  1. Uploaded new version with some minor fixes and port markers with more visibility with colours. Naming of Virgin Islands reworked too and I remove the letters of nationality in every port, now they are only for colors. (Sorry, when I made that I didn't think about colour blind people).

  2. I like this and I wiil add some ideas.

     

    If you earn enough admiralty points you can choose of a range of ships.

     

    Maintain the option for choose a inferior ship anytime.

     

    Prize gold of captures add to base salary.

     

    When you capture a ship, you have the option for Admiralty gives you the command that ship. More rank, more probability and add bribe modifiers to it.

     

    Bribe with your own gold dockyards for a little better equipment ship. Bribe recruitment office for a little better crew members and bribe admiralty for a little better command or missions given.

     

    For a pirate or privateer, maintain mainly the actual system and add the option for privateers can join in some Navy battles changing admiralty point with gold if you want.

  3. Had you seen that adhesives or stickers for FPS games you can put fixed in your screen. I am thinking about a transparent plastic with marks in it. Using external camera (for cheating avoid the movement of sea) and align the botton of screen with horizont or some mark. The movement of the sea is the variable that it makes an art of navigation skills and some randomness.

     

    Sorry for my mess of ideas, I don't know exactly but I am having a brainstorm. Don't reply me too severely please ;) I only needs a stress pill lol

     

    PD, my map has  grid too with 10k increments, but in the version all non RAE people have is censored info ;)

  4. I want to know if the stars texture is fixed or if it moves with the player eye. If it is fixed to land-sea maybe we can measure the angle between horizont to a star and calculate the position. We need to know the height from sea surface to stars texture. Not real, but it is a way to calculate position without press F11.

     

    Imagine that the game world is a box with textures inside. The bottom is the sea and land and the top cover is the stars texture. You can pick a star and calculate the elevation angle you see it and know where you are. We need a tool for know that angle. If the top cover's star texture moves with time like the sun is more difficult calculate but it is possible. But if the top cover moves with every of us, then it is not possible.

     

    And for navigation using my map, I grab a pencil or other straight stuff in my desk, and put paralel at one of the lines, then I move the pencil over my screen maintain paralel to one of bearing lines over my position. I don't need program apps for that and it works for game fine. Sometimes the simplyest things are the fastest and most effective lol.

  5. If you put that compass only 180º  from the bottom of screen you can have double size.

     

    But I think that the compass must be imprecise to see or little and with few marks in it because in game we have not currents, magnetic precession and that stuff. If we had perfect and milimetric navigation in this game it lose some "credibility" of Age of Sails time.

     

    I have in project for after wipe make paintings of mountains in my map to know where to go when see land.

  6. Over 100% it distorted a bit, but the map was designed to work at 100% or less. For travels mainly and limited capacity showing little details.

     

    Is only a big 8000x6500 pixels JPG image. It have not mystery about that.

     

    Had you downloaded from Photobucked the 42mb JPG file?

  7. Jodgy, tomorrow I will see that about PNG. And the source file is with layers , then I can quit colours or lines or make the land and sea the same texture or make it white for printing... for the bat-cave or man-cave, etc...

     

    P.S. Pirate is not rosa, it's morado (purple) lol. You must understand that make it black would be ugly and mixed with shadows of the coast.

     

    P.S.2.. Who is the girl in image? she is really really beautiful!!!! :wub:

  8. That works.  I can see from yours that Game Labs has changed more locations that I didn't know about.  And Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands look nothing like they used to.

     

    If you want, you can pick the coastline for completing or placeholder yours.

     

    New Orleans area is a little simpler because it is a mess of lines and don't worth it make exact. I am upload a new version with cays between Key West and Vacas, they were in the wrong layer in original file and is empty in the map now, it will be right in 10 minutes.

  9. Maybe the answer at your question is the external camera. I used the camera over a point, F11 and I put the coordinate in my grid. Move the camera at next point that change the coast line and F11 and put that point in the grid and link with last point with brush tool... When the coast is a line is fast and if is a island with bays and capes is more points and more time. When the camera reacha a point not renderized, back to ship and move to last renderized point... and many many many hours later the map is done. I think you don't believe me when I say 16k points in a month working alone, but here is the proof and nobody coming saying I was helped. Cuba was 2 days and Santo Domingo 2 days too. With time I was faster doing this. And if the coordinates are for example x:134654.7 Z:-345678 I remember only 134k half and minus 345k and half.

     

    You are free of use my coast line for complete your map and I warned you that maybe some points can be incorrect due sleeping, boring or wrong plot in my rudimentary grid.

     

     

    About publicate it I don't know about make web pages or that. I only want make a JPG and put it here but this forum don't let my put a good quality image or I don't able to do it.

  10. I think all of this is a barrier language. With accurate, I guess, Ion mean the actual compass is little and show few points and only 2 point between the main 8 bearings. And in the point where letters are, then there are not marks. Is impossible put a bearing in compass and reach the exact point in long travels. English is not my native language.

     

    It we had a huge compass all screen with many marks in it, using my or your map will be exact travels.

  11. How did you plot that many points so quickly?  I've been working for months on mine and only have half for half the world done.

     

    Having too much time free... sadly.

     

    And when you end your map then you will have 10k points maybe. The last time mapping I made Gulf of Mexico, US coast and Kidd's Island and I have 5292 files in my screenshots directory. At first i didn't count that, but is an estimation that Bahamas, Florida, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Virgins and half of lesser Antilles was 5k or almost 10k... really don't bother me but sure it was many points. Some areas are 1 point every 100 meters in game, other are 2k or 3k meters in game.
