  1. I'd make the case that recognition should also be given to those who manned the forums and answered new peoples' questions. (Most are mods now, ie. Henry, I guess that is recognition enough, but it was rather thankless work done by them answering the same questions over and over or linking threads.)

  2. Hi guys..

I am creating this topic just to say something.. I just want to be a one of staff member here in this forum or game. If I go to apply for staff member to be a moderator in here, but I might get denied due to low age, cuz my age's 14

my dreams were to become a moderator in any forum on internet, I always felt like doing something useful for this community. I know that many people want to become staff members. I know that many of you guys really want to become a staff member, just because you want to help, but you are always denied. Believe me, I know that feeling very well. Please do not help other people just because you want to be noticed how much you care about the rules (actually you don't), or just because you want to become a mod. Help because you want to help. That's all.

Don't feel bad, I got declined and I've been here since 2013. Some call me abrasive :( Maybe my journeys have reformed me, we will see, you grow in every opportunity in life, whether you realize it or not.

  3. I don't spend much time on other game forums besides this one but I spend a lot of time on various forums of interest. This one is pretty tame in my opinion with the occasional uproar.

Very tame  B).. a slight argument gets attention fast.

  4. Last 2 electronic anything I put together ended very badly. No matter how easy it is I just find a way to ruin it lol. If I went the build route I would have to have someone assemble it.

That and computer builds are politics and religion. Seen many discussions get heated quickly and I don't know enough to know who is right and wrong.

Fair enough. If you have a local computer store they will often charge a 50$ fee to assemble, which, if you can find a store that does it, will save you money still compared to buying a prebuilt.

Also where are you from? If your from the US or  Canada I can give you some prebuilt ideas.

  5.

From my point of view I believe it can give players with mid range video cards ability to enjoy ultra settings. It will make textures on far objects (Mountains, water, textures etc.) smooth and could decrease gpu load. In this case you will have ultra details, textures etc.. on closer objects and your ship + high FPS rates. F32+ is current game setting.

This isn't how it works. It makes your load more not less. Decreasing FPS, not increasing it.

  6. A very strange thing happened to me today. Due to the low number of players, I decided to do some PVE for a change. I was in a Snow (I think, it may have been the NavyBrig), and I got matched up against a NavyBrig and a Brig. The battle began and both ships headed towards me. Equipped with 6pd longs, I tried some ranging shots, but they fell short. As the enemy closed in, they turned and began firing. I was moving forward and their shots fell behind me. I fired a few more shots, which missed, and then I attempted to maneuver. I discovered that my rudder was stuck halfway between center and port, and I had no sail control. I began skewing to the left, not turning. I was gliding through the water on a diagonal path. I tried to use f11, but the battle abruptly ended as a draw. It only lasted a few minutes, and neither side took any damage.

Sounds like the instance crashed perhaps? It's like when a round ends on a storm map and for those few seconds your ship just slides through the waves awkwardly as the victory screen thing pops up.

    That's my guess.

  7. Then why could ArcheAge do it?

So you mean that the world is "real" size but the ships move at extreme speeds? how do you not crash into islands then?

    ArcheAge again.

Where to start... First, and most importantly, archage'a ocean is much much much much smaller. Its 10 minutes east to west and 30 minutes north to south. The combat is also not as intensive, it's a mmo at heart, point, click, lock on, etc etc. As well as having multiple instances per server to restrict the number of ships on said ocean at any one time to a manageable number. Ever wonder why it's not just boats upon boats upon boats as you would expect for servers "full" back near launch?

If you are talking about the land part of archage then you need to go read about how servers work, shards, instances and the rest of it. Just ask yourself why there are zones that are connected by small connectors. Oh and the zones are tiny.

On a side note, got to love that pop in of players and mobs in AA. Maybe they should "afford better servers?"

  8. You mean they can't afford good servers? What do you mean by time compression?

    What issues?

Search the forums for the full thread, but the tldr is you can't have a non-instanced massive world while having the complexity of the combat mechanics in naval action, x1000 or 2000 times for each player on the ocean at any given point at any given time. For example, every ball tracked, manual sails, you name it. If you were happy with a point and click game with no depth then sure, it could be done. Also remember that the open sea is compressed so it doesn't take you days or weeks to move around, so having battles take place in slower time with ships in the area travelling at compressed speeds would look odd don't you think.

And before you discuss shards or other instance variations please remember you said 'it's not open world if it has instances.'

It's been discussed ad nauseum in other threads but the fact that battles will be instances remains and it is going to be that way. It just technically isn't feasible between the team size, technical limitations, engine limitations, you name it.

I'd ask you to refrain from making uninformed statements like "can't afford good servers" when that has nothing to do with the situation. There's a reason there are no truely open world games without some hidden instances or tiny maps or being single player. This is 16 million sq km with thousands of players. Not mine craft or skyrim or any other instanced sad excuse for 'open world' where you just happen to be surrounded by impassable mountains, but hey it's 'open' because you can roam around and then do instanced dungeons :).

  9. hey flip I got one for ya when do the next set of ships come out when o.s. testing begins or sooner ?

Going off a guess here... Considering the devs have said the final sea trials patch has already been issued, I wouldn't expect new ships until the open world launches. That said, there are a few, which, last we heard, were nearing completion such as the ingermanland (sp?). So maybe we will see it before hand but assuming open world is close to being ready for initial testing by all accounts, I would expect them after said event.

I refrain from adding this kind of Q and A since the answers are not backed by facts and can lead people astray.
