This is starting to look like a cool idea but it looks work intensive, In-terms of balancing and implementation. but if we do the whole raiding thing pirates need a way though difficult to capture of be within striking distance id say 30min good winds of atleast 90% of ports, now this may require having taken prior objectives but need not be forgoten

Time for some maths the basic cutter has a base mast hp of the following Bot 350 mid 250 top 100 for a total of 700hp with mastercraft mods you can raise that to 1400 and if I understand mechanics properly the sail repair is 40% with golden toolbox we can get that up to 50% so that a effective potential hp of 2100 hp on a base mod that should have 700hp Thats a lot of hp for a little cutter masts But theirs a good chance my numbers are off I would really like to know
  3. +1 While I don't like your Idea bang I think it is a valid,and very good one, and it would make pirates alot harder to play. I agree with you that if pirates get crafting taken away from them we need a way to get rate ships to be competitive in higher end late game pvp The only thing that I find hard is implementing the SoL drops and that balancing aspect around it the selling point for me to agree to this is that pirate raids would not have to adhere to conquest timers Very good idea if you ever have anymore plz pm me with a link to the post because I would love to read that and future* one as well
  4. If that happens, and only if pirates only gaining xp through PvP. I will be the first to say id get fleets of pirates and PvP other pirates to get more xp Think of it tons of battles out side of Mort town protection , We will be well coordinated and some of the scariest people you would ever see. I my self would help coordinate 10-15 1v1 duels happening all the time and once someone gets to good at 1v1 well get him doing 2v1 . before long you will have pirate players that you will truly fear because the hours of PvP experience under there belts will be so much higher then any nats. Hell if it happned I would go out of my way to create a ELO system for 1v1 duels . If you wanna hurt the players who make the choice to play pirates I will go out of my way to make the pirate Nation an even bigger threat, Through community and teamwork Edit: duels will be to the death
  5. Ok if i understand correctly what was happening As I see it here are a few Facts please correct me if I'm wrong on them, 1. Port battle related actions were occurring near point "A" 2. 2 5th Rates attack a solo or under escorted SoL with the intention of disrupting in someway or another his contribution to the port battle. 3. Upon entering the battle the SoL's escorts if any left the battle soon after / when ever they could/ did ( this is something I consider a mute point relating to the tribunal ) 4. By what ever means the 5th rates were able to keep the SoL locked in battle for the full timer there by effecting his influence to the port battle/larger picture. And here is what I think That this sort of thing is aloud to happen only under the circumstances that there is a "Bigger Picture/ Bigger battle happening around" the 2 players in 5th rates were able to keep a first rate from being able to participate in a bigger battle. This is ok If and Only If there was not this larger battle going on I would say there is a issue in how the SoL Was kept in battle I.e, if the 2 5th rates were attacking a lone SoL and doing nothing more then keeping him in battle for a 90 min just because they can with no bigger picture type stuff going on This is not OK Now that that out of the way my opinion what happened The pirates did the Dick thing(no offence to them ) by keeping that SoL in battle for so long, But it was the right thing because it kept him out of the other fights The SoL was so un escorted that 2 5th rates could pull him into a battle and Im not fully clear or not his escorts left, this was a miss play. Like other games Ive played in the past there are 2 important things that need to be going on getting your gun in the fight , and keeping it there. about 72 guns were able to keep over 100 guns out of the bigger fight. Keeping Big fleets as Big fleets is important Keeping people all grouped so that if you get pulled into a fight everyone gets pulled in This is a misplay on the over all fleet picture where we have unescorted SoL's In no way do I want to pick sides on this because tomorrow or the next day the shoe maybe on the other foot.

Im not the biggest fan of having the crafting being restricted. and while letting the pirates being able to tweak ships is not a bad idea i think that it would be something that is hard to implement. And with the way the current crafting system is to my understanding is that players from nations don't have to go very far to get there trading done and from what i cant tell Im not sure if there are the numbers of players for pirates to hunt. Heck ive taken trader ships out for hours and haven't had to worry about being attacked because we have this massive map and no more then 300 people at a time to play on it . I think that given time and as the game grows pirates will be seen doing more pirating when theirs more people to pirate. As for the diplomacy aspect of pirates once that gets introduced pirates will be able to be attacked by everyone which will make them a target where as national players will have 2-3 other national nations who they will likely be able to and not be able to attack. Which also makes the pirates ports targets as they are open to attack from any nation. But to me one of the most exciting reasons i joined pirates is that I can hop in any fight, lets say one of the under maned nations is attacked at the last second and are caught unawares they look for help to defend there port and make a stand outside before there port battle but there undermanned and would benefit from having help, Thats where the pirates come in with coordination and some diplomacy next thing you know the pirates have become mercenaries and helped even the odds for for a nation that would have otherwise been unable to defend. Over all I dont wanna see the pirates limited too much and i think admin had a good idea towards some of the earlier posts in this thread if the pirates are getting to big there is Every Other Nation who can pitch in and help reduce the threat.

    I spent most of that time traveling the shore line, not in open seas i just was wondering if i was in the wrong part of the world, unlucky, or that this is a real issue.

    Im not sure if its just me but ive been sailing around 8+ days at sea and I haven't been seeing NPC's Towards this later part of the day Just wanted to see if anyone else has been having This issue or if it is something server side.
  13. The people I know arnt using the XP farming off oneanother were just grouping up and taking on big AI fleets

Thats because the pirates have a influx of new players and were trying to catch up so there are so big PVE grinding fleets going outside mort all the time were trying to get our new players in bigger ships, Alot of us are at a disadvantage for deep-water port battles because we dont have everything needed to crew larger ships to be competitive , And im appart of that haveing everyone welcome to this Big pve group Im one of those people going out of there way to help out new players give people new ships getting people in to bigger ships, helping teach people how to play the game . Im trying to do my part to try and make the pirates competitive .( beacuse right now there are only 3-7 active players for my timezones who can even fully crew 1st and 2ed rates ) Please dont hurt our new and growing nation!!! We are gaining a lot of members from Twitch streamers which is really nice Maybe some of the other nations should try and stream some game play find people who are interested in promoting and expanding the game.
