  1. Sea Trials / Testing Room

Just like we have the ability to jump into any of the exams/tutorials at any time, what if there was a similar "room" that we could jump with the ship we have selected and just do some sea trials!

We could test our speed, reload, manual sailing, repairs, boarding, anything pretty much while being able to jump out at any given time.

  2. The server just had a big ouf moment, trying to log back in again and again wont make it any better guys, take some time off Im sure the admins will sort this out soon !

  3. Players with sextant (or everyone whatever works) should be able to set way-points on the map, calculate distance and be able to navigate better using the map. Point and click with the protractor is good and all that, but having more map tools available would be a nice addition imo. Auto pilot in the OW in the form of following said way-points could also be a  thing.

Been in RU since 2018, when Britain and Sweden were zerging around and RU had 10 ports. My clan, second largest in RU was destroyed by Brits and stopped existing. Yet no one back then whined their way around in forums.

Help your noobs then! The state of the map is fully controlled by players. There is nothing, what devs can do about it. What should they do? Punish players, who were good at the game? And there is nothing people can do, that played the game better as well.

The only people, who can fix the zerg, are the other nations: Analyze, adapt, overcome.

Yea there is that but people get burnt out when they fight an enemy that has not only almost unlimited resources (manpower included) but also other nations, vassals or allies call them whatever, helping them. And I really cant blame them. Take WTF for example, they got bashed by BF, decided to make a stand, won lots of battles, lost everything in the process and quit the game en mass simply because they saw that at this moment there is next to nothing they could do RvR wise. With the new patch i believe the situation will improve but we can only speculate.

  5. What is up with entire clans migrating from nation to nation only to capture a bunch of ports and then leave for an other nation, leaving the nations they originally joined to die?
Is it disagreements between clans that push some to leave for an other nation or something else?

Maybe log books should only reveal pvp battles, and not battles between a player against AI. And Loki is one of most idiotic things ever implemented in this game. Also, only affect new player who don't know how to deal with it. Any experience player have little to fear from Loki.

Lol when you fight an elite npc you wish for a loki to join so that you kill it more easily XD

Look no further than log books, loki runes and all the seal clubbers that pray on new players for driving people out the game.  Its almost impossible for many people starting out to enjoy the game without getting destroyed by other people who they have very little chance against.

The thing you have to understand tho is that all of us were noobs at some point, all of us have been ganged when doing missions or when farming just outside capital waters or when we were simply sailing around. All of us have lost "good ships" (atleast we thought that the blue oak fir surprise with no pb's we just captured was a good ship lol) yet we accepted it, started thinking of ways to have a better chance in a gang, maybe tag an NPC and run away for 5 mins or maybe throw the circle of the npc on land. Little things like that. We grinded, got better and now we are the gankers. So what ? I think that what is driving away new players are over priced shitty ships with no port bonuses that some geniuses put on sale in ports like KPR. Noobs have no choice but to buy these and when they loose them, they go bankrupt... Do some trading someone might say, yea sure 300k for an indiaman that will get sunk to the first snow that sneezes on it... At least back in the day we could do a cargo run for 250k reals + 1000 doubs, a noob can now do at best 70-80k per run... Is that not discouraging the noobs from ever playing again ?

Why should you be given an easy way to board a much larger ship? Small ships already get away with enough in NA.

I didnt say that we should be given an easy way to board someone,  the whole point of this thread was to find a middle ground that works for both the attacker and the defender. Some people say remove it, some people say buff it, the answer is somewhere in between.

I might be good at boarding and you might be good at maneuvering its only logical that we both want to play to our strengths.

DD is not even hard to counter. So much complaining about it when the counter to it is literally just 1 decent rake in most cases.

Have you tried boarding a ship that has almost 2 times your crew? To grape him enough you need to do several rakes, on each one risking getting a rake in return and/or loosing a mast or two from your opponent that has a much superior broadside than yours. So from my experience you are stuck with him at 60% sails sailing as close hauled as possible and you being much faster staying on his tail giving him mediocre at best stern rakes, killing nowhere near enough crew to be able to board him because of his perk. And you just wish that you could just board him and get it over with, even if he has 100 more crew than you but instead what you get is 1 hour of him repairing and quoting "death by 1000 cuts" memes. It is the most fun when you have finally managed to kill enough crew to try to board him and as you initiate your tackle he uses rum and gets his crew back.

So no, I dont think DD is countered by one decent stern rake most of the times if you are dealing with ships of different rates. On a Christian vs Christian yes, on a Trincomalee vs Bellona, no...

I believe that if someone cant get you off his stern no matter what he does he is as good as dead. Might as well speed up the process.

    DD Saves ships

It is based on brave defence by Redoutable against much bigger crew of HMS Victory. Despite heavy losses Redoutable could not be boarded during the whole battle of Trafalgar.

DD is good for gameplay as it brings you clarity and has the counter (kill more crew and board). It was changed multiple times and even was removed but it always comes back because gameplay is better with it.

I dont know how much sense it makes if the perk is based on the Redoutable's, well determined defenders, since the Victory and other British ships had more crew than her, but if thats the best you have come up with so far to try and implement that factor into the game then thats what we have to work with. I agree that it makes gameplay better in most situations but like with all things, people find ways of exploiting this mechanic as Im sure they will find ways of exploiting any mechanic you might add/tweak. With that being said I think there is room to improve the balance of the DD perk without reducing the quality of gameplay. I trust that if you put your minds into it you can figure it out @admin.

Hypothetical scenario. You are in bellona. Two trincomalee tag you. You sail close hauled and reverse to deny your stern, but one trinc gets a good rake and a crew shock. The other rushes and boards your side. You are dead quickly as continued takes make the boarding one sided. Compare to now, you have a much better chance to recover from that one miss timed reverse. Is this good change or will it only promote more the ganking and bring back the days of rage boarding?

Why are you in a line ship alone with no escorts?

  12. I believe that this perk would be a lot more balanced if the way it is applied is changed a bit. If we take a look to it historically, there is a very good example on how it could be better. Lets take a look on Henry Avery's story of capturing the Ganj-i-Sawai.

The Ganj-i-Sawai was a fearsome opponent, mounting 40 to 60 guns and a musket-armed guard of four to five hundred as well as six hundred other passengers. But the opening volley evened the odds, as one of the Indian ship's cannons exploded, killing some of its gunners and causing great confusion and demoralization among the crew, while Every's broadside shot his enemy's mainmast by the board. The larger Fancy drew alongside, and a number of her 113-man crew clambered aboard, overpowering the crew, passengers and slaves of the Ganj-i-Sawai. "

Here we can see that an event such as a cannon exploding or other evens like this could demoralize and cause enough confusion for 100 men to be able to capture a much larger ship with a lot more crew. In game terms, maybe a stern rake causing a crew shock could disable determined defender and maybe  even give a morale penalty in case of boarding.

  13. https://prnt.sc/p6una0    already made an F11 report with another screenshot showing how much crew they killed when i was boarding the victory, they just sat there and fired on me because apparently they wanted. In the end both I and the victory exploded.
https://prnt.sc/p6upwg here you see on the nation chat Red Partizan saying not to mess with them because they have a hot head and above you can see me complaining about them shooting at me
