Back when sugar and tobacco plantations was a thing.. Pre 2017..

EDIT: It was not without its flaws, but rather than ironing out the flaws they went with print your own money schemes.. Inflation was bad in the sugar and tobacco economy since whoever sailed his 4 indiamans into port first got a shitload of gold whilst everyone else had to wait for server reset. The inflation we have now is however uncontrollable and will remain so.

Ok. It's not what I picture with the term "player driven economy", though.

Nice, you shot your own "suggestion" dead in the third line.

    Interesting, isn't it ?

It is. But I doubt the effect will last beyond our current pre-wipe depression. It would be hilarious if it did, and I don't mean in spite.

It annoys me that the gankers and revenge gankers have managed to coin their safety based playing style as hardcore. It's so softcore it's embarrassing.

I bet the duel feature would work better on PVE than PVP server. PVE players have per definition showed more integrity by opting out of the gank or be ganked world. That shit is for the weak.

Can any1 really say that the game is not grindy af

Ooof, ye, eco stuff is very boringly grindy.

That is scheduled to change. Looks like the devs listen, eh?

An entire clan lost their ranks actually for something caused by the developers. Instead of fixing it, they banned people. Think about that.

I also remember the testing rules of "report exploits instead of using them. People who use exploits may have their progress reset."

Only games that favor alts in games get review-bombed by alts

Perhaps eco sandboxes get more review bombed than single account games, i dunno, I haven't payed much attention to such games.

I do remember that around the time we were hit by the SORRY review bomb there was also a lot of blogging and discussion about a review bomb over at PUBG, so it seems single account games aren't safe either.

In the face of review bombing and reviews as a tool to get back at devs I am completely unashamed of my postive alt reviews. All this has taught me that negative reviews are the most unreliable and positive reviews with caveats are the most informative. In my opinion, of course.

Don't be obtuse. This has to do with finding and participating in PvP for the majority of average players out there. Anything you do to frustrate players who are looking for PvP is bad for the game.

I can't believe that you would argue against anything that encourages people to fight more, even if it doesn't fit your "honorable" preference of arranged duels outside of La Tortue?

Lol. I can actually keep two thoughts in my head at the same time. I have always wanted pvp-on-demand but I've never wanted to dismantle OW with such content. Yet again I'm dumbfounded by the fact that an arena guy is fighting for true OW while OW fans would throw it under the bus for moar PvP.

Funny enough, it also has ten+ thousands of active daily players and an extremely vibrant PvP, PvE, RvR, and social tapestry to satisfy all play styles.

    Coincidence?

No coincidence at all. Of all those qualities you list I'm only interested in one: PvP, and when combat mechanics in EvE are what they are, there is absolutely no reason for me to play.

I'm sure EvE is a fantastic game for those so inclined.

The reason why I often take the bait in these discussions is because many posters desperately push the "arena will fail" idea. I know why so I try to refrain from even commenting. This is not that day. We can do the pissing contest.

NA OW was great/is great/will become great. NA combat mechanics are however better suited for PvP-on-demand gameplay and the recruitment pool is, by orders of magnitudes, larger.

if you got perfect spots to do PvP in the form of patrol zones? You get combat marks for sinking and being sunk there which you can in turn sell for reals.

True. PZs are ostensibly made for me. I used to do PZ's exclusively during their early days. The old "gank-or be ganked" mentality quickly took hold of PZ and my interest waned. I'm not really that hot for medals, I want fun fights more than anything.

It takes minutes really to cap a frigate

It takes me seconds to craft a better ship.

    24 minutes ago, Borch said:

How come that you are loosing more when being sunk in DLC ship opposite to crafted ship?

Cannons cost roughly half the ship. When I craft a ship I do it so cheaply I get more than the cost back. I lose only a small portion of the gun crafting cost. If I take a DLC out and lose it I lose the full cost of the guns because there is no insurance for DLC ships.

    25 minutes ago, Borch said:

but you loose the most time gathering mats to craft that ship.

I already told you I'm more than fine with spending 5-10 min. each week. It will be less after port investment.

    Reals from insurance shouldnt matter

But I explained how insurance is great for me because I craft on a budget; I get almost everything back and have no need to grind cash.

Where do you use your best wood DLC

Have all the ships, haven't used them yet because they cost me more reals.

    29 minutes ago, Borch said:

    or crafted ships then?

I've used crafted ships exclusively. Like I said I did PZs a lot, but have almost stopped. I've been sitting inside the solo PZ with Diana, frigate and cerb. Noone would tag. I've had a bit of fun in the Nassau solo zone, but I lost my last Niag a few weeks ago trying to get out. Without rewards for the loser I fear solo PZ will become a fake feature, I may sit there because I know I get everything back if I lose the ship, but people prefer the gank zones in the hope they end up on the strong side + some rewards even if they end up on the weak side.

I've done a tiny bit of OW hunting as well. Me and Laik hunted for an hour in the general area around Navasse without finding anything, as we were heading back to LT we ran into a herc we smashed out of boredom. I've also hunted solo in a cerb. I figured anyone would engage me in such a shitty ship. A brit req ran away but I was finally able to sink a Prussian Indiaman before I gave up on the cerb experiment.

Why do you care for reals if you are not interested in any other NA part besides PvP?

I don't care about reals. I just take great care so I don't ever (hopefully) have to go grind reals.
