Mention in Dispatches - Captain "Falcon"

As new RN recruit Tarquin Horace Smith ventured from Port Royal for the first time to Saint Nick and Port Le Paix, he was met by the gracious gentleman known as Captain "Falcon".

Tarquin was on his pleasure yacht, used for transporting messages and personnel around the theatre, and dint have anything resembling a man of war useable. Falcon generously took 50,000 from his own pocket to purchase Tarquin a state of the art Renomee hence to be called "The Fighting Falcon", his first Frigate rated command!

Swiftly upgunned, it was still direly undermanned when the two set out for action. After engaging in some admiralty business, and soon putting some pirate privateers to flight, they emerged near Port De Paix to find a RN small force in trouble having been engaged by Pirates. Captain Blood, sailing a Constitution class super frigate, escorted by Scallion and a few others were in trouble having been set upon by BIA Pirates commanded by a 3rd SOL! Hugely outgunned, though the RN were Falcon and Tarquin threw themselves into the action, even though the frigate only commanded 160 men of its 240 complement, and both ships were damaged from their previous engagement.

Sailing into the heart of the battle, lead nobly by Captain Blood who put his ship on the line numerous times to bravely engage the 3rd Rate, Falcon followed him through the fire-storm doing significant damage in his RN Frigate. Soon the pirate fleet was shattered by smaller but more numerous and determined RN forces. A Cerberus fled for the hills, leaving the 3rd rate and its close escort a Trincomalee class frigate to fight. Like a pack of hounds attacking a bear, the RN closed heroically. Captain Blood finally lost the ability to move the mountains of water his crew had been pumping and slowly went down, and in my first fleet engagement, Tarquin found himself alone against the two huge pirate ships!

Swiftly turned to matchsticks the "Fighting Falcon" fought on while the RN fleet regrouped and chased down the remaining two pirates. Once they were in range a rapidly sinking Tarquin beat a "tactical retreat" by putting on all sail and running, while the remnants of the RN force lead on by Scallion and Falcon, surrounded and finished off the wounded giant. As the 3rd rate went down, the escort used its chance to slip away.

Let this be a lesson to the pirate hoards out there, the RN wont back down from a fight, and Ships of the Line are for his Majesties forces and we wont let pirate scum steal them from him!

Thanks again to Falcon for his generosity of both funds and time, for allowing me to take part in my first large scale PVP battle. What a great game!

A bow to you sirs, and thanks aplenty!

I would like to take this opportunity though to let it be known that it was Captain Smith's suggestion that we should lend our broadsides to the ongoing engagement, and to congratulate his officers and crew on their stellar efforts in keeping their wooden walls afloat.

Fair winds sirs, and prizes for all.
