. The best part of being a pirate is the freedom to do whatever you want. I liked the ability to have rival pirate gangs and the ability to keep pirates away from a place you are hunting at by killing them in an outlaw battle, such as marking your territory and keeping the hunting ground under your control. Why not bring clan vs clan battles under pirates? Where it can be only 1 clan vs another clan outside the pirates reinforcement zone. Say I am a pirate and I wanted to hunt and establish my pirate raiding zone in the french territory and I operate out of aves and I discover in combat news that there is another pirate hunting in the waters taking my potential targets from me, then the hunt is on. The hunter becomes the hunted and I could rally up my clan to fight this other clan raiding in the area we claimed as ours.

Would make things interesting and would allow tests on clan wars like what was brought up before. Just a suggestion, give it some thought, let’s hear everyone’s  opinions 😀
