reverse teleporting trading ships

Recommended Posts

I am now liking no teleporting as it was too easy to bring material to you capital with no risk . This has also made me build and buy exceptional trading ships to do the job.......or at least...can try.  However.  I have to now sail back empty.   or teleport by capturing another trader.       My quick suggestion is to have a way to send it back without having to sail the way. (gold cost) or (maybe goes to npc status).

Also If would be great if we could hire ships with our traders besides basic cutters.

Simple.   Only player built trader ships or bought player ships have the ability to return to original exit point with nothing in hold for free. This would free up the frusttration of attacking a player trader and there is nothing on board, yet he is preserving his exceptional rating ship.  This happens a lot.  It makes me frustrated and we need to get rid of frustration.

In fact this is quite easy made currently if you have a friend with 3 free minutes with you  and an outpost where you want the empty boat   (and chances are you got it), by somewhat abusing smuggler system........

So in fact I think making "Send to Outpost" mechanic allowable from port would get rid of the "friend" need and ease things for solo players

Adding risk/ simulted travel to "send to outpost" could be done later for adding salt to it (and apply both prizes and "sent" ships)

Before:

A trade raider had to travel back and forth searching for cargo ships. The chances to engage in this gameplay style was almost null.

A trader simply had to go empty to the end of the line, passing a few towns along the way. Teleport back at the end of the line

Now:

A trade raider has to travel back and forth and search for cargo ships. The chances are slim, 1 out of 24, but at least there's prey.

A trader has to plan his route. Sail in "somewhat" safe waters. Pick up cargo and get back to wherever he needs to.

Benefits:

Both gameplay styles are playing an even field. Sailing, watching the horizon, tagging and counter-tagging, chase and pursuit.

Both have to send ships to outposts ( or buy one there ).

Both can travel in, trade convoys or raider squadrons.

Both can be attacked, by raiders and by nation patrol/escorts.

Level gameplay achieved.
