I think many will buy them to just reduce a bit of grind. They aren't P2W

If they are allowed in PBs they are P2W.  I’m fine with cosmetic DLCs.  Most games have them.  I even fine with DLC ships.  But when those ships are better than their contemporaries, just like the herc and requin were, then they are P2W by definition.

Im even ok with a little P2W DLC content.  The devs do need to keep funding I suppose.... but we’re approaching what?  Almost 10 DLCs now for a game that wasn’t free to play and still has not been released.    Even the special early access ship promised to all of us for being loyal tester will probably end up as a DLC.  This seems excessive to me and it feels like all they are working on is DLC content to pump their loyal base dry.  Enough is enough

DLCs need not be P2W. Fortnite has the DLC idea right...let DLCs mainly be focused around cosmetics, not P2W equipment. I don't mind the best ships in class to be rare and found only in special chests, but please don't make them be only available in DLC.

Yea but if they aren’t a bit more OP, no one will buy them.

  3. With the current in game functions of BR Port battles, friendly clan lists and magical roaming Ent rare woods forests.....this is very much a clan based game.  In fact I think the nation mindset is holding the game back considerably with this mythical loyalty to in-game nations that mirror ones IRL.  Some players would rather quit than leave their nation.  This is a problem.

Naval Action really needs to figure out what it wants to be.  A Nation based game or a clan one.  The mix of the 2 leaves an imperfect balance within the game and it's not really working.  We either need to dump the clan based ports and battles and go back to the full 25 on 25 nation owned port setup with alliances (with moderation) or dump 2/3s of our current nations and adopt a clan battle based system that takes on the role of RVR.

My vision of the clan battle based game would be something like this:

    • 3 or 4 starter nations that new, PVE players or nationally minded players can join, craft, occasionally PVP and just do their thing in.  They cannot RVR.
    • 1 default faction that acts with a clan based battle mindset and clans fight over the 150 or so non national ports.  Each clan can pick a "flag" and fly that flag of the nation they chose to be.  Russia / Prussia and Poland being chief examples.  Clans fight each other, take ports and use friendly clans as an alliance type of system (with moderation).  Fight over woods, mods or whatever.
    • Pirates - real pirates.  No 1st rates, no ports, no drama.  Just thievery, tears and salt.

This is a game I'd very much like to play.

Hula , i think you should be quiet becouse in Bermudas we see enemy players hunting for russian traders and stuff . Making Flatts a free port will be a bad move becouse we Russians don't have even a single reinforcements zone or capital zone . Yesterday i saw a Pirate Agamemnon (player).

You are also a hardcore nation and don’t get a zone.

I think if players want to go up there and hunt they need to coordinate and go take the ports to island hop their way up.  Rubli and WO did it.  I would agree however that there needs to be a Freetown up on the US coast (maybe Little River) that can provide quicker access to Bermuda in general.

Aren’t you two supposed to be shit-posting on the reddit threads?  That’s where the malcontents hang out and bitch about @admin  (From what I hear).

Voicing concerns about ruining our immersion by altering a ship that might not be historically accurate sounds like a legit complaint to me.

I like to get into a prince and sail around for hours and hours.

  6. I miss the 3 min battle timers.  2 was a little short.  I haven’t tested the current battles, but it seems like they are still a gank fest

That said I think the most “fair” to both sides is when the battles were closer to 5 mins.  That way both sides could get a little help, but it had to be immediate.

Players need to accept the fact that you will....Get ganked, lose ships and be in unfair battles.

It might help if also the clan gets some doubloons every time another friendly clan extract the woods.

However my main concerns with that mission are:

I have to grind 50.000-100.000 doubloons the first time I want a wood combination. Do you know how hard is to farm those quaantities? More options please!

The great amount of doubloons required. 25.000 for sabicu and caguairan!

Dont understand how those prices are going to encourage to take risks in pvp and rvr.

I thought the intent was for the clan that owns the port to receive some of those dubs.  is this not the case?

Either way the doubloon prices are far too high.

I been to plenty a port battles.  Screened a  good number of them, but funny I don't remember you being at them?   If you can remember right CSA actually owned most of the US ports at one time, VCO didn't own crap until ya'll went pirates and numbers where down.   Most of those battles while yes VCO helped I really don't remember you being in any of them.

In fact didn't you take a very long time off from playing yourself?  So how was you in all those battles?

    Wrong.

    So much text.

You started the mud slinging with your snide comments.  Don’t back out when you don’t like the change in conversation.

