  1. A couple of minutes in to the second day of Antitiem I check on a fresh skirmisher unit that I just sent of in to battle and I see that their leader is KIA but the unit is showing no kills or deaths. They are close to the enemy but not yet engaged. The only thing I can figure is that he was such a jerk to his troops that they killed him before the battle. Thoughts?
  2. 1. Is there any value in keeping your divisions together in a battle or do you just cherry pick your brigades to fight across your entire corp? 2. I had a division leader die in a battle. Is this modeled some way like percentage of casualties in a division or purely a random event? 3. Do corp leaders give benefits to brigades within their range but not in their corp? Thanks for your help.
  3. What I have seen is that the AI does not do a great job sticking to the roads if you simply click out in front of you and the time difference can be significant if there are woods beside the road.
  4. Thanks for the tips. I am in my first real campaign as the confeds in BG mode and am afraid I have done something wrong. I have won every battle up to Malvern Hill but now cannot come to close to fielding the maximum number of brigades available for the Malvern Hill battle. I have 38 pretty good brigades across two corp but the battle setup screen seems to give me the ability to play 4 corps each with 20 brigades. Am I screwed? I have no idea how I could have gotten the budget for an army over twice the size that I have built.
  5. OK, I have developed a pet peeve in this game. I maneuver my brigades in to tactically superior positions at critical points with 80+ cover and they will not stay there. My skirmishers retreat when the enemy advances even though they can get in several shots before being put at any risk. My infantry will follow retreating enemy out in to the open and often in to an ambush where they get flanked by enemy on both sides of the retreating brigade. Also, I have noticed if you put two brigades side by side in an area of cover that has overlap between the brigades, they seem to take it upon themselves to move sideways with one or both of them leaving the heavy cover. I kind of understand this one but it sure is frustrating. When the BG tells my guys to hold, I really mean it! perhaps I need to hire smarter brigade leaders.
  6. I loved UGG and was very impressed how much effort was expended to improve the game engine after its successful release. There are lots of developers out there (Battlefront hint hint) that take a great game engine and just clone the game over and over with a different battle or set of units. I figured you guys would go down this same path and I probably would have bought a game or two before tiring of the engine. Instead, you folks did something extraordinary and instead of the cheap way out, placed a real campaign layer on top of a great tactical engine. For this I am both pissed and thankful. Pissed as it has sucked an enormous amount of my time. Thankful that for the $/entertainment value that is unrivaled. Now that I have buttered you up. I look forward to the 3.0 release in 2018/19 when you have moved from a static to a real dynamic campaign where you move troops across the country at strategic level similar to what Graviteam does with their Operation *** WWII sims:} Until then, I plan to spend many hours playing with this new toy.
  7. So I am still confused as to how Shattered units are managed. It is almost like they are abducted by UFOs.
  8. So shattered is the same as captured for the purposes of campaign mechanics. Are these troops the ones listed as missing in the battle results screen? I guess the logic here is that they run home to mama never to be seen again.
  9. I seem to be losing my cav units this way. They jump in to a trap, get hammered, rout, and run off the screen never to be seen again. I would think they should be available for the next fight (perhaps after a demotion).
  10. Played first two games of a campaign as confederates with no issues at all.
  11. The key to artillery in my opinion is to simply set it on shell and manually move to canister in an emergency and move them in to position just inside of shell range. I always position them where there is the most amount of coverage available.
  12. I appreciate the thought that went in to the current campaigns, but please consider a complete replacement that takes in to full consideration results of the last battle and new troops available at the time segment.
  13. The other problem is the game (or maybe me) cannot handle full on battles between full armies comprising hundreds of thousands of men. It works great for 10-30K sized engagements, but it would never work in a game where you move full armies around a map and occasionally bumped in to other full armies.
  14. It has been a long time since my VT civil wars classes with Professor Robertson, but I do believe Lee would have won the battle and thus war if he had listened to Longstreet. Lee could have effectively trapped the Army of the Potomac if he had established a strong defensive line down Oak and Seminary Ridges and over to Round Top. He could have both exhausted the Northern forces and range down to DC with such a line. Additionally it is too bad Jackson could not have made the party. Lee would have listened to him.
  15. Please add setup zones that are based on the previous battles final disposition.
