Career Paths?

So this is a suggestion that I would love to see added to the game.

 

I would love to see a class system implemented to create a need for merchant/traders, and Shipwrights.  What does the community and the devs think about this? 

 

I figure there would be three types of careers:

 

Military (Your largest fighting ships)

Merchants / traders (Your Largest Trading ships)

Shipwrights / Crafters (Your smaller trading ships and larger outpost warehouses)

 

I offer this suggestion because after a while in game everyone will be able to craft every ship and shop at every port in their nation or with Neutral characters. This would put a limit on the value of investing the time to build and up your crafting level. It would give a role to Players who want to trade goods to crafting shipwrights who intern sell to military captains and merchants/traders as well.  That way there is a nice rounded player run economy. 

 

Also players who want to play a military career could make a merchant second character and help out the shipwrights or vice verse . 

 

Again just my thoughts on how to make this game more clear in defined social/economice/fighting roles.

it was intended to have no old style class system wich locks abilitys to your character.

 

you can folow the path of an navy officer accepting orders of admirality and progressing in the ranks

at the same time no one forces you to do it.

 

in the mean time if you want to you can offer yourself as escort for Trading players or simply as Privateer to clear an area from x or Y with the payment coming for an real player that agreeded to the offer.

 

some people tend more towards Crafting other to just hauling and sailing around and then there are others who want this to be turned into an quick matchmaking action game since they dont care about the things around fighting like others do.

 

and so on

It be nice if players could make contracts or missions kinda like eve. If a merchant needs an escort he can make a job contract and put it out on a job market or something. Or the admiralty could make missions for the navy to follow or they could make a contract for crafters to build some ships. That way careers would form naturally instead of forcing players to pick a certain field, but I like the idea of careers.
