  1. Not really an issue in this thread but you are proclaiming utter nonsense my friend. We are living on a globe - not a European pancake...

I only added that bit as a response to the US whining about being left out of the treaty talk and saying that spain will all of the sudden decide they wanna go apeshit on the US. I live on the east coast USA (EST) and i have absolutely no problem whatsoever participating in rvr during pvp1 primetime 18-22 server time with EVERYONE else. If i remember right it works out to 4-8pm est. Sorry for the off topic, you can delete this if you want i just needed to straighten that out quick. As for this treaty, its a noble effort with good intentions but asking the whole server to be at peace will probably just lead to broken promises and even more bad blood on the eve of the rework. I wish you the best of luck though in all seriousness.

  2. It is always the middle of the night for somebody - the British nation does provide ports for about 75% of the time - hand tailoring it to our enemies advantage would be madness - we guarentee palyers for a defense on all these ports and those guys deserve a port at their time whether it fits your attack plan or not!

2-4 and 4-6 timers used on a massive scale are a gamey way to make sure no one snatches your ports. Its the main reason why rvr in its current form is a failure, and speaks volumes of those who use it to dodge fights. I doubt Spanish players will even bother with that bullshit before the rework.

  3. There will always be ganks no matter what is put in place. Its common sense to want an advantage. The timers as they are now, only serve to ensure that ganks stay ganks and that the battle does not become even or turn into a countergank. All for the sake of "realism" which im all for until it adversely affects fun pvp. This is a game, too much realism, unfortunately, can be a bad thing when implemented in certain aspects of the game.

  4. I was only trying to point out that shorter timers are an expensive trade-off for large ow brawls imho. Your points are all completely valid, im merely saying that i think that the most amazing, unique, and fun aspects of this game are best showcased in large battles and that im wary of anything that detracts from the frequency of these battles happening both for the sake of my own enjoyment and for the appeal of this game to new, fresh players. I was under the impression (i may be wrong, clearly) that the devs main focus was always combat and that large trafalgar like battles were something like a quasi inspiration.

About your example, you also take away the ability for friends to help out. 9 times out of ten the guy sailing on his own that gets ganked is dead either way but a 2 min timer means you don't have to worry about other enemies close to an enemy capital if you hit em at the right time. Youd need 10 min timers to get to get to a battle to help out a buddy if the gank force waited for the appropriate wind direction.

  5. Extend the battle timer to 3-3.5 mins, watch ganking in game plummet and defense of gankees become easier, watch gankers on the forum lose their shit and threaten to quit if they cant get their 2 min timer back so they can do what they do with ease again. I honestly don't know why the timers were lowered to encourage solo and small scale battles (ganks) at the expense of the potential for large (unorganized/unplanned) OW battles. I understand that unlimited teleports change things but at some point you need to step the fuck back and ask yourself what kind of game you want this to be.... Sail around for hours by yourself and hit traders/gank lone people with no chance of getting sunk yourself- or massive trafalgar-like battles popping up in hotspots all the time because people can get to fights. There will probably never be a happy medium between the two and trying to find one is a detriment to both playstyles. If you build this game and influence where the development leads basing your opinion on current active playerbase and unfinished/unpolished content the end product may not be what was originially intended.

  6. With 2 min timers you might as well BE one of the PvE guys because if you arent right with them when they get jumped you wont see any action. The gankers will just log out in post battle screen to avoid the very thing you are suggesting, and if you do see action with said PvE guys it means you are the gankee because no one starts a fight planning to get ganked. The best you can do is hang around and prevent ganks on traders near freeports and OPs merely with your presence. Occasionally you get an enemy fleet location called out in chat and if you are lucky enough to assemble/organize a counter raid force in time theres still a good chance the enemy is using ships fitted for speed so they run. Yes you occasionally get results (enemy fleet engaged) but usually u just end up wasting your time because no one in a gank squad wants to fight unless the odds are stacked. Im not advocating seal clubbing by any means im just saying (for me at least) the returns for hours of empty defensive gameplay are far outweighed by the prospect of going to where you know you will find the enemy. At this point i log on to find large scale engagements. Chasing traders and loners for an hour/hour and a half just doesn't cut it anymore.

  7. As things stand now im all for the game deciding war declarations. As for the boarding perks keep in mind that while marines were definitely effective they weren't the T1000 terminators we have in-game. I think the perks were put in place to make it imperative to immobilize and grape down crew instead of just rage boarding. That being said im willing to test out whatever i dont usually aim to board. Im 100% for the storms, but they shouldnt last real-time hours like they seem to now. If they do implement storms i can see global on that first day being one huge meltdown from lost rates lol.

  8. +1 i screw up ammo type all the time lol. This would be interesting for situations like when you hear a boarding prep whistle blow from a nearby ship and you have ball loaded and want to switch to grape to crew stomp the would be boarder. It would give captains more options in critical moments of battles where time is often the enemy of fleeting decisive opportunities.

  9. Just add lives to Upgrades like we have for Officers:)<will go grab my flame resistant suit now>

Actually not a bad idea, leave perm upgrades as they are and have reg upgrades degrade 1 dura per battle (obviously the dura loss rate and total number of duras would have to be discussed). Instead of disappearing after losing all duras the mod goes down 1 quality to represent wear and tear and the replacement thereof for equipment/replacement of casualties in marines and boarding parties. On the flip side i can see how this might hurt pvp, but it would create a sink for surplus upgrades and open up the ability for devs to find more ways to inject them into the community in ways that make it easier for every player to acquire.

  10. Timers seem to be an exclusive problem with the in-game US. There are US players in every ingame nation and we operate fine. Im from the east coast timezone in the US and i wouldnt care about the US timers if they didnt run their mouths and say people are going full retard for criticizing an underhanded tactic that takes pvp away from their own players. Not only that, how do you think SORRY shitwrecked your nation the first and second time? They took UNDEFENDED ports in the middle of the night because no one was awake to defend them at the times YOU set them. Last i checked defending is easy, fun, and rewarding. Maybe you would have more players now if you chose to play this game with the rest of the community instead of calling them retards.

  11. If the enemy is carrying MC or gold marines he has 40-50% fewer crew and will be trying to get in close. If you have high caliber longs/carros and you aim for leaks when he heels you can sink him quickly or at the very least force your opponent to break off for a bit to repair the leaks giving you ample time to work his sails which makes it more difficult for him to maneuver back into position to turn you into the wind. I do agree with OP to an extent mostly because i have always enjoyed the traditional stand up brawl opposed to just ram n board.

  12. Agreed on the "damage is done" part. To have the desired effect any changes to pirates will need to either encourage or force players to leave the pirate faction and start over or we will be at this crossroads again. This will only lead to fewer players for the time being assuming there will be future influxes of players. You have to assume a percentage of displaced players will have no interest in starting over. Be careful what you wish for. That being said, any changes should come sooner than later or at the very least new players choosing a faction should be informed of any impending rework to minimize butthurt when the changes do eventually come.
