Client.exe hanging after pressing start - secondary travel laptop

I have posted in Steam boards but will post again here. This is my secondary/travel computer. Does server side settings cause issues?

  • i5 - 2410M (low but others are in game with the same or less)
  • GT 520M direct x 11.1 shader cache 5.0 according to the Nvidia site. Nvidia GPU selected for both files in Control Panel. http://www.geforce.com/hardware/notebook-gpus/geforce-gt-520m/features
  • 8 GB Ram
  • W10 - tried in compatibility mode for W7 on both client.exe and client_.exe
  • Cache verified on Steam
  • Launched in normal and x86 modes
  • Anti virus file exception for NA folder
  • ping of 317ms from hotel wifi but could ports could be blocked. Mobile internet isn't an option in this location.

Any one else come across this on their laptop or secondary pc?

EDIT: Fixed. It appeared to be a firewall issue with the hotel. Loaded the game fine at home.

It might be the problem but I have specifically gone in and selected the "preferred gpu for this game" option in the control panel. I realise that the integrated GPU is way below the limits but I was hoping for a fix.

EDIT: Trying the global settings to see if that makes a difference.
