30 % of men do not see red.
True story.
As one of these colorblind individuals, we can see red. This is a misconception.
What we can't see is different hues of red. Green/Brown/Orange/Purple can look very similar. For example when we do our pre-battle plans I take a copy of the map into MS paint and throw a few things on there, I can't distinguish between several of the colors on the palate and routinely tell people "join at the red X" when it's in fact brown. I also can't tell the difference between the colors on new traffic lights and have to go off position while driving around. My wife makes fun of me because I'm almost always ordering the wrong color shirts online and I own far more pink shirts than I probably should.
Red with a yellowish outline would be very visible, far more visible than white on a light blue background for example, and a welcome change.

Rough couple of days for poor liam.

Because this is a multi player game and players being able to farm AI fleets for doubloons in capital areas (2 capital areas) is bullshit.

Pirates shouldn't even have a capital, they should be following the same rules the three nations that shouldn't be in game. Though what they could do is make that zone a neutral that all nations can use but have the Pirates, Poland, Prussia, Russians all start there.
You know this is going to kill what little casual players you have left...... Taking away safe zones is not going to encourage folks to play and come out and PvE. Folks like to have zones they can grind up without having to look over there backs every two seconds for gank squads. I'm going to predict this is going to kill what numbers we have left. You would be better off killing the PvE server and making the Golf of Mexican a PvE zones. that would get more players on one server insetaed of them being spread out all over the place. We keep talking about how to keep the new players and casuals and than you do this crap which will just run them off.
You can't force folks to play a play style they don't want to play. By taking away the three largest nations safe zones it's just going to make more players leave and not log in. Oh look now we will have even more empty ports folks will own and no one will fight over........
you do realize that they still have safe zones by their capitals right? This is just removing the farming frenzy that is Belize / New Orleans / Vera Cruz.
If players are going to quit because they lost their 2nd safe zone, well then it's no big loss.

Wish we could just cut some of these areas out of the overall map and consolidate folks into more populated areas. Be better for the game overall.

Great idea, I heard WO is literally waiting to meet your US player base! Hat Islands are wide open, waiting for the Swedish invasion.
Good lucky getting Kingy to grind a battle these days

Anolytic I think has the right idea in protecting new players from vets in SOL and decked out frigates, but I think this is the wrong way to do it. His idea works great for the first 2 weeks, but what about new players after the 2 weeks. What about new players currently?
Better protections overall for new players really need to be in place before launch. Dynamic safe zones where new players are 100% totally safe, but are still flexible enough to allow new players to venture out and explore a bit....taste a little PVP, but not get completely thrown to the wolves. Player progression quest lines or something similar would also be a good idea. In essence we need starting areas.
Regardless whether or not players are in bigger ships with fancy books, the PVPers will still beat up on the noobs starting day 1 to start collecting their marks and getting a leg up on PVP rewards. New player protections built into the game need to be ready to go to handle the problem right out of the gate.

I really really really don’t want to grind ship slots again. Max rank comes with time and I’m not particularly worried about that. But yea f those ship slots.

I believe that admin's previous statements on this type of case has indicated that for griefing to be determined there has to be some kind of repetition or prolonged action. To tag into battle multiple times, or keep the target tagged without fighting for a significant time. Because it is possible to tag someone by mistake, or to tag with the intent to fight, but determine that the player is too good to allow the attacker any opening to approach his stern. And many other cases where the border between what is acceptable and what is griefing is blurry.
So for how long did this action go on? According to the chat log it seems to only have taken about 6 minutes.
What I do not understand though:
2 frigates against a 1st rate? Why not even try to go for the stern and fight the fight? If you loose half your broadside or a mast first broadside, yeah, you may have to disengage, but two frigates should at least try to press their advantage?
There should be some sort of cost to being too careful.
While this might very well be intended griefing, I am not sure that the tribunal can afford to set precedence by judging it as such, because there could definitely occur similar situations where griefing was not intended. If however this happens over multiple battles in a row, or for upwards of twenty minutes with no attempt at closing the distance, then it is easier to judge griefing, even if some griefing cases will slip through the net.
And I do not believe in preventing this by mechanics really, as some suggest. Because to completely prohibit griefing would affect ordinary types of gameplay in significant ways.
Stop posting this everywhere as if it was some general prescriptive statement by admin that applied here. Admin's quote is about people entering battle, taking a slot, and not fighting for their side, leaving their allies short handed. None of which applies here or most other places you posted this. Admin has made much more recent and more relevant statements on tagging and and kiting in open world battles that would have some actual relevance to reference here.
I feel like “the person who enters the battle should fight in it” is a pretty good quote from Admin that applies to 99% of these kiting and trolling posts.
Join a battle. Fight in that battle. No more drama. Don’t want to fight? Don’t join. What a dynamic solution.
Sorry to annoy you best buddy.

This open question of tagging/screening/kiting really needs an official answer. Kinda tired of seeing these posts.

Actually we were watching from our tower on the top Mount Doom in Mordor...
As soon as we realized the battle was not progressing how we wanted it, we used our direct line to Game Labs to tell them to pull the plug on the server.
True Story.
P.S.-- Nobody better complain because we'll tell them to vaporize your ships and mods too.....
How is the tower of barad-dur this time of year?
