Pretty sure it means a high security space... err waters like in EVE where players can actually do their own thing without too much worry.

Sounds like a good idea. New players have to start somewhere and if they don't get their own seperate area to start in peace then this might be the best solution. There have to be many reasons to encourage leaving the safe waters tho. I never played EVE but it sounds like it was / is a pretty good and successful game so i don't mind them taking inspiration from it as long as it doesn't add to the grind.

I hope they make legends somewhat realistic and make lines a valid tactic in opposite to NA where it's all about boarding and raking

You do realise boarding was a pretty effective if you had the superior manpower / actual soldiers ( ingame marines ) on your ship over the other? Also raking was even used most famously at the Battle of Trafalgar where the HMS Victory under the command of admiral nelson raked the bucentaure to devastating effect. It's only logical and realistic that if you give another ship the chance to rake you, it's pretty effective since you left your weakspot exposed and his guns fire through the whole length of your ship ( with the correct angle ).

I don't know what people you're playing / sailing with but sailing in line is a valid tactic in SOL battles already... most likely it will be the opposite and in legends you'll be thrown into a battle with randoms who have no clue about tactics and it will be all about raking and boarding...

Some upgrades arent expensive, some are extremely expensive. Im talking of millions. And if I dont use them my chances of survival in an even fight are low.

Then why is there so little pvp? /s

Just because everyone wants a Copper Plating and a Bovenwinds Refit doesn't mean everyone deserves one.

Just because some ( unacceptable remark removed ~ keep dialogue and discussion clean of derogatory adjectives ~ mod team ) has the time to grind pve for days and is willing to throw away his life like this doesn't mean real pvp players should have to roll without copper plating or have to pay ridiculous prices. This korean style mmo gear grind garbage really doesnt belong in a game that clearly aims for a more mature audience.

The biggest issue of PvP is the fear of losing ships. It's not durabilities, it's not ganking, it's that players are scared to lose ships and if they equip their ships with mods worth 2-3m gold, they are scared even more and won't risk. Upgrades have to high of a value, so do cannons and ships.

So much this. I want ships to have value - otherwise sinking a enemy ship just doesnt feel like you've accomplished something and you could just make ships impossible to lose instead - if your ship sinks you get it back in port. Real problem is upgrades exceeding the worth of ships multiple times and people being even more afraid of going to pvp because they could lose it all. Well this and the endless repair garbage system that has to be resupplied every time and turns most battles into a dull and boring chore.

Dont forget some changes for the repair system, please. I beg you, dont forget it.

Unlimited repairs are the reason i don't even bother looking for pvp anymore. It's unrealistic, turns battles into a cheesy repair fest and prolongs battles unnecessarily and the best part is when i run out of repairs ( which is the case most of the times because i wouldn't want to overload ) i have to find new ones, often meaning sailing all the way back to my nations ports - yeah sounds super FUN. Also concerning all the whining about expensive ships - the repairs are whats really expensive considering you pay / use them even if you're winning ( so every battle that isnt ganking ) . It's just absolute useless rubbish. One repair for each (sail, hull, crew) was way better.

Most of the players run from fair and even fights. They want to have superiority and then they want to fight. That's a huge issue that's inside the heads of players. NO RISK AT ALL.

Well, pretty much this and i can't even blame them looking at the current risk vs reward when comparing pvp to pve... but it was always like this even with multi duras. Cowards will play like cowards no matter how cheap or expandable their ships are. It's not about losing the ship, it's losing the fight that they can't handle... There isn't even enough pvp to be had to lose ships faster than you can afford building / buying them, unless you don't know what you're doing and then that is the problem and not the ships.

But yeah i don't know why pvp can't get higher rewards to encourage it more ( also skillbooks / upgrades like pve would be nice ), it seems only logical? Nobody can argue how much more rewarding ( not in terms of fun but time/gold,xp,upgrades etc. ) and risk-free pve is over pvp...  the ship knowledge alone on higher rates is impossible to max out before 2022 only with pvp.

players always requested to keep them up to date with future changes. Doomed if you don't/Doomed if you do?

Very true. Some will always complain no matter what  It is true tho, that many players always stop playing when a map reset is announced and only come back after it happened...

since apparently all pvp is considered ganking

It is when you are only hunting traders.

I'm showing off something that is equal to the playstyle of @King of Crowns. Now prove me wrong.

And this matters for the fort balance in OW how exactly? Forts hinder small scale pvp but have much less effect against a gank fleet... thats why they should be removed from most ports but enabled to be bought by clans so they can build up defenses in their ports but for a price so they whole map isnt littered with fortifications disrupting pvp even at some backwater port.

For a little over a year now, the pirate clan BLACK, has been the source of 90% of activity in pvp 2 or global. Now that population is falling faster than ever before with peak numbers of 115, I wonder what would happen if we just "vanished". I have to say that the lack of large engagements or ganks  as the only source of pvp, really took a toll on our numbers and population as well.

Possibly we'll come back if changes are made but there is nothing the developers can do about "bad" population that play in global. History repeats itself and again, now that they sense that BLACK is gone all the 1st rates and Bellonas start coming out again. Where were they before?!

This just goes to say, enjoy your pve server. I blame this whole thing on the US and GB.

LOL Blame us and not the developers? Okey dokey, sir, have a nice time.

And with all 109 posts of yours it sure seems like you personally did a smashing job giving feedback to the dev's through this whole process.  But overall, you and the rest of BLACK have done a real bang up job as testers and players, because surely the seal clubbing and borderline exploit RVR behavior couldn't have had anything to do with making the game a ghost town?

Apparently all towns have forts. Some places looks like Maginot Line. This is just total madness, not forgeting all dread fleets of 25 SOLs in one fleet just passing by... That's why so many PvP'rs are camping Free Towns. Very little fleets if none at all, no forts, no towers. Traders love free towns for income. But is ambushing traders at free towns really that kind of PvP that we want?

With the new conquest system, I say that clans need to crowd-fund coastal defenses. For example pay 10m gold for fort and they need to pay upkeep costs of it each week or so to maintain it in good condition. Towers might be 5m gold. Fleets around could be hired too, but if none are hired, there should be very little and few fleets.

I like this idea alot. This should be in game already...

The problem with 1 rep is it creates a desail meta, where people sit at range and chain sails and the first person who has to rep loses. You can't afford to get in close with ball without using your only rep.

Sounds like they should limit chain shot then? As suggested multiple times?

  14. I really don't know why they went with the stupid cd for repairs... 1 repair for each per battle was really more realistic, fair and balanced. This endless repair spam bullshit turned some battles into a cheesefest and did nothing but slow battles down even more... The worst about it is how it is yet another mechanic that hurts pvp. People are harder to catch than ever when they just spam rig repairs and if you fight against the odds like 1v3 it's even worse now since they can take turns with damage dealing and repairing... absolute rubbish.
