Only if every single port has the paid-for defence timer.

To put that in perspective, that's 2.4 - 7.5 mil daily to avoid getting flipped. And on top of that, in the current state, 7 out of the 11 nations operate at a loss, 2 just about break even, and 2 make a decent profit.

And even then, let's look at the creme de a creme at the present, Sweden, making 39 mil per week. Their cost if they want to avoid getting nightflipped? 37 mil. That's right folks, if you're at the absolute top of the server making a massive profit, you'd might just barely break even.

Enjoy the PvE grinding folks :D

No one says you have to own that many ports, however if  you do own lots then you pick the most important ones and pay for a timer in your prime time.

I think there are several places across the map where you can get good fights ... Yet swedes, danes, pirates and russians all come to Jamaica every day only attacking Brits, even joining up to fight againts Brits because all they want is fair fights ...

Every Nation capital in this game is always being camped by some person or another.

  3. Perhaps forged papers should only offer the chance of moving to a smaller nation than the current one. Or give the smaller nations an exp leveling boost. Either way something could be done to discourage everyone flocking  to the team of the month or year as is the case with Swedes

  4. The more tows you allow, the more you enable the big clans or nations to dominate the entire world. The strongest nation could then tow all, over the world and fight in port battles from one end to another everyone  else might as well not turn up.

The harder travel is the harder it is to dominate the entire map. They made the same mistake in EVE, had a massive universe to play in but made it so easy to travel that huge areas were controlled by a few powerful blocs.

I would be happy to see no Tow at all but I can understand allowing one. Anymore than one and travel becomes too easy in my opinion. Why have a huge game world if you can cross it in seconds?

  5. I have to say one of the best ever battles I ever had in NA was when we had that perk that kept the battle open. I think its exciting when you dont know the outcome of a battle because you dont know who can arrive. At the moment the timer closes most battles are a forgone conclusion, just a matter of time before the kill or being killed there is very little variable.

The open battle i had sung one way then the other as each side pilled more ships in, it was insane one minute we were winning a short while later we were running a short time after that we got reinforced and they were trying to run. In short it was very fun and very exciting.

I also  know the cons of this system with people hiding in ports and battles ect, then jumping out and joining  but I still feel this can be fixed by simply not allowing anyone who is leaving a battle or a port to join an already existing battle. rather than only being able to enter a battle that started while they are at sea.

Usually the sitting in safe zones happens after I've sailed accross the entire map and found nothing outside. I've been doing circuits of the entire map these days looking for pvp. Last night I sailed from la Mona all the way down the island chain to the far southeast corner of the map. Then I sailed all the way to dariena. Didn't see a single soul outside the safe zones. Don't tell me how to hunt, I've probably been at it longer than most on these forums.

I have tried a few nations out and every single capital safe zone is often camped by people like yourself waiting for some poor noob to make a mistake, to sail out a bit too far,  or to attack an AI fleet so you can pile in and kill the hapless victim. It borders on pathetic. and the fact you ignore other people doing the same thing in favour of noob hunting is almost laughable.

Looking for PVP?  here is a tip, if you want pvp join one of nations with a green zone, sit in the green zone until someone like yourself comes along noob hunting and attack them.

You wont do it though because there is a good chance you cant win the fight and people like you just have to be on the winning side.

  7. Trying to hit a post a few feet wide with cannon from 50 yards would be hard enough on dry land let alone from a moving ship. Even then it would have to hit dead centre otherwise it would glance off the round surface..

Perhaps a hit on a mast should only have a percentage chance of  damaging it and the non damaging ones deemed to glance of the sides.

  8. You need the safe zones to give new players half a chance. Most people who complain about a lack of pvp are really complaining about lack of a  fresh suppply of noobs to slaughter without any risk to themselves.  The game was almost fished clean a short while ago.

A lot of skilled players also flock to the most skilled clans rather than trying to fight against each other, they would rather join together to fight less skilled players because they can post pictures on the forums and expand their already over inflated egos with pictures of one sided fights

Its a game that gives you certain parameters what you do with your time is entirely your own choice just get on with it

Right now the balance seems good between helping new players get started without idiots greifing them into quiting the game.

