I know it is unfortunate news but the graphics requirements were available to you before purchase. I suggest you have a look on your local Gumtree/Craigslist/FreeCycle groups for something cheap that will meet the requirements. The game will always be in your Steam Library for when you are able to play.

Are there keyboard mappings for Repair / Sailing / Gunnery / Survival?

I am sure that there should be a way to access your screenies per game from within the Steam client too. Have a poke around in the Steam menus.

47 and I did NOT inherit my Dad's hair. His was gone by my age and I still have the lot... well, most of it anyway! Enough so that I can say it is still all there. I cut my teeth on Elite, Revs and Repton on the BBC B, lost a seriously large chunk of my life to Angband and Moria on the Amiga 500 and then had to wait till I owned my own home before buying a 486SX... the MONTH before the 486DX was announced, dammit! I'll chip in too - I am in Edinburgh myself and also waiting out in the cold with my nose pressed against the PayPal window for the next couple of days. I didn't have a Speccy - I was in the BBC B camp followed by my own Amiga500. I can also state that I became "Elite" on the BBC B from a side Mining Laser shot at a cargo barrel while I should have been revising for my mock O-Levels. Some things you just don't forget!

Given that there are laptop users playing, I'd say yes... but at 1080p and no AA. Perhaps drop the shadows a level? These are guesses from similar questions on other games (such as EuroTruck) and should result in a playable level of detail. Your overclocked i5 should be more than enough for the game's CPU needs but the 560 would require you to turn a few things down.