You coveniently seem to show up to battles that don’t involve fighting VCO and are noticeably absent when the battles do involve us.  Odd.  CSA is basically 2 guys now after your entire clan bailed on you and either quit or went pirate.  You yourself stopped playing months ago and only pop on the forum to add your folksy anecdotes about pirates years ago or talk about things you don’t actually participate in.  Blah blah still in US to help them out.  You don’t do port battles, grinds or PVP.  Just another paper leader like Drax.  We left the US to escape useless people and it seems the nation is in even worse shape now.  Good work.

As for WO   We’ve has plenty of content not fighting them and have no desire to take part in triple flipping them to help the US get it’s territory back.  As you saw at Navasse, most of them don’t even play anymore.  Content used to come to use multiple times a week and we’re fine with that

none of this really matters anymore since the OP has made a decision.  I would however warn the OP to stay away from the US and/or any nation Texas claims to be helping at the time.

When they quit in a month come pirates.  Black don’t crack baby

But the problem is they don't fight each other.  You do know you can avoid the drama and still fight after all?

We’ve fought WO for the better part of 2 years on multiple servers and nations.  You never did seem to show to those battles when we were pirate, Russian or US.  Curious that....

Up until this most recent disaster patch pirates had content regularly by being attacked constantly GB and the US.  You never showed up for those fights either....curious.  We even occasionally got attacked by Spain.  We’ve had so much content that the absence of not fighting WO hasn’t diminished our activity.

I do however feel like if you’re going to criticize others for doing to the US what you did in BLACK for a couple of years you should at least show up to PBS and help your nation.  Or just be the forum warrior we know you to be.

A pirate posing as a spanish privateer, he will not be able to enter spanish ports for a while and his reputation will be set to -50 until it hits 0, then he can slowly regain favor if he wants to rejoin Spain. Best way to do that would be jumping into battles with spanish against enemies of spain and assisting them, missions for spanish admiralty will also raise his standing in the event he goes outlaw.

    syke, I wish.

I feel for you, I have no bright ideas.

"How to make a system that motivates people to fight on top of a system that is built around discouraging people from risking anything?"

    You know what I want...

“Tell me what you what, what you really really want...”

    Heres a bright idea.

Keep damage model the same, add more than 1 live oak port, increase the number of cag/sab ports and make the costs cheaper to make alternative (but not quite as good) ship builds.  Then you decrease the amount of port battles that 1st rates can get into turning RVR into a more level playing ground that isn’t 1st rate spams.  One would also have to adjust hostility missions so they are a little easier attack and less grindy to set.

I can’t for the life of me figure out why RVR is made less accessible via fancy wood ports and line ships are easier to lose and harder to get.  The sum of all 3 variables does not add up to a more fun experience overall.

RVR was most active during the fine woods days when we’d have multiple 25 man battles + screening usually everyday.  Sometimes 5-6 over a weekend.  Ships were easy to lose and easy to make.  More folks were involved in the process and the server pop was far more healthy.  Ports mattered because of the regional bonuses.  We’ve since done a complete 180 from this mindset and RVR has been far more less active.

I thought expensive big ships was working exactly as intended?

If working as intended means a dead RVR system with no incentives and using 1st rates to gank AI ships in capital zones...then yes.

I miss the days when we have multiple full first rate battles and folks didnt have to worry about replacing them.  Just go have fun.  But for some reason that wasn’t immersive enough

Now 1st rates will be hard to get, easy to lose and the PB BR system still heavily favors bringing the biggest ship you can.  What a well thought out system...

RvR is dead because everyone has alts everywhere no need to conquer.Only reason to RvR is because "I can"

RVR is dead because the time commitment isn’t worth the payout.  Has been for a while now.  No one wants to grind bots and it’s too easy to get jumped in missions now.

During the fine woods heyday one nation owned both live oak ports for a couple of months....yet the server still managed to have multiple 25 man port battles daily.

Resource exclusivity has never and will never encourage RVR.  People either use alts or go F off to a less time intensive game.

If some pirates that I'm chasing start an outlaw battle somewhere west of MT then who do you think that benefits? Is it good for the pirates who always have players sitting at their capital and can sail to the battle in minutes, or is it better for my fellow swedes who would have to sail from a port farther away and are likely too busy to sail out immediately? Outlaw battles can let pirates dictate where the battle starts which is already enough to give them the victory over smaller nations since we aren't able to react as fast

You do remember that anyone could join pirate battles right?  If you're afraid of pirates tagging each other and hiding in battle......well tag them first or join that battle.  Seems simple enough to me.

Seems like letting pirates be pirates would be a good thing.  We should have an advantage over nationals in smaller battles and we should be trying to dictate where to fight and on our terms.
