  1. Taking out fleets from each side, looks to be 15 US/Brit vs 15 Pirates and in similar ships no less.

     

    I'd take that any day of the week for fun PvP. Outnumbered? not in this picture. I'm sure possibly in other battles though it may have been the case. Adding fleet ships, the Brit/US could've used their ai fleets to good use and possibly won this fight :). I have no idea about ship types, but it seems to suggest a good amount of 4th and 5th rates mixed for Us/Brit side.

    The pic is to show that Brits alone, US alone, do not outnumber pirates and all those who left our nations to join BLACK and the other pirate clans. But yes, it was all 4ths for the most part and a lot of fun, even though after about a 1/4 dmg to enemy we just couldnt get any more. They have beast ships, well built., they're all Old Ironsides :)

  2. Someone called for a pic of numbers? This was just one PvP battle after apparently a full PB at Morant? All I know is that the Brits and US were outnumbered in both PvP battles after that PB. Plus the ZILCH and other rat clans making a ruckus in the Bahamas for the US at the same time.

    All I know is it was great fun in the PvP....sinking....yet again. heh. I should steal that players name SirSinksAlot :D

  3. Number of available officers should in any case depend on your own rank. Won't make sense if a Midshipman can have 3 officers same as a Rear Admiral.

    I would like to see the number of officers depending on rank. The first rank with one officer should be first lieutenant, then every following rank shall have one more. Each officer shall have only one perk. The effect of the perks shall increase with increasing experience. The first officer shall gain half of the captain's XP, the second half of the first's, and so on. When the first dies, the second is promoted and becomes the new first and the player may choose a new one for his lowest officer.

    This gives good mixture of perks in different levels, not always the maximum. And it will be necessary to change the fighting style according to the current officers situation.

    Indeed! I wish I had this in my poll. The PMs I get suggest this also.

    So, I can see maybe this:

    • ranks 1-3 getting only 1 officer (or 2)
    • ranks 4-6 getting 2 officers (or 3)
    • ranks 7-10 getting 3 officers (or 4)

    Possibly....

    However, because some of these officers are in fact appointed by Admiralty to ship Captains, I think some of these officers should not be available to lower rank players. So on this, I would suggest separating these officers by Admiralty officers and non-Admiralty officers. And then we will see which are available for each rank of player.

     

    Ranks 1-3 available officer to choose from (non-Admiralty as listed in OP)

    • Master Gunner
    • Carpenter
    • Surgeon
    • Rigging Master
    • Sailing Master
    • Shipwright
    • Purser/Econ Officer (maybe, or might need to be split)

    Ranks 4-6 (same as above plus the following Admiralty appointed Officers)

    • Boatswain
    • Marine Officer
    • Purser/Econ Officer (if not for ranks 1-3 or if split)
    • ​(other officers not yet thought of?)

    Ranks 7-10

    • Ship's Master
    • Master & Commander (maybe?)
    • (other officers not yet thought of?)

     

    Any suggestions are appreciated. BTW, even if this doesn't get accepted by devs for NA, it might be helpful for NA2 or another new AoS game in the future.

    And reviewing this list, we have to make certain some officer are available to lower rank players that will indeed help them economically, such things that will help with the cost of crew, cost of buildings, etc...Because when you first start this game, it is quit expensive in game to maintain growing and ranking.

  4. We do not know about the merge yet (have not made the decision). American provider had several problems in the last two weeks if this continues - it will force us to merge. Having said that we would like to state that a good number of players play on PVP USA because it is more quiet there. 

     

    The current patch is going to be large and significant - we do not have resources to allocate for merging anyway. We might provide a mirrored merge (like we did on release) where all assets from the merged server will be provided once on the main PVP ONE server. 

     

    In the long term we all know that only two servers should remain. After release population will go up first but then will go down and stabilize at around 1000 simultaneous players 6 months after release. So in the long term we only need two servers. PvP (1000 players) and PVE (300-400 players).

     

    Patch will be deployed in October. A lot of big changes are getting in and it won't make it in september. 

    Thank you so much for silencing (with an answer) those of us in this merge debate. Please consider a server in Iceland. :) But for testing, I believe it to be in the best interest to have 2 servers while you keep releasing updates.

    1000 PCU = 20,000 active monthly users

    Majority will play for several weeks, level up the ship they want and will move on. 70% user drop off is standard for an industry unless the game is a huge hit, but even for a hit numbers drop off significantly (look at GTA 5 or Fallout) 

    There was a hint a couple months ago to a Naval Action 2...does this possibility of NA2 require NA to be a huge hit?

