Master Forger should give a clean slate but I would love to have a reputation system in game: a reputation system by players about players. Sort of a 19th century Yelp.

Yet again, problem with Rules of Engagement.
If attacker side is lower BR than defender, shouldn't the battle be closed after regular initial period?
It doesnt matter who the attacker is. If one side has a BR (I think 13%) lower, that side can be reinforced.

So when did pirates lose the ability to attack other pirates, they certainly have the ability to join both sides of an ongoing battle, nations dont.
Let’s say the ongoing battle is Dutch vs Russia... Pirates can join either side. While I understand the theory behind this, it causes more problems than it is worth because Pirates in all other ways operate like a regular nation.
If the battle is Pirates vs Another Nation, Pirates can only join the Pirate side.
Pirates have not been able to attack other Pirates in OW for what? A year or more?

Up until a couple months ago 10-14 players was all that was needed for most PBs, including shallows. Now....not so much.
Yep. And sailing with smaller groups, imo, is most fun.

I'd like to see that 'good size' of US and AUS tz players.. I'd wager we're talking no more than 10-14 players and half of those can't even crew a first rate.. What have we learned from timer-dodging? - Well one thing for sure... PURG3 is a bunch of cowards and by affiliation so is the rest of Sweden.
The sad truth is for almost all of this game’s history a nation or clan that could consistently get 10-14 players to sail and fight together during US/AUS timezone is pretty rare. Our numbers are just different during that time.

Hello devs,
I'm a new player and buyed this game yesterday. I want to play but… server update.
Why ? approximately how long ? No information at all on the game launcher and on this forum. I understand that patches and updates are required but i don't understand why users are not informed on updates times, on what is updated and i'm wondering when i can play this game! Please devs, don't make the mistake to not communicate with your customers...
If you are in game before the regular maintenance time, you will get warnings on your screen at 30 minutes prior, 15, -- and I believe -- 5 and 1 minutes. Each will advise you to finish what you are doing and log off. It will also give the estimated down time. If you don't log out prior to the shutdown, you will be in where you were next time you log in except if you were in battle, you will be in Open Water.

This would be an excellent stat. At least in more modern history warship success was effectively shown in tonnage sunk. This would do similar.

We can see who takes out or puts in money and resources, please add officer promotion log: who promoted whom? It would be nice to be able to investigate when a clan gets robbed.

After transferring crew and repairs, hit ESC to leave the boarding screen. The repair does work. 5 key brings up repair and 2 selects sails as what to repair.
And by the way, after the tutorials, don’t get immediately hung up trying the exams, especially the last two. Although you can try, they are probably going to be really frustrating right Le. They are not designed for someone to move straight on to right after the tutorials.

they are counted
pvp hunts are affected by port battles. But there is one disclaimer. If you have already killed this steam ID in this hunt mission you do not get the rewards. This feature drastically reduced farming and exploiting. Apologies for the inconvenience.
This sounds like a good compromise feature. I was wondering if it applies only to a specific mission. For example, the other day I killed a player in his 6th rate. That counted in my 6-7 rate PVP mission. He jumped out for revenge in his Herc and I killed him again. I didn’t notice whether it did or didn’t but should this have counted in my 5th rate PVP mission?

Aggressive friendly AI within port control waters helping protect the port “sounds” like a good thing. However I am highly skeptical that the right balance can be achieved. We don’t have a very good record on balancing in this game.

I can’t say I agree with the action: I would prefer a subscription model, no DLC, and everything available to all players through in game effort. But it’s been obvious they are headed towards making DLC purchases the only way to play the game without losing your mind (and every waking hour).

I always check the bathroom first if looking for a magazine. I wish I knew where it was on the ships as well.

I like the suggestion but see a few problems if this is applied to player ships.
A ship that is still afloat is still alive. If not tagged within 1:45 it can simply escape.
A ship that is still alive can repair and become a problem for you again.
I don’t foresee an auto-surender function ever getting the threshold right in a way that pleases the player pop.
So, you’re faced with changing a pretty big mechanic (when one can leave battle) in order to implement.
I agree there should be a mechanic to encourage a captain to surrender and save his crew’s lives. Have AI auto-surrender and provide the player captain who surrenders an XP bonus perhaps? Something like a multiple of the damage he dealt.

