  1. Nvidia drivers are sometimes a pain in the ass.  If you haven't already I would install  DDU   https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html   and delete the display drivers completely using the tool, restart and then install a fresh download of drivers from the nvidia site.  You may need to do this once or twice.

@William Death in the clan was having issues with a 2060 I believe and the above method worked for him.

Another thought would be to upgrade your bios.  Might be a firmware issue with the PCI lanes.

  2. According to the population charts that have been posted a few times, the population is ACTUALLY relatively well spread out between several nations.....for the first time in what seems like forever.  Recalling from memory here, but I think Pirates, Dutch, GB and Russia all have somewhere between 14-16% of the population.  We used to have GB at 25ish%, pirates in the 15-20% range and everyone else filling in afterwards.  The balance is pretty damn good all things considering.  Of course that is not RVR numbers and nations like GB probably need to have a bigger slice of the pie to be effective.  It's shame that the current RVR system is such utter shit and the game seemingly discourages even doing RVR.  If we had cheaper ships, less intensive grinds and a common sense front line system this game could have had a very competitive end game content system.  BUUUUUTTTTT despite being in early access for 3 years the game was finished before it was ready and half assed changes were forced down our throats just to get the game out before the steam summer sale.  Sigh.

  3. So HAN was there helping Pirates.  BF was there sinking pirates (and everyone else).  Seems balanced enough to me.

The same dudes who helped GB and HAVOC reduce Spain and Prussia to basically nothing several months ago now gets upset when the same thing starts happening to them.

Set the PB BR to 1000 and I bet ppl will bring one 1st rate and something else. Set the BR to 5000 and I bet ppl will bring 5 1st rates and something else. Set it to 15000 and ppl will bring 16 1st rates and something else. Where is the variety in that plan?

And having junk 1st rates is not the same as having perfect built 1st rates made of iron. But at least it gives a better chance than being stuck in low rates against iron built 1st rates. And it's better than being in an empty knowledge slot 1st rate because every time you go to a PB with one it sinks, so you never get experience to unlock it.

I still think the best way to force variety in PBs is to make each port have a BR per Rate mechanic.

Maximum ship ranks I think is necessary

  5. Cheap ships to encourage RVR and PVP is a great idea... only if they are crafted.  Back in the fine woods days we had multiple 1st rate battles sometimes daily with 100 folks involved.  Ships were lost over and over.  But because they were easy to replace...everyone focused on the fighting rather than the time and expense needed to organize crafting.  This should be the case in the current version of the game and it sadly is not.

Capturable AI ships is a low effort solution that will ultimately end up failing because what ACTUALLY needed to be done to improve RVR and PVP wasn’t.   As is tradition.

Sometimes I wonder what the point of Early Access was... we keep getting untested or failed mechanics forced down our throat that no one seems to have requested.

Heth you’ve been around long enough to know bad ideas.  This one is a first class stinker.  As part of the “1st rates should matter” and the “my immersion” crowd you got exactly what was desired with the dubs and permit madness.  1st rates and such a pain in the ass to churn out that it seems half the games population within the first 2 months said..meh, screw it and left.

Making first rates more rare isn’t a terrible thing....but making them more rare and difficult to produce AND making almost all ports need at least 10 of them to fill BR is a mind boggling stupid design decision.  So stupid that as was predicted we’ve been steadily losing population since week 1... so much in fact that now we have this captured ship travesty at our hands like it will somehow fix everything.  It won’t.

Sorry for the rant boys and girls...but watching poor game design over and over just gets exasperating.

I do find it amusing that all the Pirates complaining about what we did or didn’t do are all Pirates that magically appeared after the release.  WTF hemorrhaged pirate ports by the boat load prior to the wipe.  We took them back.  Their memory seems a bit vague on that point.  I’m glad BL4CK took the Santiago region, most of ports had a VCO or 5x tag a few months ago.  I’d be happy to defend Russian ports if BL4CK decides to actually attack a nation who’s PB strategies don’t involve beaching their ships.  They won’t though.  They’ll continue to avoid the Dutch at Isla or West End and enjoy the daytime screening that Russia provides the pirate nation while chest beating inferior opponents.

I remember Koltes telling me on discord that their primary enemy and focus was going to be WO.  They had the chance, but refused to enter the PB.  2 months later Isla has yet to be attacked.

    Acta non verba

We’ll also be more than happy to show up to any arranged fight that BL4CK would like to have.  If they have the stones.  Just tell us when and where.. we’ll show up with bells on.  Anyway this thread has run its course.  The drama is stupid.  Fight us or shut up

Bro...chill out, you act like you dont like it very much over in Russia and and missing the Pirate Islands and the recent success in Cuba

To anyone watching those port battles I don't think the comments were very appraising of how well the pirates did.  In fact the consensus seems to be that the brits were utterly horrendous in both fights and seem to rely on the tried and true strategy of beaching their ships and holding on tight until the pain stops.  In the battle yesterday Atreides snatched victory from brits when he decided to sail his requin to the topmost circle with the other requin....and sink.  Rather than both choosing a circle and sitting in it as long as they could.  Brits were....terrible.  I am a little bit jealous however.  I enjoy those very close brawling fights with lots of boarding to the constant maneuvering and repairing that seems to happen around Carta.  Sinking GA is a favorite past-time of mine.

As for Russia.  We very much enjoy being there as we did right after the merge.  North and Anolytic do a good job realizing that sharks need to keep moving to survive and that content needs to be king, even if they must create it.  Clans in Russia, unlike pirates, don't refuse to enter port battles if their terms aren't met.  There's no whining or chest beating in nation chat.  No clan drama.  No one screaming about being sunk outside Mort.  People show up and do what they gotta do.

