hey you think you can update this post to include all the new ships in ow .. just a thought
I've got a spare minute, so I just thought I'd write this list of updates for the OP, in hopes of helping Brigand when he gets around to editing it:
-The Cutter, Lynx, two Brigs, and the Snow are in-game, so their names don't need to be faded out anymore.
-Also added to the game are the Pickle, Mercury, La Belle Poule, La Renommee, and St. Paul/Pavel.
-A ship not in the OP, the Frigate (aka Cherubim), has been added to the game.
-Bucentaure, a xebec, USS Niagara, and and a "32-36 gun frigate" have been shown to be in development.

-
I'm all for that idea. Good audio is always a plus.
-
I was going to ask about that, but then I noticed that Brigand hasn't posted anything since the end of May, according to his profile. I'm guessing he's taking some time off.
-
I would say that they were large thirds however that is going by the later Royal Navy rate system.
I just knew someone was going to bring up the "2nd Rate or 3rd Rate?" discussion again.
Anyway, I wasn't trying to bring that debate up. You asked about Barfleur, and what I was trying to say was, although I haven't heard anything about Barfleur or Christian VII being in development, it does look like we're getting Bucentaure and another similar ship.
-
I've been gone a long time, was anything ever decided on HMS Barfleur?
Not that I've heard. You should check the Work in Progress thread, though, if you haven't already: We're getting St. Paul, a Russian 84-gunner, and Bucentaure. And those are just the 2nd Rates...
-
That last one reminds me so much of Empire: Total War's 2nd Rate. Great find, Wind.
-
It would hardly be historical, though, if we only had three 1st Rates to choose from in the final game. Variety is a good thing, though I agree that adding more 1st Rates probably shouldn't be the devs' priority right now.
-
Eh, maybe the French will build themselves a Temeraire, now that they've seen what they can do when building a frigate.
-
Even then, you'd probably need a few of those things to lift a ship's hull that big, wouldn't you?
-
Maturin... well considered thinking...
LOL
-
They might build the hull and use crane to put it in the water.
That'd have to be one hell of a crane...
-
Since this is a sistership of "Le Commerce de Mairseille" you can see a buildvlog of a 1/48 model:
http://gerard.delacroix.pagesperso-orange.fr/118/jpb/jpb1.htm
Down on the bottom of the page is a blue arrow which directs you to the next page- blue on bluue background.. that was genious.
That's... that's incredible. Wow.

On a related note, I got Napoleon: Total War during the Steam Summer Sale, and noticed that the 80-gun SoL in that game looked really odd and out-of-place, but somehow familiar. I eventually found this topic (I'd probably seen it before, a while ago) and figured out that the reason N:TW's 80-gunner looks so odd is that her hull looks like it was based on this ship, which is from 1665, as opposed to a historically-accurate 80-gunner from the Napoleonic Wars. LOL

Good to hear, good to hear. Sounds like Apple made a rash decision, and now cooler heads have prevailed.
-
People who have used ad hominem attacks shouldn't tell the targets of those attacks to calm down. I think you'd be kind of embarrassed to do so.
Nah, just slightly annoyed with myself for wasting my time trying to get you to see reason, is all.

Maturin, seriously, calm the eff down. You're way too worked up about this shit.

