I would say yes, but i don't think there is a dev produced answer and a solution would be more current playerbase actions as a whole.
However i don't see this happening until perhaps game is on it's final death throws.

Because not everyone looks to ship size as the end of all. Many do not even want to sail the big stuff at all.

I'm more thinking of the hunting of low rank trade ships and the validity of inclusion within the hunt/PZ missions, kind of like basic cutter you can sink them but do not count for mission count .
I love small ships also :), but sinking 10 trader brigs for the mission reward seems a cheap way to farm chests. Making them not count to the missions would at least create something akin to basic cutter mentality where mostly they are left alone which ofc would mean new guys could get out of kpr/mortimer etc easier than currently to start their way.
Like in dutch nation we have a guy that will run in sight of an armed mercury or whatever, and only farmes t-brigs lol.

Perhaps a good initial step would be to stop 6th rate and below trade ships counting to hunt and PZ missions.
People could still sink them ofc but at moment they are just an easy way to farm the 6th rate PvP hunt missions.
Hopefully would mean newer guys could at least trade in relative peace to gain reals/dubs when setting up.

Eventually someone will catch it happening with video or stream.
I'm just concerned more about game as a whole, and have seen how exploits or whatever totally wreck a game as more and more do the same.
Perhaps is missions, voodoo, alien ship abduction i don't know but however is done needs to be closed or could become a big issue.

I suspect the AI will be a tool they will counter with, well i hope is the case.
Perhaps more someone camps an area then over time the AI have increasing chance to respond to the camper(s).
Other games use the similiar methods to prevent hunt bots farming area's by spawning something that will kill bots in an easy area, easy to avoid if playing but lethal if a farming bot.
I guess AI could be used to the same affect, with chance of AI response increasing longer someone camps a port/area.

Perhaps the AI acting will have an effect on seal clubbing.
Guess we will see.
@Atreides - good to bring this up, killing new guys doesn't help game at all. Yesterday i tagged a GB indiaman in my snow and he had 120 crew..... i let him kill me for a lift home .
If we all were more lenient with new guys perhaps the server pop would grow.

Yes basically Admin when i reported in tribuneral called out fake news.
I saw chat in global and thread title was not aimed at you, rather the whole denial complex happening .
Perhaps is people jumping nation with legacy missions, no idea but has been happening quite often lately.

Sounds ok, and happy to hear PvE server is getting some love even though i play on PvP.
Another DLC ship some will like, and after all is a choice to buy or not buy.
Can you bring diana back into the game as non DLC perhaps, or is this also destined for the same fate?

Not at the moment, but think the devs did say somewhere they are looking at some way of bringing RvR into PvE no idea how or when though.

Well it's not retaining players at the moment, server pop fall has been kinda dramatic for a released game. Admin said over 5k new people bought game after release, and again we are down to levels just above test; it's quite worrying.
