  1. I love the first 2 idea's. Third one would need to be tested though I think. To make sure it doesn't make that part of the log redundant. Though if it doesn't, I'm all for it. I'm just afraid that if this game does really kick off down the road in a year or 2, and we get thousands upon thousands of players in it, that everyone will updated ports 24/7, which would kill the economy in terms of trading if you have hands on updates with ease. It would also kill part of the buying/selling mini game of finding good ports and taking advantage of it. You can't really do that when every other player also has it with ease. Right now with such a small population it would be a great tool, but if the game gets a few thousand players, it could end up killing several parts of the game.
  2. I had an Idea for a Captains Log. A sort of In-game Journal. It'd be more Immersive, informational, and can also count towards Rp style situations for players who are into that. Captains Log would do several things. Each having it's own Tab you could flip too. Ships - Ports - Owned Assets - Notes Ships - This would be a log that would update as you meet ships in the Open World. Ultimately blank at first. As you meet ships in battles, this log updates at the end of battle screen depending on the battle. With information on the ships you encounter. Normal fighting at long/medium ranges: Rate, Number of Cannons. Close Range:The max crew amount Capturing it: Hold and cargo space amount, Hull, and sail HP, etc. This would allow for capturing a ship to give you all of its possible information available. Another reason to capture a ship over sinking it. Ports - Ports tab would be a log of ports you've visited, giving you a list of information about it. Ships, it's selling, what it consumes and produces, and the prices. There would also be a little number saying when the last time you visited so you know how old the data is. The data is updated only if you visit the port again, or find a "Port Information Log" from a trader by capturing it, which will update your journal with up to date information if you choose to use it (would destroy the log if you choose to update your log with the info). Owned Assets - A simple list of all of your assets and where they are categorized by ports. Notes - A simple Notebook style of blank pages, allowing you to write your own information and additional notes on things you wish to keep track of.
  3. I'm back and looking once again for members. We have a website now
  4. Ok, so this music wasn't actually made by me. It's more of a collection of music that fits this game so well, that when I play it, I forget I'm running it in the background. It's also based on a Crusader Kings II music mod funny enough by Dorimi. These songs not only in my opinion, make the battles feel that much more rustic and epic, but also really helps make the time go by faster as you're sailing in the open world. I personally can't play this game without running these songs anymore in the background :3 so if you're into music hopefully this'll be just as immersive and awesome as it is for me. 80 beautiful songs are in the collection. Simply download, unpack, and set them up in a playlist in the music player of your choice and let it sweep you away in the game world. Samples of the songs: Across the Ocean After the Fall Merchant Prince No Sacrifice No Victory Chevaliers A Historic Love Guardians Hymn of the Sea Lady Athena's Music Pack
  5. Oh, that is quite cool I didn't see that. Anyway to impliment a function in their logic so they know to stop shooting a ship you're trying to capture? it's happened 3 times now where the enemy ship was sunk and mine badly damaged by friendly AI shooting at it. And this ^ This would make it feel as though you are the Admiral of the fleet.
  6. Is this realistic or a shooter? Game needs to decide which it is. It already takes quite a long time to travel anywhere, people should be used to it. That being said, it's not easy breaking a mast in the first place so it shouldn't happen often, but when it does.. I don't see why a mechanic that implements realistic situations can't be introduced in the OW. How many people are going to rage quit because they have to travel to a shore to repair a mast? I doubt any.
  7. It is a mechanic that is both extremely easy to abuse, destroys any realism this game has, and ruins the fun entirely. Yes the initial creation is awesome, that you are setup exactly as you were in the circle, however, after the battle is created any player spawning in should spawn in at 3000m or so from the direction he was going. Right now, I can initiate a battle in a lynx against a faster opponent, and my Victories, etc. in my group can then spawn literally right in next to the opponent that's ahead of me still by a long ways. It's not only a griefing tool but a way to teleport larger ships directly into the fighting, resulting in the other player having no chance to run.
  8. Its extermely easy to tell... NPC's have no title. Players do.
  9. I've had several times now, where I've attacked a ship to capture it, only to have 4-5 AI spawn in and start hammering the ship while I'm capturing it, doing damage not only to me, but destroying the enemy ship in the process and losing all my hard work in capturing it. There should be commands you can set for the AI so they know not to destroy a certain ship, or at least have the knowledge that if you're capturing a ship to stop shooting at it.
  10. My suggestion is when a sail, for instance, the front sail of a ship is broken off, using a repair does not repair that whole beam. Instead, if you want to repair a mast out at sea, you have to sail to shallow waters, and click a button to send your crew to the shore, after 30-60 seconds, they'll return with a "mast" and you can use it to replace the broken mast, and then repair your sails on that mast.
