  1. Yes Jodgy, but now I only managed publish this low resolution. I could not upload the 8,5mb version to gallery yet. 100% size map is 46mb.

And details like shoals that can take tactical advantages for RAE will be maintain secret longer. I am the only maker of this map and I am willing to show my complete work, but this is a multiplayer game. Anyway one day I can change my mind about that.

  2. 29 of May 2017 map update.

Every black line of grid is 20000 game units in game (F11). The grey line is 10000. The numbers indicate the position every 100k units. Distance of view aproximately 20k.

Well, back in the summer 2015 and after almost 1 month of hard work I made my map complete at 99% (never a art work is fully completed).

My map has between 10000 or 16000 points taken in game world and put in a grid. This number of points I never counted it but I calculated from memory the files I send to recicle bin but it don't bother me anyway the number of exact points. Some details maybe are inaccurate because I was bored or tired or falled to sleep sometimes, but what is in game is in my map except coordinates grid. New version have the new stuff taken directly from the ingame map, is too long go there only for place a coast or one city in exact coordinates.

The beautiful drawing with title is directly taken from a real spanish chart with my name and  where it was the name of king and that stuff.

When a port is with a line under (like in Pedro Cay) is because is shallow port. And the Leguas scale in the right side is only for decoration. Ports in a pointed box are freports. Freeports have green points marking their positions.

Click this link for donwload a PNG version of the map (around 130mb). This version have the coordinate grid (F11 coordinates) and painted with paper texture both land and sea. I have different versions with and without grid. And the land can be paper and green coloured. The sea can be paper, blue and reddish coloured. I can make any version with this colour combinations.

  3. 90% of all land and all big islands but Jamaica you see in game map is property of Spain in time of game is based. And Russia or Ottoman empires are not present in map or game.  As western world native I tend to not know  too much about east history, Ok with that, but in the west, Spain (in decay or not), is one of 3 main powers with France and England. The problem is the history and literature that almost people here had read in their lives was written by English and it reflect in ships the community choose as it is normal. But if I am right, no nation quit America land or islands from Spanish hands until 1810 for independence, not for conquest.

That said, devs can make the ships they think correct.

  4. in english please some of us don´t understand the russian ;)  ;)

In short, he said Russia was a great sea power but we in west don't know their rich history of sea battles and good ships. The history of Russian victories in the sea is much more rich than USA for example and the one reason for Russia is not in game now is only for Russia had not a port in area. I used Google translator.

And I add that in case of Spain is worse, like we was the "bad guys" in history told from english side and spanish players in game are not the main market target for devs, spanish ships are not enough famous for include in game except santissima. At least we have our flag...

USA is in game for a little time margin and they have more ships than Spain and the same than France more or less, but USA market is very big like Russian and this is the fact.

  5. Prater, IonAguirre use a map so accurate like yours, not public yet, OK but my map have aprox. 15000 points taken in actual game world. And my map is complete now, including that isle all we know, since 5 days ago I ended it. BTW Louisiana and Bahamas area were a hell to make... lol

For stars, I am sure if they make a plain with stars painted and that texture moves, we can measure the angle on inclination in every hour of day and calculate the position or simply making the stars fixed and measuring the angle you can obtain your position I guess. Or maybe I can be wrong. Is now possible know the hour of day for sun position if we could measure the angle the sun forming with horizon??

P.D. Paint in black the Isle of Pines area under west of Cuba too, is not accurate in your map ;)

  6. The list of spanish big ships builded in Caribean is long I think... Santissima was build in La Habana shipyard for example.

Bart, you can accept put a personal flag that only in your computer is showed and others see a default flag? In Rise of Flight for example, you can make your own plane skin and put in the game, but only you can see it other players see the default skin. For other people can see that skin, they must install the skin file in their computers.

Maybe you can speak with admin about that "feature" for a future develop stage of course.

  7. Ok, it is a aesthetic choise. All that examples are very old maps and is normal the wear and tear after 250 years, but in the time sure the paper was, not pure white, but very clear. Sorry for the criticism, I only wanted to be constructive with a colleague map maker.

Like our Captains and Crews, our Maps take part in Grand Adventures on the High Seas.   They do NOT sit ashore, never going to sea.

My captains and me go to high seas too, but we only use new and updated maps and take care of this important things like our military and naval traditions require. Not purchased in the first drunken and dirty geographer found in the first seedy tavern. If our captains or crew shows the neglect and abandonment in so important stuff, they will be punished appropiately.

  8. ...

Its also strange regarding history and the human's behavior. Why would I want to sail a small vessel when I could be captaining a stronger one?

Because floating bricks (and I almost include Bellona in this category) are boring for example. There plenty people in real life that reject promotions because the office life don't like. And a captain in a frigate will have actions that gain promotions and prizes and he will sail more free, and first rates not.

For the other points about people abusing the feature, you and the others maybe are right.

