Does the "sloped armour" on ships with round hulls like Renommeé and Belle Poule actually increase effective armor thickness depending on the impact angle? Also do shots only bounce when armour is too thick or also when impact angle is too high, no matter the thickness?

Yes "sloped armor" does make it easier to bounce rounds. Shots bounce when the armor is to thick or when the angle is too high. Thicker the armor easier it is to bounce the rounds. If you have thin armor you gonna have to position your self at a really high angle to the other ship to get his rounds to bounce. Of course your enemies guns and there penetration is also going to come into effect. Bouncing rounds is an art form in itself.

Bouncing rounds is entirely possible. Sadly this has gotten a little bit dangerous sicne November as a single bow pen can now cost you 20-30 crew meaning steering slightly angled towards another ship be it AI or a player can either work extremely well or cost you half your crew...

Hey @Captain Lust

Agree with all the comments the guys made here.

I'm No way recommending you do this, but I have hours of fun looking at Questions like the OP

The Belle Poule is largely equivalent to the Generic Frigate. Pull up the wiki pages on both. Unfortunately, BP is not updated but you can still get the idea. So, reading the profile we see both same crew and guns but the Frigate guns are heavier. The BP shape makes shots Ricochet off the hull.

Download https://code.visualstudio.com/

It’s totally free and better than using a note pad.

Next go to your Windows File Explore > under your C: drive find [Program Files (x86)]

Go down to the STEAM folder > steamapps > common > Naval Action

Then have a look around the[ Database] files… DON’T change anything obviously but you can see the different make ups and compare numbers and like with like… If you like that sort of thing…

Let me know when you find the Ricochet BP and Frigate Probability numbers
