A different type of campaign.

After having played some of the Naval Academy missions that pit a lone ship against enemy fleets, I think it would be really satisfying to have a campaign option that focuses on a single ship or captain.  It would be great to make a custom ship, with your success in battle providing income for repairs, refits, or reassignment (promotion/demotion to different hull sizes?)  The challenge of building a ship that can survive and perform in different combat scenarios seems very inviting to me.

Personally, I like the idea of starting out with a pre-war dreadnought and seeing how long I can keep it combat effective as the timeline progresses and new technologies are offered.

In the campaign you will do exactly that but youre also have another entire fleet of ships to manage aswell not just one vessel ;)

Hi,

Just a wild guess, but wouldn't it be cool to have the option of playing a class based career?

Participating in the fictional war as a PT, DD,  or CL squadron kommodore?

The devs have indicated this is a fleet management game, not a ship simulator.
Another thing to keep in mind, is the timeframe covered is one of the most turbulent in naval history. The USS Texas BB-35 is a great example, an actual Dreadnought built pre-WWI, served through WWII, but did not engage in a single ship to ship action. In WWII was mainly used as convoy escort, shore bombardment, and as USN testbed, with at least half a dozen “firsts”, from AA guns to catapult on turret 2, to Radar.  Resulting in one of the most refitted ships in history.
That said, if she had engaged any super Dreadnought (post Washington treaty BB) chances were slim to none she would emerge in anything better than a draw.

Are you saying they can't do more than one campaign type?