  9. Booyaah, I have coordinates of many ports pre-last patch, but I am not willing to take the boring process of upload files at photobucked and put here basicaly because I can write it here faster... and, if I would want deceive, I can edit the coordinates in screenshot anyway... but if you don'y trust in my word, I can maintain in my personal knowledge. No problem.

And for the shallow or deep water ports... most shallow waters ports are now deep since last patch.

  10. I am the opinion that ships in game must be common and without great details (like the actual Pickle). The actual ships modelled with real ships details with the same name in their stern is a visual immersion destructor for me. But it is the alpha built of the game and not prioritary.

The ideal situation would be all ships in game were standard without special details (Pickle style) and based only in real ships. Remove all characteristic of real ships paintings, decorations etc. Then you can buy in game decorative modules and maybe make some decorations exclusive based in country but avoid real ships names. Then devs can sell real ships like premium maybe, but to see 100's of bellonas with name bellona writing in stern is immersion break.

In games is better not historical ships because if you want historical, you can't sail a real ships. Bellona can exist, but only like NPC. Not every player and his dog sailing the 100th HMS Bellona at same time. In WWI aviation sim many people wants real paintings but piloting the Red Baron plane... is a contradiction, realisticly only 1 man was Red Baron and only 1 plane was red with his number painting in fuselage. Here is the same, only 1 man can be the captain of Bellona at same time and that captain can not be a player because all people wants captain that particular ship.

I wish other ships, more 74's spanish like San juan Nepomuceno, San Ildefonso or Montañes. The same for other class. 112's like Santa Ana... etc. Now, for example, I can't imagine that I sail 1 San Ildefonso class because the only 74 in game has BELLONA put in big letters in stern and has great identificable decorations. But if in the future devs add modules with spanish style sterns, figureheads, paintjobs and personalization of name ships, I will can have more spanish style and personal ships.

Many of this spanish ships are fast too or have very good sailing, but they are not famous as english ships because Trafalgar was lost by Spain and France. The same for suggestions of some people for making english crews buffed recharging or spanish ones more numerous. For what reason? Only because one day in Trafalgar the english recharging more fast thanks to extensive training before the battle and spanish crews not? I say the same for every country in game of course and like Admin said, all man born equal.

The same for ships. The US only have the best option for that type of ship in that moment and they made it. If Constitution were in a geopolitical situation like we have in game now, she would be copied soon and all nations would had various of them or better, or maybe they never would construct that type of ship. But if we want Constitutions only for US, then US can not have bellonas or bigger. The same for other ships or countries in game.

  11. I have various ideas:

We need different size of modules. Is not the same a module in a yatch than in a bellona. You need much more copper/plankes/canvas/wood/rope/hammocks... for a Victory than a cutter.

For example if I have a optimized rudder in a connie, I can "plug&play" that rudder in another connie for few work and gold. But if I want adapt that rudder in a trinco o other similar inferior ship, any carpenter in shipyard can make a few modifications to adapt. If you want put that rudder in a bellona you can add some wood and gold for adapt but you lose a level of rudder module quality.

The same for reinforced rudder, lightweight ropes and blocks, reinforced mast, and similar modules that change removable and non-integral with ship construction.

Copper plating once put in a ship, the copper can be quit and used for plating another ship or meltdown for make new module. In this case, you can use copper for plating various smaller ships.

Modules like optimized magazine access, extra planking and reinforced bow or stern planking and speed/turning trim once installed they go with the ship forever and losed if you quit. and you can recover some wood or materials from them.

Crew modules you can change free from a ship to another when the ships are same class, reduced the buff if you put them in a bigger ship or divided in various if you changed to smaller ships.

For example grey hammocks, marines complement or powder monkeys gives you 10 men the grey module, 20 green, 40 blue... but the ships have a hard limit of crew and you can divide one yellow module in various inferior modules.

And give to player ranks ability for extra crew the ships based in rank privileges. For every level of rank you command a inferior ship (commodore commanding a Surprise for example), you add a % of crew automatically. But I had read that in navy rules a minimun coy space (14 inches I think) was guarantee for every sailor and you need maintain that crew limit for every ship. Overcrewed ships can have a light speed penalty for overweight too. And more crew, more hold space for food and water in long travels when implemented.

Another idea is make a module for add extra weight cannons reinforcing the ship estructure. You reinforce the ship and you obtain of more weighted cannons and more HP points to hull, but you obtain less speed and turning for overweight and the distribution the crew for manning that bigger gun. More crew for bigger gun is less crew for sails. If you put too heavy guns in a ship, you can broke a beam or something like that (HP loss and hull breach every gunshot) too.

  12. I am thinking about this and I have a sugestion.

Now we can use hammocks or other modules for overcrew the ships, but when you are Commodore for example and command a Belle Poule. As commodore maybe you can have the privilege of overcrew the less ranked ships based in rank.

For example a full crewed Belle Poule needs a Master & Commander rank but if you are Post Captain you have a +2% crew. Flag Captain obtain +4% crew. Commodore +8%, Rear Admiral +12%...
