RNGOD is back in crafting. What a sad day

As long as the "Special" trims only provide small boni, i dont think it is an issue. The perm slots stuff is not that bad either since, no matter what, you always will have 3 slots. (Yes, 5 slots is better ofcourse).

Hopefully all these mods and stuff will slowly reach levels where having 1-2 extra only makes a small difference.

  2. Hey guys.

If you get a "Special" Trim on a crafted ship i request that you post the information here, in the following format:

    Name of trim.
    Wood types (Planking/Framing).
    Name of crafted ship.
    Port you crafted it in.
    Region you crafted it in.

I will make a spreadsheet containing the information.
+ I will make a list in this topic explaining the bonus of each "Special" trim.

    Cheers.
    Tommy.

  3. +1.

This seems to happen a lot more often now than it used to.
It is very frustrating because when i see someone shooting ball, i do not worry to protect my sails from damage... Hope its fixed asap!

Oh no, I get that.  I sail solo almost exclusively.

I'm wondering what he's doing sailing solo, because everything he's suggesting seems to belong to a bizzarro-land of "Make sailing solo easy."

Partly it seems to me he just wants more control over the fleet ships when in battle. I hate fleet ships but at the same time, if they are in the game they might as well be done properly.

And the "Fleet Tow" thing after battle, i wouldn't mind personally. I've only been a few days and i still absolutely despise the fact that if i go hunting, i better have 3-5 hours available.
(If i get caught by an enemy, and then manage to escape, he can just keep tagging me till i give up because i have real life stuff to do.)
It really sucks, escaping an enemy fleet only to be tagged again when you get out. Then escape again, get tagged again. Over and over till i either run out of repairs or simply turn around in a suicide mission because i need to sleep, make dinner, feed the children, go to work/school or whatever else it might be.

So being able to, at the very least, send a captured ship or a fleet ship back to port after a battle wouldn't be a bad thing in my mind.

Maybe we should talk russian only, like the japanese developers do - never speaking a word in english to the community even though they could so people never misinterpret their statements.

Admin.. That will only make it worse, it won't help in any way.
Sometimes you misinterpret what we say too, it is a very normal thing when people from all over the world talk to each other.
If someone in the community (Myself or someone else) misinterpret what you say, try not to go on defensive mode.
Stay cool, calm and try to explain what you mean exactly.

I promise you, i will do the same from now on. (And maybe others will also, i hope!).

    Good example;
    - Earlier in this topic, i posted this:

    - My opinion; Small wind changes are great, but wind turning 180 in 10 minutes is ridiculous. (I know its not 180 in 10 minutes, but it is too extreme now which is my point.)

When i make this comment, i thought i make very clear when i say "Wind turning 180 in 10 minutes" i did not mean it exactly.
I'm not sure exactly how much the wind turns, and how often it turns. But it turn very much and very often. Writing 180 in 10 minute just is arbitrary numbers.

But, we i am from Denmark, you are from Ukraine. Neither of us are native english speaker and you misunderstand my statement.

it does not turn 180 and never did
it does not turn every 10 mins as well

So when you wrote this, i got really frustrated because like i said, in my head i very clearly did not mean it turn 180 in 10 minutes.
Instead of be frustrated i should just have stayed calm and explain like i did now.

So i will apologize for not answer in polite way.
In future, i will try stay calm and explain again what i mean, in polite way.

    ------
This is all off-topic, i know. But i write as answer to your idea of only speak russian from now on. :)

(I'm not trying to be a dick here, but you read only half of my comment and then respond...  Hard to have proper discussion when you do that.)

the sailing is better man but compare connie with other ships :)

That is what i'm saying babe. I've not tested more than 2 ships so i have no clue if it is balanced or not. But for sure the sailing model just feels much better.

A great many of us would love to have storms and the potential damage that an angry sea can throw at helpless ships.  Great sailing ships are synonymous with storms at sea.  I imagine that sailors were far more afraid of the sea that they were were of the enemy's cannon.

But other players are here only to fight.  Nasty weather interferes with combat.  Aiming is more difficult and any damage from powerful waves can meddle with the balance of competitive fairness of PvP.  When we had damage free storms previously some players hated them.

