  1. As one that remembers well PotBS, I couldn't have put it better. I'd be staying pirate and pretty happy about it. I would just suggest that any big changes to pirates be made before the official release (though I don't think they'll happen, from Admin's point of view), because if they happen after the release, then all hell will surely break loose. I think limiting at least crafted 1st and 2nd rates and getting us restrictions on diplomacy would be a nice start already. I'd rather have those restrictions and some fun perks than be part of a nation, but again thats just me. Here's to hoping, anyway.
  2. The queue I got was out of sync, had random numbers and timers popping up.
  3. Yes, me and three friends are having the same problem. Two of them were in battle and as soon as the battle ended, the connection was lost and none of them cant login. I was offline and couldnt join either.
  4. I would suggest you guys offer some form of trials sometime so people can test it for a bit, maybe 7 or 15 days before they buy. The only reason I would advise against the free to play model is alts and because that would surely ruin the economy.
  5. Both your points are good and, to be perfectly honest, I'd be happy to see it done the right way and enjoy that too, the problem is that once Early Access is on, most people won't have your legit mindset and might do a lot of harm to the game. Exactly. In my point of view, though, we'd rather have 50 players doing that instead of 500. The company also benefits while mitigating the problem.
  6. It has been said that they are leaning towards one national character and one pirate, so it seems that you won't be disappointed. I didn't grasp your point here. We don't have skillsets and no ship restrictions per class, nothing like that. More exploits possible this way. Ganking unrealistic and absurd tactics, trading exploit fest and so on. Personally, I think that the current possibility of getting lost and having to plan your travels is an appeal to the game, that's me, though. There's also the teleport funtion, albeit limited. You have a point, but on the other hand, if my faction makes an alliance with France and I can get in their ports and buy whatever I want, sell whatever I want, take part in their battles and so on, why would I bother making a french character and leveling him, if it'll add nothing at all? Plus, down the road, people would use this mechanic to build cross teaming characters, exploiting diplomacy changes.
  7. Considering the travelling time in NA, it could still be used for other exploits, trade, scout (long distance, with an expendable character based somewhere else) and so on.
  8. Yes, you're right, I gave it a second thought but didn't edit it. Not only accuracy wise, but people with custom sails would probably make a carnival out of it.
  9. I didn't check any numbers and might be writing nonsense, but the feeling I had was that it was the rank advance (xp amount) that was too easy from midshipman up to post captain. From there onwards it seems about right. The main point however, imho is to keep the smaller ships useful in the long run (ie. the shallow water battles).
  10. I am not sure how the economy is supposed to work but if we'll have to go physically from port to port to trade and check prices and so on, that could lead to some easy exploits as well. Also there's the jumping back and forth between characters to do nothing but scout on enemy positions, that kind of metagame. If we'll have some sort of auction house to see all ports (which I'm not very fond off, to be honest), then I think it would have a lesser impact.
  11. I think you guys could also consider some custom sails / flags further ahead for the shop, maybe some very nice premade ones or those uploaded by players (for guilds, neutrals, pirates etc), with a small fee for implementation, and previous evaluation by the staff to make sure it is accurate / fitting, like it was in potbs, although they used to let some pretty awkward stuff pass sometimes. Thats something guilds would surely pay for, although to be honest I am not quite certain about the accuracy issues it could bring.
  12. Would make no difference if its cosmetic only, like a unique frigate skin that goes into a frigate skin slot or a clone with a different skin and so on. I would gladly pay for a favourite and wouldnt mind not having access to the other ones. Interesting enough to get a lot of purchases and not detrimental to the game at all.

The only concern I have with NA is not about NA per se, but the players, aka x-teaming. If game labs can manage to keep that at a minimum, either through one character per account or any other way, I'm positive itll be far superior.
  14. I also believe in one character per account, if someone wants to play an alt, they´d have to at least buy a second account, supporting the game a bit further. From past experiences, multiple characters per account will probably lead to a severe hit on the economy down the road, not to mention the problems already posted.
  15. I have been on and off the site for quite some time now, I saw I missed the January sale, is there any way I can purchase it, or perhaps a certain date I should be looking for?
