  1. There's been a few updates since i posted this, it may not have been noticed.
  2. Just thought I'd share, the ~1927 USA AI built quite an effective heavy cruiser with that hull you added, it kicked the ass of my modernized relic from 1912.
  3. I wouldn't, you need the original to build all the refits off of. if you build the refit off the copy, its not backward compatible with those ships built off the original.
  4. If you make a refit based on the original hull you copied, you can refit the ships built off the copied design too, turning them back into the original class.
  5. On my 1910 German campaign, into the 20s i noticed several tech tree anomalies. unlocking radar before mk5 stereoscopic, also stereoscopic 3 and 4 unlocked befog their coincidence counterpart. unlocked 22in torps before 21in and here i unlocked super battleships before the smaller modern battleships, leaving me with these hulls to chose from "hull form optimization" should have come after "modern battleship hull design"
  6. Why WOULDN'T my 1920 Germany that won the first world war be building super battleships? Of course they would lol. Ya I was thinking of posting that all in the 1.3 thread, didn't think you touched those things. It will be interesting to see how things unlock next, the campaign unlocks are far a field, will i even get access to smaller modern battleships? oh, and just unlocked modern torp boat, sadly it appears the tower has not been unlocked yet, at least i know thats yours.
  7. lmao well its a good thing i gave up on that dread 5 from the last post because the very next turn 'hull form optimization' unlocked and obsoleted that hull, the most advanced hull i had at that point. not only that it unlocked super battleship 1 and 2? skipping any modernized dreads and modern battleships, strait to the largest super battleships in the game, unlocked in 1920. This is probably all stock game issues, maybe the intent of that research was too obsolete the now quite old dreadnought 3? lets see, while I'm complaining about my german tech tree i noticed that the tooltip is at least saying i'm unlocking 22in torps when i haven't unlocked 21in, and so far stereoscopic unlocks before coincidence. And in that nutty hull strengthening category, you unlock dread 3 on 'dreadnought improvements 2', and then 'hull strapping', 'reinforced longitudinal hull', and 'advanced structural steal' all unlock nothing, then 'lightweight fittings' unlock dread 4 and 5, and next 'hull form optimization' takes dread 5 away and gives you super battleships. Interesting. just checked that in custom battles and you have dread 3,4,5 between 1919 to 1926, and in 1927 you have dread 5, and modern 1,2. In 1929 dread 5 is gone and the super battleships appear, just like what 'hull form optimization' causes in the campaign. something is screwy, and this isn't some ancient campaign its less than a week old.
  8. Well ya, but that would override what they put in the update and mess something else up. Doesn't it need to be merged? Around 1920 in my 1910 German campaign I'm designing a new dreadnought 5 with 15 mk2 17.2in guns (largest that fit on the front tower), a long shot that it would fit sure, and when it doesn't i try the current common caliber i'm using, mk2 15.9, and I find it didn't reduce weight at all. so i stuck a 17.2in gun on the front to compare directly, and with the mk, barrel caliber and armor all the same, the 17in gun weights the same or less! Is there a weight factor i missed?
  9. This appears to be the naval invasion/conquest location of southern France, off the cost of northwest Italy. Also, during the entire invasion, i didn't see the battle in the list of invasion/conquest casualty reports at the start of new turns. mouseing over guns in battle no longer highlights them on the ship.
  10. Highlight color missing from conquered Chile and Portuguese Congo. Also could something be done about the firing arcs of the American "iowa" turrets? they are unreasonably terrible, and it appears to be mainly because the barrels are so wide apart. In the picture, you can see the barrels aren't anywhere close to the superstructure yet the firing arc is massively restricted, and in battle those turrets will traverse right into the superstructure and get stuck there half the time, but refused to fire from were they are plus 30 degrees ago. If you look at the single turret though the firing arc is fine and what you would expect. if the singles firing arc could just be force applied to the dual and triple this would be fixed.
  11. After your latest update, thats what i'm seeing now too. The super tall thats even larger than that, you can put as small as 14in on it, but thats because its a 'big' superimposed barbette scaled up by the devs, bringing with it the range of guns you can put on the original. Its a nice thought, tinkering with barrette scale, but probably only worth doing if you find a way to edit what can be placed on what.
  12. This was checked on custom battle, and at the time I didn't have a single 1940 Japanese design stored anywere at all, last time i deleted my saves was update befor last. This wasn't on your new hull, but the flat top large cruiser. I've seen the ai put smallish main guns on extra large barbets plenty of times, I don't think there's a limit there. There would limitations on what you could put on smaller barbetts scaled up unfortunetly.
  13. The already good Japanese cruiser variety made that much better! On the non experimental Japanese large cruiser there's 2 sets of modern tower 1 and 2, and the 1 and 2 that weigh the least have massively better accuracy bonuses. Not sure if you touched that hull or if it a stock game thing. while tinkering with the shrunk yamato hull experimental large cruiser, and trying to build around the slope, i got an idea. what if you took some of those big, huge, enormous and gigantic barrettes, and scaled them down until they had about the same diameter as the smaller medium barrettes? what you would have is a very short barrette that would work real well with the yamato hull slope. You could do the opposite too, and take one of the medium barrettes, and scale it up, and end up with an especially tall barrette for some bigger guns.
