  1. AB, You amaze me with your simplicity in answer and.........Ruthlessness!!
  2. Curious to know the answer to this as well? And would it be different for level of difficulty?
  3. Amazing tutorial battle vids CK! Now, I'm just come to Cedar Mountain. I notice your brigade size is mostly at 2300. I assume you are able to field 2500 man brigades? So why not max them out? Is it to build more brigades or minimize enemy scaling? I really hope at some time you can do an in depth set on Army Management. Finally are you spending your reputation points as you are earning them? And if so, what are your priorities for purchase? Rifles, Cannons, Generals, Men??? Thanks in advance and it's a joy to watch the thoughtfulness towards tactics as a whole.
  4. A sense of sadness seems to have struck me with things here. I play the game on CSA to challenge myself from a military strategy standpoint. Nothing else. If a person feels that they have to attached a personal statement about the course of history then that's free speech isn't it? But people opposite of that statement also have the right to disagree, that's free speech too. The sadness comes from reading the words with perhaps the intent to hit the other over the head with it to claim a sense of betterment. And do it in a way without respect. How we feel is entirely our own way. What I see here in the US now is that the "acceptable" way anymore is to clobber anyone who doesn't see it the same way. And that wouldn't be too bad except there seems to be a lot of hatred in the expression of thoughts anymore. I come to this game to simply challenge myself mentally and keep my aging brain cells from getting lazy. The same way I enjoy playing chess. I thought the summary of his observations were tremendously helpful and insightful. But when I got to the last part it ruined it for me. If I want to hear stuff like that I just turn on the news for 5 minutes and move on. I begin to wonder though as we all form our own opinions about the US Civil War, Do any of us really truly understand the whole underlying current at the time the war started? Yes, we read books. And the more I read the more I see that each author saw it from their own perspective. And the farther removed from living in the actual period the more biased the view I think. Just my opinion and I force it on no one. But the opinion expressed has got me thinking I need to dust off Volume 1, The Story of the Civil War by Ropes. I recall he spent the first chapter of the book discussing the myriad of causes. The part of the book about the opening shots of the war and all that led up to it is absolutely fascinating reading. Chapter 1 is The States and the Union. And now I will reread it. If just to relive the situation of Major Anderson commanding the forts in South Carolina. Talk about a guy in a tough spot...wow. If you haven't read of him or his role at the beginning it makes for great reading. I guess to quote Jeff Daniels..."Sorry I didn't mean to preach". I come to the forums to be amazed at the intellect, the ability to form strategies, read about your successes, failures of game play and the game itself. And yes, be amazed at the Soldier's exploits! I come to be entertained and get away. Be well all, time for me to start Gaines Mill as the CSA. I'll leave the hatred out of the game play!
  5. I'm not caught up to this battle yet after numerous campaign restarts with the flurry of patches that came up just before final version release and the next couple of patches. But looking into your crystal ball CK......do you plan to do the Union campaign too?? Keep up the great work!
  6. Silly me CK..found it as part of Part 6!
  7. Did I miss the battle for Port Republic somewhere in the series CK?
  8. CK, I think you may have mentioned this previously but I didn't note it. Could you provide which attributes you give your; infantry, cavalry, and arty at each level when they achieve a boost? Thanks!
  9. Is there any way you can think of CK that would allow more men available heading into this battle?
  10. Boy I was really hoping the teleportation thing would have been fixed or at least addressed by saying.. we will fix it or we won't. Teleportation is great for the single battle but not for a campaign. But with that said...this is an amazing game and extend congrats to the Developers. From my own perspective on playing pc wargames, gems are difficult to find but when one is found, it's stands above many. For me, this is one of them. I too hope that fixes continue.
  11. Amen and well and respectfully stated too AP
  12. Thanks CK, I did post these over on Youtube but will do so here too; Please show your Army Management phase after/before the next battle so we can see this skill demonstrated ongoing and in a dynamic sense as one progresses through the campaign. Show and summarize the opening placement and initial strategy at the very start of your battle vids. Finally, would really like a video discussing Reputation.... when and how to use it. I just can't seem to wrap my arms around this enough to feel that I am using (or not using) it to it's maximum benefit.
  13. I would love to see you post vids on You Tube to see you in action on different facets of this game. You have so much to offer.
  14. Impressive Col Kelly! These last two vids have really help to clarify for me the approaches for; Attack and Army Camp Management. I can't say it enough. You are really spending a lot of time here discussing; tactics, management, and general concepts that highlight what Ultimate General Civil War has to offer the average gamer. I'm enjoying your videos almost as much as my own game play. You stand above the rest. Much appreciated. What a great game!
  15. I have to respectfully offer an opinion different from Perkon. I see many improvements over time to this point. Like A.P.Hill and others, I would like to see those loose ends fixed. No need to rehash them here, you know what the most requested ones are. I would like to add one comment from the last comment in an ended topic about next day battle starting points. Let those ending battle lines at the end of day one, two, or whatever reflect what a player has achieved in the Campaign format. Let the next day battle in a multiple day battle start based upon the results of the previous day. In playing single battle games then resetting next day starting points to historical points is fantastic. Stick with it. Hopefully that's doable. Don't remember a game that has got me so interested in all facets of; historical accuracy, army management, real time action, and just plain fun! And a special thanks to the many and great Playtesters that have shared so much of their expertise here on the forums and on You Tube! A couple to thank for helping me are Vren55 for his initial guide and Col Kelly for his current vids on You Tube! But have learned much from the other "user contributors"! I have to say, Thanks to some of the players on You Tube whom I enjoyed watching them play through the game from the very beginning of early access. They were the ones that made me first aware of this game. They are in no particular order; The History Guy, Night Phoenix, The Historical Gamer, Bundeswehr Bob, HForHavoc as the ones I watched most. Pretty effective marketing to be sure. Thanks Guys!
  16. Well better the head than the stomach right????
  17. Bravo is all I can say. Would have liked to see your in between Camp management as you built up your brigades heading into Shiloh. Thanks CK. And hey AP...Good to see a Frenchman thinking too highly of himself!!
  18. Thought I'd just ask the question to be sure that is the case....
  19. Hey Vren was wondering if you plan to update your guide to current patch status. It was a nice help for me in the early going and I thought you did a nice job with it!
  20. Nick, Regarding your post below with this latest update (thanks), can you tell those of us that purchased early access what the cost will be for the full release? Thanks in advance. Dear Generals, Thanks to your great help, we have already offered various small patches that improved and fixed several aspects of the game. The new update provides a few more improvements and prepares the ground for the end of Early Access and the final full release of Ultimate General: Civil War.
  21. Hey Col Kelly thanks a lot for doing this series of videos! And the Army Camp tutorial is a great help from an experienced play and tester. Keep up the great work please. And know your efforts are appreciated by many! Kind regards
