The map is split up in tiles of 256x256 pixels. Five tile set are used at different resolutions (depending on the zoom level). The browser has to load the tiles from cache or network at least once to display. Loading takes time as you can see in your video. After being loaded the tiles are kept in memory and are displayed more or less instantly. I will check how to preload the tiles. Might not be feasible though. Work around for now: move slowly and be patient- 1,326 replies

Test version with a grid layer available at https://na-map-test.netlify.com. Planned changes: Grid will be shown only at a certain zoom level (when the port names are shown).