More importantly, Russia is willing to fight the dutch.  Pirate clans were not.

If you're going to post on these forums and remain in our clan, we expect you to at least have some idea of what you're talking about.  We kicked Honeybadger for being an utter moron, I don't mind doing it again.  Please note the names with the red underline.  All 12 of them, not 3.  Including Koltes and 7grams.

    1.  You guys never took any ports when BL4CK was waiting on the release.

    2.  Why should you care what port time is set to? Most of us are US players, so we will set it how we see fit!

    3.  You nuked a port???and you are showing remorse for Ed, lol.

    4.  We dont want Isla, maybe you guys should take it...

    5.  Sinking Dutch traders dont count.

    Never took any ports.....

I mean.. I could just post screenshots, but is it worth trying to refute someone with such a drastically low IQ?

    Nah.

I never understood why they only depended on one or two ports, they have a good number of high points ports to have as seconds and back ups.

Well they did. There was remedios Nuevitas and Baracoa.  In the past WTF was sketchy and would randomly take people off their friends lists for whatever reason, so hence nuevitas being the main hub.  Rax and the boys tried to build up Remedios and didn’t get very far before they left and Spain took the port.

Pirates are not as lucky as VP or GB in the regards of non capital crafting ports being 45pts.  I have no idea what the rhyme or reason to having some 20k BR ports be 25 or even 15 points is.

VCO have never done in 2 years in our absence what we have done in 2 moths.

We told them if they dont pass the port to pirates and stop milking us we will take it ourselves. They didnt believe us. We took it. They cried.

    Ooof.  So much text.

Beating the brits once isn’t something to pound your chest over.  And if the stream was correct, especially with that wind.  You say we’ve done nothing, yet you’ve been absent from the game for 2 years.  We were the only pirate clan capable of winning back the ports WTF bungled away during that time, whether it be against Prussia, US, GB, Russia or even Spain (do they count?).  And there have been plenty they lost.  Having beat most of those fellas in the Santiago PB several times, I wouldn’t take too much stock in the fight.  Will you have the stones to keep the EU timer or will you dodge it with 1-4?  I am glad you figured out how circles work.

You also told us nothing in regards to Nuevitas.  You asked for it, we said no because we knew from various sources exactly what was going to happen to the list.  And it did.  I can’t exactly say we were upset, though we’re not fan of cheaters... but that aside we’re more amused than anything with how you failed a couple of times and a allowed us to nuke everything.     You and Spain even paid for most of it.

We left pirates because it was made clear to us that you guys were unwilling to fight the Dutch given your refusal to enter every port battle against them, despite assurances from you that they were your primary enemy.  Zero attacks on Isla since we’ve been gone, and most of those guys don’t even play anymore.  We found a nation who will attack the Dutch and have been enjoying the content.

It’s funny, I’ve been telling the guys to just wash our hands of the situation completely and be done with it...but I’m not sure if it’s your paranoia or obsession with us...we just keep getting pulled back in godfather 3 style.

I'm sorry that's not the case. I attacked a Russian outside Mortimer Town the other day, pirates joined my side and the Russian sat under the fort while the pirates got destroyed by their own fort.

I sail in every battle the same way, I am commanding the ship from the deck, as opposed to moving my avatar looking down at it. If I had my way, there would be 1st person view at several command stations on deck, an d you just cycle through then with hot keys.  Main would not be tied to main mast, but quarterdeck and from the Bow to the side of the mast.  I have asked for this in the past.  The enjoyment of people watching the stream is also important, thus I will take that into consideration.

So just some observations from the battle.

1st person view.   Ok I get it and you're trying to roleplay as a captain from the deck.  It also makes the stream difficult to watch and follow, especially get a sense of the flow of battle.  I think scrolling in and out occasionally would help the viewers and yourself in game.  A captain stands on the quarterdeck instead of by the masts for a reason

Map view.  You said you weren't commanding the battle and therefor didn't open the map.  Not a good excuse.  Knowing where you are and knowing how targets are arrayed around you is important.  More than a few times you fired a broadside at a full health target and failed to notice a weaker one passing you that you could of held fire and then focused it on.  This is a crucial component of the map view.

Colorblind mode.  While I personally can't differentiate between friend or foe colors, I feel like the better streamers use this regardless.  Blue and white clearly defines what's going on around you and makes it easier for the viewers to see some of the action.  Between today's stream and the George Town battle I saw a number of missed broadsides and even some friendly fire.

Hit tab more.  Only saw it once or twice at the end there.

    ---------

Overall most of us are glad that there was a stream, but if there had been another person doing it I would have switched off of yours.  If you want folks to follow you as advertised, you gotta give us more of a show.  Had a poor sense of what was going on in that battle as a viewer other than watching you sail back and forth spraying and praying.  Some drone views occasionally of the circles would of been great.

Did we get an answer if the loot will be taken from investment in port, ore not?

I think these 2 comments need to go hand in hand.  If the raid takes investments directly away from the port owners and downgrades the port a little bit a warning message REALLY needs to go out to the defending nation and given a chance to muster a defense or interdiction fleet.  Having to just sit around during the timer and wait while people do PVE isn't exactly exciting.

    I would re-think this.

  15. The actual PB mechanics themselves actually seem cool with escorting "landing" ships and stuff.  Imagine if they were available for PVP port battles.....We've only been asking for them for years.

Will nations receive chests or other "rewards" for the added annoyance of fighting AI?  Otherwise this seems like another straw on the back of players that are already on the fence of a game that's lost 40-50% of it's population in 2 months.  This is not the content we've been looking for.
