  1. Thank you, that's what I try to say for some time now. Some starboard turrets to not rotate or fire.
  2. Year was 1936 and there were torpedo-armed Ships involved. And, yes, it crashed when building up towards a battle.
  3. As for the placement of secondaries, here are a few pictures of the problem. I think, that secondary turrets are now (or were before Alpha 12) too big, sometimes. Hm...I wanted to upload more, but an unknown error keeps occuring. Anyway, often you cannot place a secondary or larger torpedo tubes on the side of a ship. This is especially true with vessels which mount large superstructures like german or british cruisers (you cannot place 5' secondaries). Torpedo tubes are now scales, which is good. But you cannot really mount larger tubes on the side of many vessels, especially japanese large oxygen-type tubes, they are simply too big, even for heavy cruisers (on a side note, japanese and german-style tubes seem to have switched places with one another). On the picture with the japanese battleship, I tried to mount 102mm guns on the superstructure. Before Patch Alpha 12 that was possible on all fixture points. Now, only four out of six can mount the guns. 127mm guns will only be accepted on the lower three hardpoints. On smaller vessels, like heavy cruisers, you can only mount 76mm-type guns on the superstructure. However, these often come into conflict with forward-mounted main guns, causing them to go "red".
  4. All right, here we go: My CPU is a 3600 6-Core 3.59 Ghz regarding the too many threads. As for the guns not firing. The ones on the first image are the ones on starboard. The target was a light cruiser within range. Two of the guns, those with green arrows, are firing as they should. The red-arrowed one does not turn or fire, though the turret elevates the barrels. The other picture shows the guns on the port side, after I turned the ship around. Being mounted on the exact opposite of the hull, all three are turning and firing. So it should not be a problem of obstructing superstructure or smaller guns (the next guns were 127mm in the superstructure, far away). So...why? This problem repeats on smaller vessels, most common on light cruisers, but also on german battleships with some frequency, though by far not always.
  5. Hello again, unfortunately, the problem with guns not moving or firing also persists. This only occurs with starboard-mounted guns, port-mounted are absolutely fine, so it should not have anything to do with obstructing superstructure. As you can see, this Austrian-Hungarian battlecruiser uses three twin 152mm guns per side. All three port guns DO move and fire. The foremost of the starboard guns is stuck in place. While the barrels elevate, it does not turn or fire. This problem persists with many guns mounted starboard and on many ship-types. Am I doing anything wrong?
  6. Thanks for the update. The "Too many threads"-bug still persists, however.
  7. No, I do not remember it, but I will try to look after it in the future and will submit a report if this happens again. It was not too far, but I cannot give you numbers. Many thanks to you for caring There is another thing that bothers me a bit more, however : Often, guns mounted on the starboard side of a ship will not turn or fire. This often happens on many ship-classes, like on that battleship below. The forward 152mm triple gun does not turn nor engage. The portside equivalent is fine, though.
  8. I know that and that's war. Mogami sailed in a different group than the transport ships, however, a good distance away. My destroyers were in ecorting formation, not a mile away from their charges. Yet, they still fired. And it was not even nighttime :). Bad maneuvering or forgetting about your very long range oxygen torpedoes is one thing, my fault. But that now happened twice, once with light cruiser, second time with the above mentioned BCs and CL.
  9. hmm...as for additional feedback...can you please implement a routine that keeps your own destroyers from torpedoing your own vessels? In a recent game I had two battlecruisers and one light cruiser sunk by my own destroyers. Quite embarassing
  10. I also feel that the AI is going to build the strongest, not neccessarily the biggest, battleship possible. Usually, it is 1.5 knots faster than yours and often much better armed, though many times less well-protected. I cannot count the times I wanted to go "treaty", design a BB with 356mm guns, 28 knots and such and the AI blows me out of the water with a first or second salvo hit with super heavy shells from an autoloaded 508mm gun. But this not only extends to battleships. I personally dread the 229mm-armed heavy cruisers with up to 35 torpedo tubes (well, since torpedo tubes are now really, really big, this should be a thing of the past). Yet, the 9' weapon seems to be able to crack Krupp IV 50cm armored command towers and AI cruisers pack a lot of these, usually. It is no fun. I like challenges, do not get me wrong. But having to re-start a battle again and again to make sure the Ai does not have a megaship is a bit frustrating. Again, I would advocate to be able to save your designs and use them in custom battles (to be used by you and the enemy and encompassing the entire fleet, not just one ship class). This would balance the game more and you are able to re-create historical designs (and tactics) and put them against each other.
  11. While playing today, I no longer was stuck with german, Deutschland-style torpedo tubes. Rather, now japanese-style torpedo tubes were available for all torpedo tubes, including on austrian-hungarian ships and german vessels. Repeatedly, the game crashed with the "too many threads"-error, occuring while using german superbattleship and japanese battlecruiser. Also, many weapons mounts cannot be fitted on japanese towers that were mountable before.
  12. Good morning and first of all, thanks for the hard work in giving us this mod. I have, however, discovered some things, that dissapoint me a bit. Playing mostly with german ships, I was surprised that you cannot seem to build a Bismarck-style ship anymmore. The secondary guns (152mm, 127mm) do not fit the side "sockets" anymore on battleships, large cruisers and battlecruisers anymore. Also, german superstructures come with built-in barbettes. These, however, are very limited in what weapons they accept. While it is no problem to fit, say, 457mm guns on american barbettes, german will not accept 432mm weapons on a standard battleship hull, for example. Also, while I am happy to see the new Graf Spee-style bridge in the game, I would have liked to see these to be placed on german battlecruisers and large cruisers also. Finally, but that's probably just me, I cannot find an option for different torpedo launcher looks. I am stuck with the same, Deutschland-class launchers, regardless what type I chose and what country I play.
  13. Hi there, my name is Jens, I am from Germany and since I was eight or so I am interested in warships. So I was overjoyed to finally get my hands on UAD. I really like it, some issues of course, but it is an alpha version. However...There are some little tiny things that I really do not like as much. -Computer-generated ships are often ridicously one-sided. Many of them pack an enormous amount of main weapons, randomly distributed around the hull. Probably to increase the chances of hitting anything at long range or so. That does not make much sense. I suspect there is a random generator to do this, but some basic "reality" would be nice. -Torpedo tubes on vessels, computer or player generated, tend to be placed on the stern. That only makes sense on larger vessels, but is a common feature on destroyers. Placing them amidships on destroyers, for balance and to protect the launchers from being swamped by seawater, generates the message that some weapons have a bad field of fire. I know that modern destroyer hulls are not yet completely implemented, but it is a tiny thing that galls me. As mentioned in other posts, the option to save your designs to be used again in later games would be a terrific thing :). Also, it would be extremely nice if you could create ALL ships in a custom game, not just the biggest one. Sometimes, the smaller vessels are a bit...unbalanced. Some cannot keep up with the vessel they should be escorting, some are over-gunned etc. A balanced battlegroup is a thing of luck and I really wish you would change this. I also would like to see an option to put existing designs into the game to chose from. That would create the ability to play custom what-if scenarios and re-enact historical battles (River Plate, Justland, Guadalcanal, etc.). As said, I am new and I apologize if someone asked these questions somewhere already.
  14. I agree, that will be most helpful. Also, there should be an option for cstom battles to design ALL of the participating ships, not just the biggest one. That would help to create a balanced battlegroup. Some custom designs are...well...ridiculous. Creating a 30 knot fast battleship is nice. Your escorting heavy cruisers are sometimes only able to make 26 knots. But they are tightly packed with a plethora of random weapons...so, please, create an option to design your entire squadron. Thanks