  9. I am enjoying my return to the game very much but I have noticed there seems to be a proliferation of Wasa and L Hermonies in the game.

Both these ships are offered as rewards from mission marks, why not allow the player to choose the wood type as is the case at the moment, but make the ship  reward a random 5th rate or in the case of the Wasa a random 4th rate. You could make the higher end ships of the class to be rare and the lower ones more common. This would mean more variety of good ships in the open world rather than so many of just one or two types.

That's my suggestion  for this great game thank you.

It's your lucky day. The game is very friendly to casual players right now. Come on back.

As for not being able to get in port battles, perhaps it is time for a nation change. Or check in again with your current nation. Port battles I see reported on both servers are often not full.

Thank you I have returned made a fresh start with one of the new nations. Game is much friendlier to lower levels now.

  11. I left because I felt every rule change was skewed more and more against the casual player. The odds were being stacked in favour of people that simply wanted to cull new players around capitals. Port battles by the very nature of allowing only 25 ships in became very elitist, port battle could of been an open  battle lasting many hours with anyone able to enter but restricting numbers means of course only the 25 best ships can take part. In short it lost a lot of the fun out of it.

  12. 2 servers, one for cry babies who want the devs to constantly spoon feed them everything they want, and one for the rest who can deal with whatever comes their way. One for those who have no imagination no innovation and must have access to every resource all the time and must have a totally balanced equal playing field to play on otherwise they throw their toys out the pram and cry for their mum or  the Devs to come and do something, and one  for those that can accept the ups and downs the good times and the bad times a nation can go through in a constantly evolving world.

    Fletch67,

Did you read Ink's statement ? if yes, did you understand it ? I'm doubtful...

In case the above is going to be the next upgrade to be tested, you should then understand what means a server "with its own prime timer" associated to playerbase time zone.

And the people who work night shift jobs or others that live not in Europe or USA? its a stupid idea as if the population is not low enough as it is.

  14. Problem is a lot of people dont want risky pvp they would rather  gank noobs near capitals, There is global chat channel you could always arrange a fight but that would mean a chance of fighting people that really know what they are doing. Another option you have is to go to a freeport like La Navasse there are no forts near freeports and always tons of players so go have alook im sure your find a fight.

The problem is easy to solve.  two servers, one to nightflipers, (the like take undefended ports) and another to normal people

The only problem being the world is round and it also rotates, so while it's dark on one side it's going to be light on the other side. So who exactly are the night flippers.

Perhaps they should bring out an ofline version of the game for people like you so when you turn your PC off and come home from work the next day everything is just how you left.

Again.. I think you misunderstand the concept of early acces.. You don't pay to PLAY the game.. You pay to TEST the game. While it is true that there CURRENTLY are no rules that states that port battles should be clocked in european timezones it doesn't exclude the possibility for it. And I don't really care if the US players play on the european server or not - what I care for is creating a sustainable game that is enjoyable for all - and if that means locking certain timers I'm all for it. And what you consider "complaining" or "whining" I call feedback on a broken RvR mechanic that quite frankly should've been anticipated beforehand and above all - fixed. And I really don't believe you play in any clan on the eastern alliance - this problem has forced a lot of players either entirely out of the game or into a hibernation that really is hard to break - either you're an insensitive prick (which I can't believe), a liar, or you're just a loner that happens to have chosen one alliance block but really haven't experienced the frustrations from valued friends and clanmembers that has outright quitted the game.

Enjoyable for all? or enjoyable for those who play the same time as you? I have nothing to prove to you but I might say hello  in game just so you can see who I sail with. No need to be nasty I am neither a liar or a prick, well at least 90 % of the time I would like to think so. Think about your words, you want an enjoyable game for all, but you wish to exclude anyone from outside  your play time? you say its broken, I think things may need a tweak but its not broken. People leave because they get bored or other games come out they play for a while then they come back. You cant be sure why people quit neither can I there is no proof its anything to do with port battles, I would in fact blame it on there is simply not enough to do outside of port battles.
