What will people do once they have a 1st rate?

Recommended Posts

1st rates have their place in a line battle or PB but the reality is you may never sail anything larger than a 3rd rate, maybe a 2nd in the OW simply due to the inability to fight 1v1 or 2v2 in such large ships. They are certainly worth using if you wish to assist your nation fleets in larger engagements but I have yet to see anything larger than a 3rd rate. I wish there was major battles you could enter just to be in awe of the largest vessels afloat as they go head to head with the opposition.

exactly, the are for a reason called Ships of the LINE. :)

Since potbs is quoted a fair bit (so is eve but a detest that game enough I am ignoring it) I will lay out a situation for you guys. I played potbs for years, and I loved it for awhile. Each time they changed the eco/regs for getting a 2nd or 1st rate though a bit of the shine left until I neither had what I used to strive for nor the interest to strive for it.

why sail a first Rate anyway? To slow to Trade, To slow to catch anything.

I guess Guild will have 1st and 2st Rate's parked in Ports for Wars. But i doubt it woud be usefull on a daily business. You got Frigates wich are Fast and can deliviery a good punch.  And outrun every 1sat or Second rate.

Maybe the 1st Rate will turn into "Titans" Like in Eve. it good to have them, but you only use the if Shit hits the fan and with an Escort.

I mean if me and like 5 Buddies in a Trinco's or Conny run into a Single enemy 1st rate.. :ph34r:B)

And remember - Just because somebody gets to a first rate doesn't mean they should always sail one.

TBH 9/10 people who sail them in larger matches are a liability.

This is truly a game where you can move up to your own personal level of incompetence.

I reached that point when they gave me something bigger then a dinghy. :P
