  1. No problem. A Reb is worth at least 3 Blue Bellies 👍.
  2. Well should you need any advice 😎 😉 Best of luck 👍
  3. Thank you. Will do my best. My lack of knowledge in Barracks when I first started a campaign is now starting to hurt 🤕. If I knew then what I now know 😐. But I just jumped in ! I’m sure I will have to start again soon. But just seeing how far I can get. But next campaign I will hopefully do much better with the lessons now learned. Plus those still learning. Cheers 👍
  4. Hi, Brigadier General (middle level). Union 29784 CSA 21441 Losses. Union 14892 CSA 10675 Cav 2826 Cav 300 Cav 1523 Cav 89 Guns 89 Guns 44 Guns 44 Guns 7 My army is small. But it appears to more than hold it’s own against the invaders. Having beaten them in a small encounter at Everettsville. Could have been costly but I decided to use my Corps and attack the enemies right flank. I was pleased to have only suffered 2417 casualties in securing victory. For Stones. I decided not to contest the opening goals set out. I kept my Corps back in the trees. Trying to avoid a fight. My army is small and as usual not losing over 50% casualties is constantly on my mind. Trying to conserve them to attack the Pikes. I thought I had done well to avoid any serious confrontation. But my Corps were still being reduced in size. To my surprise I was informed we would be given Christmas off ! The bonus being would go back to barracks. I took my time in camp and decided to have my 2nd and 3rd Corps attack the Nashville pikes. All the troops that had suffered were placed in my 1st Corps. Aprox 1500 troops. They would look after my right flank. But kept well back. 2nd Corps would attack the nearest East pike. 3rd Corps would tackle the West. 2nd Corps we’re placed in position ready for the attack but I then waited for 3rd Corps to get in position. I was confident I could take the East but unsure about the West. 3rd Corps left flank was only protected by cavalry and 2 units of skirmishers. Their job to hold at all cost ! The attack’s started. I closed on East pike. Fired a few volleys and charged. A few brigades routed but the rest forced the way in. At the same time 3rd Corps assaulted the West (hoping my skirmishers would protect their left flank). I was going to fire a few volleys then charge as doing at the East. But to my surprise the Union troops routed ! My Troops flooded in and took the position. Now waiting for the Union counter attack. But it did not come. They had decided to counter attack the East pike which 2nd Corps had taken with the bayonet. Some routed but others were returning. My skirmishers were holding their own and protecting 3rd Corps left flank. I started to move some brigades down to relive the pressure on 2nd Corps. Time was running out. My casualties did not seem too bad. Where was the Union strength ! My rag tale 1st Corps never saw a Union soldier. I’m sure they were there. But did not see them. The time was up. I held both pikes. But what about my casualties. I finished the battle. Up came the sign VICTORY. I had managed not to lose over 50%. In fact the Union troops had suffered badly when trying to retake East pike. Onwards and upwards 🤞
  5. Strange 🙃 Hope this is better 🤞
  6. Would love to be able to video and post. Unfortunatly I don’t have the set up. Must admit enjoy seeing yours. Very interesting 👍 Cheers
  7. I would remove one of the photos showing the victory but don’t know how ! Oh well 🙃
  8. Feeling very smug at the moment. Having inflicted another defeat on the USA. My army is small. But it appears to more than hold it’s own against the invaders. The 2nd Corps were placed in position ready for the attack but I them waited for 3rd Corps to get in position. I was confident I could take the East but unsure about the West. 3rd Corps flank was only protected by a Brigade of cavalry and 2 brigades of skirmishes. Their job to hold at all cost ! The attack’s started. I closed on East pike. Fired a few volleys and charged. A few brigades routed but the rest forced the way in. At the same time 3rd Corps assaulted the West (hoping my skirmishes would protect their left flank). I was going to fire a few volleys then charge as doing at the East. 9. Hi, Thank you. Great help and advice too 👍 Cheers
  10. Hi, As some of you may know my “army” is a tad small ! Approximately hovering round the 30,O00 mark. (This is following Fredericksburg) My question is. Does the number of replacements I receive have a bearing on my army strength. IE is the number of replacements only around the 7000 men due to the small size of my army. Would there be more replacements if army was larger. Or is the amount of replacements a fixed figure. Roughly. Appricate any answers on this. Thanks all.
  11. VICTORY ! Despite my lack of troops. I have managed the Victory despite such a small force. The hardest victory condition to meet was not to lose more than 50%. The battle may have been won on the field. But the victory was due to my better understanding of the Barrack’s. I spent a long time there and thinking through my tactics. Feels real good ! A few cans tonight. Ok it’s Friday would do that anyway ! Thanks for all the help and support. Onwards !
  12. Appreciate all the replies. It appears I’m not the only one concerned with games on laptops. All I know is Ultimate General runs superb on iMac. As it comes from Steam. I had hoped Naval Action would appear on Apple too. I will consider adding Windows partion to my iMac. Best wishes all.
  13. Hi, Thanks guys. I do have a laptop (Windows). But thought would look better on the larger screen of an iMac 🖥 Will check my laptop. See if suitable. Regards to you all 👍
  14. Impressive 👍 Will be me one day 🤞 I will get there. I think I’ll wear the AL down !
  15. Hi, Any chance this will be available on Apple please ? Thank you
  16. Hi, Many thanks for the advice. Appreciated. I’m using the middle level. I’m learning very quickly now just how important the time in Barracks is. Only wish I had picked that up sooner 🙃. I am not necessarily expecting to win the campaign on my first attempt. I started it to see how far (or not) I could get. I’m loving it though. UG has to be the best computer 🖥 game I’ve played. Cheers 👍
  17. Hi, ”Got it worked out” 🤔 Not sure would go that far 😕 Will get back to you on that. Lets just say I know now more than I did 🤞 I think ! 😐 Cheers
  18. Hi, Just to add. I’m a great believer in ‘learning from mistakes’ !
  19. Hi, Thanks for that. Since 2nd Bull Run. I find I can easily spend 1 and a 1/2 hours in Barrack’s. Trying to get it just right. Even down to making a few minor adjustments. Still learning though. But I’m learning the hard way. It is a very important part of UG. Cheers PS. Good luck in your latest attempt 👍
  20. Back to refight Fredericksburg ! Now I understand the tooltip. I will make a note with a minute to go of every phase. So I can keep an account of my total casualties. I know anyone who has read this thread will think what a small Army considering how far into the campaign. There is a good reason for this. I am new to UG but not war gaming. I decided to see how far I could progress ‘on my own’. Learning as I go ! I like to think I’m ok on the battlefield. However, only when playing 2nd Bull Run did I start to understand and realise the importance when in the Barrack’s. Basically I learned the hard way. In the end scraping a draw ! Perhaps it would be easier to start afresh now. But. Although it will be tight. I still believe I can edge a Victory at Fredericksburg even with my small force. Only outnumbered by just over 2-1 after all. I do know I’m able to meet the terrain victory conditions. Just need to minimise the number of casualties I take. But still inflicting heavy casualties. Simples 😕. That will hopefully enable me to progress. So onwards and upwards 🤞
  21. Hi, Thanks for that. So the tooltip doesn’t seem to help in multiple phase games 🤔. So would seem difficult to know how total casualties are going. A total casualty/troops left tooltip would seem better when it plays a part in so many battles. I understand what your saying though. Thanks for your time.
