  1. The open world part of this game and all the interactions was a large part of what got me hooked and spending more time playing. I don't think I was involved in a single game since the old days of playing Warbirds Online. I liked the early sea trials for some quick action. Legends sound like it will be similar but like the early sea trials will only satisfy some quick instant gratification. It won't keep people around as long or as interested in the long term. For me since the wipe, it's just become too much grind that can be lost too quickly. This results is not enough Naval action to keep up my interests like I had before. Maybe if grinding was more fun, then maybe it wouldn't be so bad, but for now it just requires too much time before getting to the point where you're ready to take you're earnings and risk losing a ship. The often toxic behavior of a lot of the players on the forums and in chat doesn't help the over all attitude either. It doesn't matter anyhow. From what I gather the devs are going to make the game they want regardless of our opinions. They got my money and I do feel I got my moneys worth. Whether I or anyone else sticks around or not no longer matters to them as long as they have an influx of new players for future income.
  2. I found out on this forum, well the one for Gettysburg, led me to Naval Action. What I have found is when you get a group of guys that you play with in one game, it's often very difficult to get all the same group of guys to play something different. It could either be due to interests, or some sort of software/hardware issues. I generally lean towards historical, and simulation. I'm not attracted to fantasy games so much which there seems to be an over abundance of.

    Battles

There is certainly a large selection of battles to choose from. http://www.historynet.com/civil-war-battles
  4. Maybe not so much a tone or beep but instead a bugle call or drum and fife sounds to indicate new reinforcements enter the map?
  5. I'm not using any special monitor setup. Just one single monitor at 2560x1600. I've tried going windowed mode but it doesn't make any difference. So I'm taking it that it is confirmed this is something I should be able to do, but for some reason I can't? it's not something that has been eliminated in a patch which would let me highlight units by drawing a box around them?
  6. If you watch this video at 4:55 he is able to draw a box around several brigades and highlight them like I used to be able to do in UG Gettysburg. However, I noticed as soon as I started playing UGCV I can no longer highlight anything by drawing a box around them. Not even one brigade. I can draw the box around them, but nothing inside the box gets highlighted. I have to click each individual brigade one at a time and give them orders individually. Is there something I'm missing here?
  7. Awesome! Break out the schnapps. Now we might not have to worry anymore about our shipments of Lebkuchen making it to the islands! Thanks, Merry Christmas!
  8. The alliance was not in place yet during the night of that port capture. If you're saying it was, it's simply not true.
  9. Dude, you are totally off base. Again, you say you can see our votes. There were no votes or voting system when this went down. Why do you keep bringing this up when it didn't exist? It wasn't until the night we took Corrientes that Cordova made contact with the US. Bottom line is Pirates can't be trusted and we will leave it as that. I never felt comfortable with Cordova's negotiations with rats, so I'm glad it's clearly over.
  10. There were no "you all pacts". There was an agreement that we could take all ports west of Concepcion. We felt this included Corrientes. Again there was no voting for alliances when this all went down. But it doesn't matter. The point is the reasoning of the US/Brit alliance, and you haven't given a reason why it shouldn't exist.. You've only proven why it should.
  11. Loco level headed? If I'm not mistaken, it was loco who lead the charge to take all the brit ports after the misunderstanding that occurred from the capture of Corrientes. If 7grams wasn't on vacation when that happened, I bet the whole situation could have been avoided. Loco is the primary cause of the whole escalation.
  12. Rubbish. We weren't allied with US until pirates declared all out war against us. You're just making stuff up to serve your cause. But after all, it did work out for the best because now we have allies that are voted on as a whole and we can trust.
  13. No we weren't allied with US. The ally system didn't even come out until after that incident. If Cordova had any agreements with the US before then I was not aware or my clan mates as far as I am aware. So don't say "you". Cordova is the leader of a clan we work with because he is an good organizer, a fun guy to game with and generally seems like a pretty decent guy. Unlike the image you all tried to paint on him over that one stupid port. As far as I am aware, he didn't go to the US until he came to your TS announcing we were taking that port, but you all had a fit over it. We all had already sailed up there to take it, so he had pressure on him from us as well not to have us sail up there for nothing. We wouldn't have gone up there if we didn't think it was safe to take without problems. The whole issue could have been resolved much more civilized. But no, you all had to go over board and take all our ports. Now it has been revealed what you are capable of. You should have just taken a few ports, even at Jamaica to make your point, but no, you had to take it as far as you could. So if you really wanted to make this image that you are fighting against two super powers, you should have been a little more stealthy about what you are capable of instead of taking out your beef against Cordova against the whole Brit population, but that's the bed you made. Besides, I like being allied with US. No pirate harbor was ever safe for us to sail into even with Cordova's alliance.
  14. The Brit/ US alliance is a direct result of the Pirate war against the Brits. Even with the alliance, Pirates were able to take all the Brit ports on PVP2. Now Brits are taking some back only because Pirates have decided not to defend them very much. Since Pirates were able to take all the Brit ports even with the US/Brit alliance, this is why the alliance needs to be there. It's not voted by one group. It's voted by most Brit and US players because they've seen and haven't forgotten what the Pirates were able to do and did to the Brits and I doubt it will be forgotten any time soon.
  15. Someone stated online that we need to move our warships out of free ports we have them in, if not we will have to use a trader to get them out by adding the warships to the traders fleet. I am referring to free ports that aren't moving or being eliminated. I just re-read through this entire thread and I don't see anything that indicates this. Can it be confirmed that our warships are safe in the free ports we own which aren't being moved or eliminated?
