Maybe the ability to choose from a selection of portraits? Because I don't really like playing as a guy with grey hair and a silly beard. I want to play as a guy with a silly mustache instead. The random ones are quite similar. Tired of getting Baldy Moustachenson... It reminds me of old Sierra's Civil War Generals I & II. As for the female portraits... NUTS!