  5. Here is the current list of Upgrades available. The idea of this post is to choose which of these Upgrades should actually be changed to Perks for specific Officers we can choose from. But, here is the complete list to date.

     

    Permanent Upgrades:

    • Barricades – Increase to Melee and Firepower
    • Copper Plating – Increase of Ship Speed
    • Extra Planking – Increase of Armor HP; Reduction to Ship Speed and Leak Speed
    • Extra Staysails – Increase of Jib Sail Force; increase to Crew Requirement
    • Fireship Fitting – Increase of Fire Probability, Fire Increase Rate, and Powder Radius
    • Improved Magazine Access – Reduction of Reload Rate
    • Optimized Rudder – Increase of Ship Turning Speed and Rudder Speed

    • Reinforced Rudder – Increase of Rudder HP

    This post will be very important as based on what these Upgrades do will result in which need to be changed to Perks.

    Which mean we could be 326 players on the same server (where ever it would be located) having fun together.

    So I suggest you get on the campaign ball to get people to switch to PvP2. Because if it happens the other way, we see that 5 ppl would join PvP1. Which mean the population would be 196. 130 people would quit and play some other game.

  7. You still have the highest player population. Two days ago you had 25 at Mayaguana and outside there still was another 15 tagging our guys from making the port battle.

    Not quite, not even close. I've never been in a PB where the US fielded an entire team, except back when I first started playing. And sitting outside, we had maybe 3 US and 3 Brits. When you want to make such claims, you might want to post screenshots...or it didn't happen :D

    There was a moderator on the other day in game who confirmed that US has the largest active players base.

    That moderator absolutely did not say the words "active player base", but rather stated that more players on this server joined as the US. These mean two different things. And I know the conversation because this conversation was in the Brit Chat. If it was in global or pirate, I've no idea. At any rate, it seems quite logical, considering the server location. (I'm curious to know how many of them are pirate and brit alt spies. We see many of them. I'm also curious to know how many National players have left their nation to go rat when it was so easy to do. I know of 5 complete US clans of 10+ in each clan that left before August. I wasn't on during August so, I've no idea how many left then.)

    But if we disagree on any of this we can certainly ask the moderators/admins/devs.....Hey y'all, first, can a moderator see how many ACTIVE players are logged in for each nation??? and if not, can mods/admins/devs at all see how many members are in each nation? and how active each nation is?

    Anyway, all I see is that the US cannot field more than 2 teams of 10-15...even with all the "carebear newbs" hanging out at Cton and crying every time they see a rat gank fleet of 3-5. (which btw many times these 'newbs' are spies trying to lure us into the rat gank fleets.)

    The Pirates however, are capable of fielding 20 in a PB against the Brits in Jamaica, and 20 against the US in the Bahamas, and 5-10 against the French and/or Dutch, and at least 4-6 that I've seen way out at Kidd's Harbor. So if we count this up, that's 60ish rats vs the 30ish US plus the random carebear newbs afraid to leave cton. And considering the French and Dutch have numbers in the morning more often than at night, it is obvious who has the largest active population during primetime.

    That one in particular has a huge flaw in its votes. Not only that, it is overloaded with voters from PvP1. Not only that, read the answers from those who play PvP2 and not the answers from those who play PvP1. Many PvP2ers did not answer that poll, as many others did not who saw what the creator was trying to force ppl into answering. Not only that...if ping does not matter to the player, or the player states they have no issue with ping on either server, then the solution is simple....

    Option 1: PvP1 should merge into the PvP2 server in the US.

    OOoooorrrrr

    Option 2: all of those who say there is no difference in ping AND play both servers, should stop spreading themselves thin between the two servers and play only on PvP2.

    Option 3: go ahead and merge PvP2 into PvP1 in europe and see that the population grows only by these 5 ppl who call the rest of us PvP2ers liars about our wicked high ping and the wicked high lag spikes.

    If you choose option 3, enjoy your massive population boost of 5 players...while the rest of us change to any other game.

  9. To be fair Nobody that I know of asked for any help from PvP1. It came about more from having no ports open during the NA time Zone here and wanting a little change for a few nights. Also It was only a couple of us and we found plenty of Brits able to fight. They just need to get there "stuff" together. 

