  1. I was making the assumption of 30 PC controlled DDs patrolling around their ports and all converging on a sighting of enemy ships.
  2. I think it would need to account for WHAT the ships are. 30 DDs shouldn't be attacking a formation of more than *maybe* 5 BB at absolute most
  3. False. A well designed game will do everything that it does do well.
  4. You are, quite literally, the only person who thinks this. Stop defending shitty game design by implying that it somehow takes skill instead of blind luck to make it work. Large battles are nothing but a slog in which my 4 to 10 CAs or CBs kite around the AI until everything is dead or I get board and go in for torp runs that get my ships ripped up, purely to end the battle faster.
  5. Monster battles could be fun if we could set formations before the battle started and the AI weren't as dogshit.
  6. It doesn't delay anything because your ships' armor should defeat all 5" guns by the time it could become an actual issue. Overall, you still outrange the 5" guns with any heavy cruiser or battleship you could build if you're not being silly about it. My heavy cruisers for 1920 have 12" of belt armor with 6" of bow and stern armor at +136% quality and 4x dual-mount 8"/48 caliber guns on each side. Can a 5.9" gun beat 14.16" of armor on my bow? What about my 28.32" of belt armor? Answer is usually "no" even if it's at maximum barrel length at normal combat distances. The DDs torpedos are far more dangerous than its guns at all times if it's close enough to penetrate my armor. At the very BEST that I can make a 5" gun, with APBC II, maximum bore and barrel length (5.9/51 calibers), Dunnite, Cordite I, heavy shells, it can get up to 26.5" of penetration at 90° at 1000 yards. 14.7" at 5000 yards What does this mean? It's almost never going to penetrate my CA's hull, even at its best, and I'm far more advanced in all of these techs than all of the AI are.
  7. You can't exactly fit more than 2 of those 5.9" guns on most DD hulls until they break 1700 ton maximum displacement anyway, and they're deleted from existence far more easily. Just use more heavy cruisers with HE combined with a few of your own DDs as spotters.
  8. For the latter suggestion, what defines a Light Cruiser is quite literally nothing more than the size of the ships guns. A CL has a maximum gun size of 6" according to history, while a CA has a maximum gun size of 8". Anything larger than 6" bumps the ship into being a CA by virtue of how large the hull would have to be to support anything larger, and same thing for the CA. The Deutchland-class aren't CA, but small BBs. They're literally called "Pocket Battleships". To the former, a 5.9" gun still isn't as good as a 6" gun damage-wise and penetration-wise. (Despite weighing more)
  9. The Italians shouldn't even be a single cohesive state for a lot of the early game, and they've never had a strong industrial base. Their economy is supposed to be dogshit.
  10. So... When will the casemates on towers be fixed?
  11. I'll take this a step farther: Don't disable ANY of the time multipliers. Ever. If I want to run at 30x speed while I'm trying to get my battle of Jutland (x2 scale) going, I should be able to.
  12. I get it just as much, if not more, with the British. Too bad that they destroy their economy when they do this and once I've killed all their battleships after 10 years of war they literally can't make any more ships.
  13. I'd like to request the ability to use the scroll wheel to adjust the manual rudder slider in increments of half a degree while the courser is over the slider.
  14. Spanish-American war, U.S. Entry into WW1, U.S. Entry into Vietnam.R
  15. I disagree a bit with the diplomacy options, as you're an admiral, not the head of your government. I do think, however, that you should get technology bonuses if, say, your government says they want more battleships, then you get a time-limited bonus to researching better battleship hulls. I also think that granting increased research points for building and using certain types of ships and weapons. If I only use 7" and 4" guns on my cruisers, then I'd think we'd be focusing on improving those before everything else, so I get my Mk. II 7" or 4" guns, THEN the 2" or 8", etc.
  16. It is now 1910, I have a fleet 28 of 13,500 ton Von der Tan cruisers with 6x 7.5"/49 caliber guns, the British are broke and I've sunk literally all of their ships, they've fallen behind dramatically on tech, and Italy has collapsed without me touching it. The British were using Guncotton and Brown Powder on 4,400 ton cruisers and 11,500 ton pre-dreadnoughts. Give the British more hello kittying money. If I'm to live out my dreams of crushing the Royal Navy then I want it to at least be fun! It's not any fun if they collapse economically despite having their entire over-sea empire to draw money from.
  17. Personally, I think that "hull design" should constitute all hulls, instead of just battleships, cruisers, or destroyers/torpedo boats.
  18. It would be better if the superstructure elements were separate, peaceable, parts. This way we'd have more options. Especially if the superstructure parts weren't limited by nation. This way, you could see the main hull come from a British design, the secondary gunplacement from a French design, the main superstructure from an Italian design, and the towers from a German design. (In theory, of course. Not all of the superstructure and secondary placements would be compatible, but still) I'd also like it if we could adjust how wide, tall, and long the superstructure is. Let me add a Von Der Tann bow superstructure to the hull that should belong to a Nelson.
  19. I didn't say "centerline" armor, I said coning tower armor, and Hiei's coning tower was at 10", but fair enough. Though I have no hello kittying clue what any of the numbers on the chart mean other than that i can guess that "EFF" is effective, but none of that is explained anywhere.
  20. Is just game, why you heff to be mad? This game can never be realistic, and never will be. Being as accurate as possible is what they're after. Also: the 5" guns of USS Laffey DD-459 penned the 10" citadel armor of IJN Hiei, nearly killing the Japanese fleets admiral, at around a 60º angle, even though they were only rated for 5" of armor penetration. Maybe it was at 300 yards, but I can't see getting that much more pen between 4000 yards and 300, given that she's only down to 4" at 5400 yards and 3" pen at 7400 yards.
  21. They don't die if I kill the escorts first.
  22. I would like to request that this never happen during the campaign if it's not night-time and stormy. It was day-time and only cloudy. This was the starting position, not where I'd sailed to.
  23. The size difference between 5" and 6" guns is a bit too large. That "6 inch" gun is a 9" gun by comparison to the 5" if they're on the same scale. The bore of the "6 inch" gun is larger than the entire outer circumference of the 5" gun's muzzle. You should also consider increasing the file-size so I can actually post screenshots from the game. This one saved as 2.2 megs. Additionally, Cruiser casemates need to be able to get up to 6" so I can make a St. Louis Class Cruiser. I need 16 6" guns.
  24. That wasn't his issue. His issue was that they didn't continue their course to where he wanted them, and instead returned to the port he'd told them to leave. Disregard. (Why can't I delete posts?)
  25. The issue of not being able to build refits created during fleet creation is still present. I also can't build copies of said refits under new names after the fact. Additionally: German Battleship II doesn't like it when a barbette is placed midships while there are wing guns, even when they're plenty far clear due to the hull being widened. I was using 9" duel mount guns with hull width at 9.4. It let me place the barbette fine the first time, but when I looked at it a second time the barbet and all the guns and the front tower turned red.
