Make plain wood paint theme 'default' on all ships.

Recommended Posts

Hello, if you take a look at the Cerberus model you will realize that it has no paint and looks simple, but great.

So, my suggestion is:

1. Make natural wood color for all ships as 'Default'

2. Have paint mix recipes drop from missions or other events or just simple OS fights.

3. Have 'Historical' paint themes as a very rare drop.

Build Ship (Default cured wood color) ---> Produce Paint(Find recipe and start crafting paint) ---> Paint Ship(use produced paint quantity to paint your newly built ship).

Once recipe is learned, crafters can start producing paint in gallons. Quantity should depend on ship size. Please research/suggest what ingredients can also be added to the game or could be found in Mines while mining!

History

In 1718, Marshall Smith invented a "Machine or Engine for the Grinding of Colours" in England. It is not known precisely how it operated, but it was a device that increased the efficiency of pigment grinding dramatically. Soon, a company called Emerton and Manby was advertising exceptionally low-priced paints that had been ground with labour-saving technology:

One Pound of Colour ground in a Horse-Mill will paint twelve Yards of Work, whereas Colour ground any other Way, will not do half that Quantity.
By the proper onset of the Industrial Revolution, paint was being ground in steam-powered mills and an alternative to lead-based pigments was found in a white derivative of zinc oxide. Interior house painting increasingly became the norm as the 19th century progressed, both for decorative reasons and because the paint was effective in preventing the walls rotting from damp. Linseed oil was also increasingly used as an inexpensive binder.

'Basic wood' should not be default. Most of the game's ships would never be left 'bright.'

It would be like making Model-T black the default for a racing game involving 1950s cars, until you earn a coat of paint.

So Gods painted ships for us? or paint was included in the production cost? I've never noticed anything about paint supplies.  :D I mean historically it should be in the game.

Who said that Constitution had to be White and Black, but not Red and black like the one from Master and Commander movie? Some players would like to see some variety and make their Fleet in a specific color theme.

So Gods painted ships for us?

The enemy sure didn't paint ships either.

It would be great if Constitution came with an option for a different color scheme, but making all ships painted 'bright' (varnished and oiled wood) with subsequent MMO loot paintdrops is a no-go.

No, sorry but don't like that idea. Keep the ships painted the way they are now, and let us find/buy some alternate and historical paint schemes. Don't want to have ships painted the same way unless I randomly find some appropriate color-scheme.