     

    And Pirates be careful of what your doing there. I was one of you  back when we had 1 port on PvP1. I can tell you by taking a nation down to that lvl all your doing is making them stronger. The carebears will leave and you will end up with an enemy that knows how to PvP and they will remember. :)

    That's exactly what happened when US and Brits took us down to one port. I hope they do get stronger and provide a challenge.

     

    No nation will get strong other than the pirates. The reason being is that every time this happens that a clan loses their home base, they quit that nation and all go rat. So, soon PvP2 will be nothing but pirates...as already when you count active players on PvP2, it is the Pirate nation with far more active players than any other nation....at least during our primetime

  10. Yeah I did some testing...

     

    It seems as planking is JUST resistance to leaks.   Which isn't that bad, and if you add that with the upgrade planking, and extra pumps with pump inventor, you will stay afloat almost indefinitely with one side gone.  

     

     

     

    As for ships characteristics. 

     

    So I have an Agamemnon 4th rate, Teak, Crew space, Speed.   I have found while it is a good ship, it is basically a small Ballona.  It definitely out classes the Constitution pound for pound, but they are different ships, the Connie is a heavy frigate, the Agamemnon is a Ship of the Line.   

     

    With that said here is my assessment of it. 

    For the cost it is actually better to just use a Ballona.   The Ballona while not as fast, turns just as well, has more armor, and more guns. (Ballona 74 vs Agam 64)   The Bow and Stern chasers on the Agamemnon are high up which is useful for dealing with chasers and prey.   Her sailing characteristics are good, she doesn't heel over as much as a Trincomalee, but she turns like a cruise ship, and burns speed like one too.   I think she should have better sailing qualities than she does... she seems only to like one point of sail the rest are... meh.  Almost like sailing a large Navy Brig.  

     

    But I am a frigate captain and I like my ships able to turn.

    Agreed, I can say from using the Agamemnon in a huge PvP vs Bellonas, Bucentaurs, Ingermanlands and Constitutions, the Aggie is worthless, even against the Connie and even with double charge. The 24lbers worked ok for the first 2 double charge broadsides, however, every double charge broadside after that would indeed show to me as a hit and counted 314 hits, but they did nothing to remove health bars after those first two rounds. Maybe it was a bug or something, who knows, but don't bother with the Aggie. Stick with the Connie and Inger.

  11. There are no lag spikes, so you are wrong on this.  I play PVP1 from USA with a low-grade internet connection and it is just fine.  Get informed before broadcasting generalities.  

    Um are you seriously thinking that everyone in the US has such great amazingly fast service as you? Do yourself a favor and do a forum search for "server merge" and read any of them to see that you need to get more informed, especially by main forum posters. TY

     

    I'm an USA player and I have played on the server in Europe since December... never had any issue.

  12. So, as we enter the last week of September, and consequently the last week before a major update to the PB system, we see a huge land grab from the Pirates. Apparently their goal is to crush the Brits relentlessly for apparently a 'broken' alliance deal from a month ago. It's been a lengthy grudge that the Pirates refuse to lift. During this time there has been a major British Civil War, that has made it even easier for the Pirates to take advantage of the situation. During this, the US attempted to help their former enemy with screens, yet to no avail. I'd assume this will continue throughout this last week of PB flags.

    On to other news for the previous week that involve the Pirates...and the Danes.

    The Dutch nation continues efforts to grow their territory as well as they can, yet the Pirates and Danes keep that growth in check. Plenty of Danes and Pirates show up to retake any port the Dutch take and punish them further by taking more from the Dutch.

    The same story seems to apply to the French liberators, as they continue to be kept in check by the Danes. It seems a long grudge still remains from something I was not witness to. It is either that or that the Danes only like to pick on small populated nations like the French, Dutch and Swedes. For some reason, the Danes continue to impose their will in the Antilles, and refuse to fight the largest active 'nation' in PvP2: the Pirates. We all wonder what those alliance papers contain.

  13. please meger the usa server. the current build of the game is killing the US playerbase. max pop on pvp one during US primetime is 150. the game is almost unplayable with pop that low. server merge will help pick pop up during usa time

    Good Lord, not this again! If the 'merged' servers are in Europe, the numbers will NOT rise, because nearly every US/Asian/Aus/S American player will simply quit the game due to the massive lag spikes. If you ever read ANY of the posts about this, you would already know to not say such a thing. This is getting extremely OLD!

    WHat do you mean by "the wrong 'edit click' sequence?

    I mean that if you have already clicked on the Edit button and don't remember how many times, then you just want to log off then log back in and make sure you click Edit only once, then edit, then click edit again. then log off. GL mate