  11. Sanguine Angel Armada is a Guild on the pirate faction for a very specific reason. The Guild will be a well trained group of individuals who abide by the code of Sanguine Angel. It will be a "soft core" RP guild. You do not need to RP in anyway shape or form, or be into RPing to join. It is a "soft core" RP, since their is a "story" behind the leaders Character, and the Guild itself. The rank titles will also be given depending on your in-game characters gender, not your real life one. Website: http://sanguineangelarmada.enjin.com/mainpage There will be a Steam Group at some point. Sanguine Angel Armada Story Arch Duchess Niki H. Melody's father had died in a battle between privateers of an unknown faction, and his British fleet. Having been trained since she was young in maritime and fleet tactics, and showing exceptional skill and knowledge in the a fore mentioned, she was entrusted in his will to his personal fleet. She was extremely successful. Given the title by enemies and friends alike. "The Angel of the Sea's" Due to the nature of her fighting, supportive, and protective of her fleet, and allies. After several years of privateering for the Royal Navy and the Crown, Arch Duchess Niki H. Melody was given a special assignment to sail her fleet to the English held towns in the Caribbean. Her Mission. To de-stabilize, and hinder the American and French Merchant ships. However, on a fateful night she was given a message from the mainland. After a year of successful hits on the merchants, the British intelligence had received word that a large cargo of Gold from South America would be traveling through, and she was to meet up with the Royal British Navy under a false flag to take and capture the shipment of Gold. The British Crown however, had been getting false information from an American spy in her crew for half a year. The letters by the spy explained treasonous information, and Niki H. Melody assisting in attacking and sinking several British merchants that had mysteriously vanished the year of her arrival to the Caribbean. Along with other falsified information, the British Crown was tricked into believing that she was profiteering off of their information, and assisting the enemy. The message of the Shipment of Gold was fake. Upon reaching the destination, Arch Duchess Niki H. Melody was attacked without warning by a Royal British fleet. Though she escaped, her entire fleet was destroyed. The name of Melody in Great Britain was tarnished, and her title of Arch Duchess, and her land stripped from her family. Her letters of inquiries into the situation, and demands to speak to an English diplomat, all went un answered. The only response; she would be captured and hanged as a traitor to the crown if she attempted to return. Niki H. Melody created a new fleet. The Sanguine Angel Armada. The name chosen specifically due to the situation which caused her to create the fleet in the first place. The "Angel of the Sea's" bloodied by the very nation she loved dearest. Most now know her as the Sanguine Angel. Though those closest to her, and knowing her story, call her by her real name. Niki H. Melody. About Sanguine Angel Armada Sanguine Angel Armada, though technically pirates, will have rules of engagements. At any time, may be friendly to specific nations or guilds with a complete "cease fire" towards them, unless provoked. Guilds which show exceptional assistance, or long term friendship towards Sanguine Angel's Armada may be exempt from "Nation wide hostilities", should the Angel's Armada be forced to target the entire nation. These friendly nations or guilds may even see Sanguine Angel Armada members come to their rescue, or may hire them to assist in battles on the sea's. Be warned however, due to Niki H. Melody's past, any under handed, or hostile actions un provoked towards her Armada will cause your guild, or perhaps, even that nation to be set as enemies. Additional Information There will be a ranking system within the Guild. The ranks are as follows, and may be subject to change, additions, and or removals. Owner: Empress/Emperor Co-Leader: Grand Duke/Duchess Secondary-Co Leader: Baron/ Baroness Master Fleet Commander: Viscount / Viscountess Fleet Leaders: Fleet Admiral Secondary Fleet Leaders: Commander/ Commandress Scouts: Inquisitor Diplomat: Constable Everyone else: Captain Requirements for Joining the Armada Must obey and respect the "Rules of Engagement" Understands there is a hierarchy, and is willing to follow/respect the ranks Is willing to learn and practice fleet combat Understands that Sanguine Angel Armada is not a "Full Fledged" pirate Guild, and all nations are -not- always open to attack. Fill out the application on the Sanguine Armada Website If you do not wish to partake in fleet training, and would rather play solo or casually group, you may still join Sanguine Angel Armada, however you will not be able to partake in official fleet movements Important information for Non-Sangiune members or Guilds Since Sanguine Angel Armada is not a full fledged 100% pirate guild, we will of course respect agreements for cease-fires between Guilds, and even entire Nations at points. If at anytime a Sanguine Angel Armada member does not respect one of these agreements, please contact the Sanguine Angel, the Diplomat, or one of the Leaders marked in blue in the ranks above, and they will be quickly dealt with. If you wish to set up an agreement, a pact, hire, or discuss anything with the Sanguine Angel Armada, please contact Sanguine Angel, or a diplomat in-game. Or Message them on the forums here. My In-game Name is Sanguine Angel. However, feel free to message me on here if you wish.
  12. Because this is supposed to be open world #1. Your idea completely destroys that. #2 Open World isn't supposed to be "fair" or "balanced", but that's what makes it fun. IF the devs do it right, you'll still have more than enough ways to get out of dodge if you get near an enemy ship. You have that telescope for a reason chief. If you see a large ship you can't take on ahead of you through your telescope and it's a possible threat, go around it, he can't catch up to you very easily, if at all depending on the circumstances. You're treating this game like its supposed to be an Arena match or where every ship should be "balanced" ultimately making the game a bore fest since no ship will be ultimately different in terms of power, to be "balanced". So no.. your idea would destroy the game, at least to the extent of what it's supposed to be. If you don't like open world where things aren't balanced and you need to use your wit and mind to overcome threats then this game isn't or shouldn't be for you.