Dude, your post is still in this thread. You said "this social justice bullcrap."
There is nothing there to specify that you are talking about kneejerk internet crazies, and I see no reason to give you the benefit of the doubt at a time like this. If that's what you meant, then the correction is noted. And your apology for being careless with your terms would be accepted, if offered.
If you can't say what you mean and mean what you say, I suggest steering clear of political discussion in the wake of mass murder.
Strawman. Apple isn't a SJW. And there is zero indication that Apple was motivated by protests against flags in videogames. And if so, it is obvious that almost no one takes such protests (if we can find any evidence that they exist) seriously.
So you understand why I find your rush to judgment and strawman construction troubling.
"And there is zero indication that Apple was motivated by protests against flags in videogames." What else would've motivated Apple to make this decision other than the fear that the portrayal of Confederate flags would offend people, and that such feelings would result in negative publicity being directed at themselves? And the only people crazy enough to be so offended, that I know of, are the SJWs. Hence my comment about "social justice bullcrap", which, given the context that I just explained, seems obvious to me that it refers to said SJWs and not necessarily to social justice as a whole. I make no apology for what I said, as I feel that what I said requires no such apology, as I have already tried to explain. And just for the record, I really don't give a shit about what you find "troubling." If anything, I find you high-horse morally-superior attitude troubling, because it makes you even harder to put up with than you already are.
-
But let's talk about you instead.
You're choosing the days following a hate crime and terrorist attack to complain about people who speak out against racism and terrorism. That's pretty troubling, and certainly puts you in some interesting company.
Especially since you are really just voicing some bullshit complaint about a tiny (mostly imaginary) minority on the internet, that has pretty much nothing to do with the actual social and political movements at work here. I'll remind you that you just labeled social justice "bullcrap." As a whole. So I'll ask: are you a white supremacist? Or do you just not understand the words you are using?
You are using the classical tactic to discredit social movements everywhere: conjuring up an imaginary laughably extreme position that is supposedly indicative of the movement as a whole. And again, you're doing this in the wake of a national tragedy that proves how badly these "idiots" are needed. You're being a provocateur and so far as I'm concerned, a bigger idiot than anyone at Apple.
"You're choosing the days following a hate crime and terrorist attack to complain about people who speak out against racism and terrorism." That's not why I spoke out against them, in case you hadn't noticed. "I'll remind you that you just labeled social justice "bullcrap." As a whole." I was referring to SJW/Tumblr-type social justice, which is bullcrap. A quick glance at the context of what I said might make this abundantly clear: it certainly seemed that way to me. I've nothing against down-to-earth social justice movements, but down-to-earth social justice movements would've, I think, had the intelligence to not be offended at the portrayal of the Confederate flag in a video game. "are you a white supremacist?" Hahahaha. If I was to go so far into the world of overreactively grabbing imagined implications from the posts of others, I might ask you if you're a troll and a retard. But I won't. Part of the reason why I won't is because it looks like I can think more clearly and be more polite than you. Oh, and "provocateur"? I do believe that's you.
-
@Maturin: Sigh. "Not like a bunch of people were just murdered for their skin color or anything..." And that has anything to do with the existence of the Confederate flag in an historically-accurate setting in a video game, does it? No, it doesn't. This was A.) social justice warriors getting offended on behalf of other people purely because that's what they do for a living, and B.) Apple being afraid that said SJWs were going to affect their sales unless they did something to appease them. So, anybody who has games on the AppStore with the Confederate flag in them has to either bend over willingly or be screwed over, all because of these SJW idiots.

Give Apple this message, from all the sane people who don't have their heads full of social justice bullcrap:
-
what we need is some beautiful exotic ships like the xebec corasair,,lot of these ships in the game now are the most boreing, and dont inspire people to play,,your customers will be looking for beautiful ships and cool looking ones,,this game seem bent hell on gearing up on nothing but ugly looking battelships for war,
Cry me a river. "Ugly battleships"? Dude, that is not an ugly battleship. That is a rather attractive-looking frigate, though it may be hard to tell from the pictures in the OP. And there already is a xebec in development.

Sovereign of the Seas? At Trafalgar? Yeah, lol. You realize she would've had to have been 168 years old (not to mention still in existence) for that to happen, right?
I think you mean Royal Sovereign: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Royal_Sovereign_(1786)

Thanks, dude.
She's a nice-looking ship. Is she an historical design, or she just a generic frigate? Either way, I'm impressed. It looks like we're going to have some really nice frigates in this game.
-
So that frigate's in the game again? Can someone post a new screenshot of it from another angle (instead of just that stern picture)?

We have two ships like that that are coming soon-ishtm, St. Paul and Bucentaure. I wouldn't mind seeing a 3-decker 2nd Rate like one of the British ones or Christian VII, though.
If you ask me, I'd say that with St. Paul, Bucentaure, and the Ocean-class ship in development, the next area that needs work is the 4th-3rd Rate range. A 4th Rate or two would be good introductory SoLs, and we've only a singe 74, despite them being so widely used in real life.