I would say that would be more like a 5 dollar one, but that is not a lot of repairs, though some one could just redeem every day until they have a big stack of them.
Right. I pictured an inexpensive DLC that only obtained a few repairs. Something to get you back on the water. Someone posted that they had seen repairs at most ports they visit. That hasn’t been my experience.
Let me state: I would much prefer there be a vibrant economy where selling repairs was a good option. Hell I’d prefer no DLC, no dropping mods, and no port bonuses. Everything player made. But it appears that’s not what the Devs want.
Anyway, the best option, better than my suggestion of a few DLC repairs, is “unfix” the “bug” so that repair manufacture gives some level of craft XP.

Before you immediately say “No! Are you crazy!” just consider it for a second.
DLC for significantly less than $10 which can be redeemed once per day and gives you 20 Hull, 20 Rig, and 150 Rum. Just enough to get you back out on the water for a battle.

Welcome and best of luck!

Hire players to escort.
Get friends to do it for free.
Have the rank and slots to keep your own AI escort fleet. Get rich slower until you can do this
The OPs suggestion is a solution without a problem.

It would be nice to turn them back into Combat Medals (marks) like we used to be able to do. I agree that it won't be long until we are all swimming in them.
Which would be a good thing. The price will lower for those of us who get few and it will open up more content for more people.

Noticed that once ports have all their bonuses set up there's very little to no more use for Victory marks? Considering it's the reward the game gives for winning RvR battles it should continue to be a very useful item.
My suggestion is to please make it so players can buy ship permits from the admiralty shop with Victory marks as well as with combat marks. It would make victory marks far more relevant in the long term, and useful for people that don't need port bonuses or play without a clan. You’ll find plenty of buyers for your useless VM (at the right price) but also consider that you may need to rebuild the port or improve another one in the future.

I have currently jumped back into the PVP server after release, but the only Mates I have that play are on the PVE server.
Can I have a captain on both servers, and if so, can I use the DLC's I own on each, or are they restricted to one or the other?
For example, cooldown for using one of the DLC ships is I think 24 hours, If I use it on the PVP server, do I have to wait 24 hours to use it on the PVE server? / If I redeem a DLC on the PVP server, can I also redeem it on the PVE server
DLC are redeemable on both servers and you can have a captain on each. XP, mods, rank, etc are specific to each server.

I appreciate the explanation. Do you think the rewards matter when the damage numbers required to reach meaningful rewards are the same as for line ships? 5th rates in Shallows don't output such numbers. People typically quit at 20k or 70k damage level, in the same amount of time that a line ship can reach 200k+.
Honestly if they are going to have PVP bonus areas I think the awards should be insane. Definitely lower reward level requirements for shallows. Also increase the bonus rate for damage dealt to players.
-
I disagree with the increase duarabilty for the patrol zone. You are already rewarded with extra combat medals (and XP bonuses?) for all activity in the patrol zone. THAT is the payment for participating there with its increased danger.

You're showing how naive you are about how this game is played and how fleets are built. Now I don't know what the French have been doing but just because you "in principal" could build and lose a first rate... Lol
It doesn't take just one first rate for a pb. How many can you build a day? Only 1? What if the others give you labor contracts? Sorry, they are using their labor to get the materials. Can't you just buy labor contracts? Sure. In doubloons. But wait, aren't you using your doubloons to get enough shipyards for your war? Hopefully no one in your small nation is doing anything other than working towards this singularly focused goal of building a first rate fleet.
I'm not saying it can't be done. It has. Already. In recently published numbers we saw that only TWO nations had produced a significant number of first rates. Kudos to them. They obviously have the right people, the right ports, the right ALTs, and the right plan. But for you to just dismiss the effort required... Well, you sound like you haven't a clue.
