  1. Quiberon Bay. Lots of reefs and shoals and maybe the home team has better local knowledge.
  2. I like the idea of training our crews, I like it even more, if our favorite crewmen have a chance of dying in battle. I'm not a big fan of allocating exp points, that's a real immersion killer for me. For example, If I spend my own money on powder and shot and use that powder and shot to exercise my crew, I would want them to get better at gunnery, I wouldn't want to earn an exp point to allocate to sailing skill.
  3. Some little touches, I'd like to see in the game. Blue lights, to signal over the horizon ships. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_light_(pyrotechnic_signal) Coming-up glass telescope, to see if the chase is getting away. http://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/14786440508562460?journalCode=tphm12#.UuCtJxDTmUk Really long pennants blowing in the breeze. What little touches do you gents want to see?
  4. You are correct, sir. If the game engine tracks the ball to the rudder or the wheel, then it doesn't need some luck generator. I hope the game is physics based, then luck can be provided by the real world.
  5. I think luck should be a factor, luck is very realistic. One shot can take out the foremast or a rudder and leave a ship unable to maneuver.
  6. Baltimore Clippers....please Like the Vigilant http://www.blytmann.com/vigilant.htm Coastal gunboats, would be nice, too.
  7. From my limited perspective, I would want tacking to be a dangerous risk, depending on what type of ship you were sailing and the sailing skill of your crew. A Captain who spent more time training his crew as sailors might beat a Captain who spent his time training his crew as gunners or visa versa. Perhaps a slider..... Arcade mode <----------------> Realistic mode.....If 2 arcade mode players meet, they can fight arcade style. If "Arcade kid" meets "Realistic old codger", then the battle is in realistic mode.
  8. I don't think the 3rd person view should be higher than your tallest mast and shouldn't stray too far from your ship. Spectator view should be delayed and there should be a battle recorder like Warthunder, to be reviewed after the fact.
  9. She's the one! I don't even need lifetime insurance, but I'll take it.
  10. As long as it is skill based combat, I don't want to grind for months and research wiki's to get a competitive ship.
  11. The wind and the waves, the working of the ship, the distant gunfire were great. The close up gunfire and explosions seemed kind of muffled, I'd like them sharper. I don't know if it can be done, but if there is a way, through stereo, to indicate which way the wind is blowing, left to right/right to left, I think that would help sailing.
  12. Desolation Island, may be the best. Good non-fiction; "The Odyssey of the Essex" by Frank Donovan. I like the Time-Life book series (The Seafarers) "The Frigates", "Fighting Sail" and others. Lots of good pictures and even words for the learned coves.
  13. Just a few captain's quarters is better than no quarters.
  14. Howdy all. This game could be awesome, I'll trade all my Star Citizen ships for just one Constitution class frigate.