  14. This did help on several edge cases makeing things at least fit at all, especially for cruiser, and the new parts too. Cant solve all the intrinsic problems with the iowa gun, but its definitely an improvement, thanks for that. Ah, i know some of the newer parts added are clearly just stretched older parts, wasn't sure if that was done to the mesh or done when scaling things in the files.
  15. ships accelerate so quickly anyway it needs to be that bad to notice any sluggishness. A big minus to cruising speed too, but it was still a crazy 30 knots. Sharp maneuvers are hardly necessary at that speed you just enter and exit combat at will, but i did mean to put the rudder on that doesn't bleed speed as much. If you placed a single barrel turret there, the fire arc would be fine. if it were possible to apply the single barrel collision box to the dual and triple, they would be fixed. the firing arcs at least. hmm, if these towers were made more narrow, that might help, and it sure would be a lot easier to place torps to the side of them too. just need to be wide enough for funnels. This is just a real good example of the problem, the tower is a fine size for the hull, and the mk3 guns fit just fine, its just that mk4 model thats so oversized. Thanks to the quads using a texas like model, you can do easy direct comparisons of the older and newer turrets designs of the same diameter.
  16. ugg, it never ends with this frigin turret model large cruiser, before mk4 15.9in after mk4 15.9in This is the biggest tower too, this cant be fixed, not even 15.0in fits. They are just gigantic in addition to all the other problems with this turret, they are WAY oversized, at every inch they should be shrunk at least 15%. There is a huge difference in barrel and bore diameter between the 2 models, its not just the gun housing. i know you cant change the size of 1 or the other, and thats fine, both barrels and housing are too large. the only time these guns aren't totally awful is when your building modern battleship 2 or larger, any smaller hull is all but broken by this turret model unlocking. Its so bad a problem the actual game devs should be the ones addressing it, but i'm pretty sure they got a single art guy anymore.
  17. I'm not necessarily seeing much longer turns, but everything will freeze for 5 seconds when i select a research focus.
  18. looks like the last update updated the english.lng file too, just noticed i can chose between krupp 1-3 lol. At least the guy who found the bug provided screen shots of the problem.
  19. thats eventually what i went with on that hull, god's own ultra destroyer. 49 knots, 12 torp broadside, with enough 5in guns to shred anything smaller than it. I cant remember the last time any of my ships hit mines, the red circle of death is actually accurate for mine field size these days, i've never seen any evidence that mine sweeper actually work ever. I do find 1 excellent light cruiser for every capital ship protect them from subs about 90% of the time. thats what i'm sort of running into in the early 30s, my excellent but long in the tooth scout cruiser 2s that are at about 10k tons just got obsoleted and replaced by that modern scout hull thats only half the tonnage. the modern light cruiser is also of a smaller displacement, and is ultra generic. instead of getting smaller, the heavy cruiser unlocks just get larger and more supper-er. thats a great solution, the tower without barrette, these guns are workable if given enough room. they are totally awful when you don't though, and only have towers with mounts, like modern light cruiser. Haven't unlocked mk5 11in yet, but i know they will give me the same problems on all the heavy cruiser hulls, old and with new 1.3 parts. the main problem remains that the model has awful firing arcs, and is not well suited for use on these smaller ships. It seems to be how wide and spaced out the barrels are, see its fine with a single barrel no way to mess with that in the data files? just hard coded into the models?
  20. Cool hull for a cruiser! ya not long ago i supposedly unlocked a heavy cruiser 2 in my campaign and nothing was added, very timely addition for me! just unlocked the fast scout cruiser too, the new hull and parts from 1.3, and trying to build something with mk5 6/7in guns is awful, that turret model has the worst firing arcs of any gun model in the game, seems to be because the barrels are so wide and far apart, if you stick a single barrel version on a mount and the firing arc is ok. Don't suppose there's any way to adjust such a thing in the data? Apply the single barrel collision box to the dual and triple? Or are those collision dimensions based purely on the model? I'm holding off refiting my current light cruisers due to how awful the fireing arcs will be on the mk5 guns, they might not even fit were the mk4s are placed at all. if nothing can be done about the mk5 model, I still think those russian secondarys sized up to about the same size as the mk4 guns would look both somewhat historical and much more user friendly. Or just use the capital ship 7,8in model for cruiser 6-9in
  21. There only obsolete to me, and my very advanced technology level. They are still second to none anywhere else in the world
  22. None of my minor allies have been interested in buying my mothballed ships after the patch, it was multiple a month before now its been 6 months of nothing. Its not a new campaign though.
  23. Pulled off a conquest of Chile, bit it didn't turn my faction color.