I had hoped that we might restrict the risk of storms to specific areas, where foul weather might pull us into an instance.  Fighting against the elements would be a huge enhancement to those of us that enjoy sailing and immersion.  Other areas could be free of storms to allow players to avoid the high winds.

But I understand that storms with damage are too difficult for the NA engine and they will never be implemented.

The problem i remember from Sea Trials, regarding storm battles, was that it was just played too much. It felt like 50% storm battles, 50% calm sea battles. Too much of something good will make it bad usually.

  9. I use Nvidia Shadowplay (Comes with Nvidia GPU's). Works perfectly and doesn't seem to take any noticeable performance when recording.

Before that i've used Fraps, that was like 5 years ago though so i don't know if its still the same. It was the simplest recording software i ever saw, and again it didn't seem to take any noticeable performance when recording.

I hope this problem is corrected soon. Demasting should not be nearly as easy as it is.

Do away with unlimited sail reps and we can start talking about tweaking demasting again.

PS. Tac you lovely man, well done! I'll have to look through my screenshots, unfortunately i tend to delete screenies after a few months. :(

Hmm, you still need 1,5x BR to win and if small ships play it smart and the big ship protects them its a pretty risky tactic imo.

Even then, only having to kill half of the enemy BR before your able to run away is not how it should be in my opinion. With focus fire you can sink 1-2 smaller enemy ships quite fast, but alas, your ships might be heavily damaged by then.

Anyway, i just want clear clarification here. Is it allowed or not allowed?

  12. Maybe i missed it, but the real question remains unanswered doesn't it?

Is running away after securing points a valid tactic?
    - Furthermore, where does the line go between running and defensive fighting?

If running is allowed i'm to say we might see a meta of really fast hard hitting ships with the ability to perform hit&run tactics. Basically hit the ship that will be the easiest to kill and then run away for the rest of the fight.

(I mean no offense to anyone. I haven't seen the fight which is being discussed, i'm just an interested party looking for clarifications on the rules.)

I am wondering if there are any others with a known issues for Naval Action running your PC hot.

I'm wondering if it's on my end, or if there is a way to optimize Naval Action.
I am currently planning to get a heatsink for my CPU though.

    Hey Teutonic!

As some have pointed out i'm going to go ahead and say that it is your thermal paste which has stopped working properly.

You don't have to be tech savy or anything to be able to replace the thermal paste on your own. Just make sure you are careful when removing your CPU Fan and the old thermal paste. I dare say though, be even more careful when putting the CPU Fan back in place ;) (I've had a few mates crack their CPU in half when doing this... Brute force is not the way to go lol.)

Also, if it is the thermal paste your computer should be running at higher temperatures all the time. Even when just sat idle on the desktop.

    Update:

Tournament room has been brought back - Will use that one from now on (luckily there are only 2 battles done so far).

PM me when you got a date for a battle with another team and we will see which ref. can make it. :)

We should definitely redo those 2 battles though @Liq. Tournament room makes everything 100% fair :P

Just kidding ofcourse, though not really :( 2 Excellent fights with the wrong outcome in my opinion (No Bias!)

How many of us actually discovered the hidden island because we were actually exploring rather than because someone told us a direction to sail / coordinates to go to?

    I did! :P

Back then i was in TDA. I don't remember the exact story but basically i was told some "rumours" and then i set out on my journey to find "The Hidden Island".

I did a grid search trying to find it, alas after 25-30 hours i had still not found it. I gave up but had to, for a reason i don't recall, sail to Bermuda. After 45 minutes or so i got impatient and changed my course slightly, 15 minutes later i saw land. I yelled out (On TS) "I FINALLY REACHED BERMUDA!!!" (Something along those lines). When i went to find the port is when i realised; I had not found Bermuda... No, i had found something much greater! "The Hidden Island"!!!

It was glorious, but ofcourse the only reason the island was truly "hidden" back then is because only 1-2 people had found it before me, and they had mostly kept their mouth shut. It was seriously one of the greatest experiences i've had in NA OW that has nothing to do with combat. From that point on great lengths were taken to keep it a secret. And secret it was, for a few months atleast :P
