  1. and took NA out for another spin, after watching Damn the Defiant. no probs, other than getting sunk...., twice. gonna take a while to become familiar with things, me thinx
  2. yeah, in the case of NA, considering the screen flickered a few seconds, long enuff to get off a full broadside and partial reload before the screen went TOTally grey. after having to restart, cuz everything froze except the cursor and ctrl-alt-del couldn't be use to close NA, the restart got as far as the welcome screen and immediately went blue, resulting in having to run safe mode where I had green artifact lines scattered all over. a google search for something similar didn't get much more than a gfx card problem. this has never happened before with ANY game running on a slight;y o/c'd card. if you're covered in cookie crumbs, it's safe to assume you've been dipping in the cookie jar
  3. new card working as intended. not sure how it'll do in NA. gonna wait till things improve. don't wanna risk the same thing happening again, after shelling out 690 $s
  4. woohoo, new card works, but I'm more than a bit leery of running NA, at least for the time being, after shelling out 690 $s for this thing. I'm not willing to run the risk of frying this one, as it comes with a factory overclock. I WILL, however keep an eye on Naval Action for when it is better optimized. yankyaeger, nope, no English here
  5. more than just over heated, me thinx. uninstalling thru device manager gets me a normal restart/desktop, but, in reinstalling the driver and restarting I get the same no text blue screen at the welcome screen. we'll see what happens when I get the r9 890 in a day or 2. being in safe mode networking, I can't access the card's control panel, unless there's some secret sauce don't know, nor can I get to it on the normal desktop.. I really wanna play this, after seeing a 30min battle on utube by Jingles
  6. well, seeing as this: ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z; FX 8350; Asus 7870; Samsung SyncMaster 2243SWX; Corsair AX860i psu; 8GB Kingston HyperX DDR3; Corsair M4 SSD 128GB, WD 1TB; x18 DVR212D; 7SP1 likely wouldn't be under spec, I can play a majority of games on highest settings. I just hoe the new card doesn't have the same prob, cua I REALLY hate having to reinstall windows. it's probable the 7870 died to some degree
  7. I'm thinking Derek Jacobi, he of Gladiator where he played a senator, Gracchus, assuming he's still around
  8. got off one broadside in PvE and while reloading for a second when the screen flickered and went grey. on eventually restarting my rig the welcome screen immediately turned blue. for now, at last until I get a new gfx card in a coupla day, I have to run in safe mode. I can see there's a lotta potential to Naval Action, 40 ship battles is just crazy and I wanna get in one . I had an idea of my own for PvE, if it's not already been thought of. individual missions similar to Master and Commander movie. however, until NA is more suitably optimized, being able to handle slightly overclocked gfx cards and not having to be run in compatibility mode, I'm gonna have to remain beached for the time being. I hope the 55 US, far more in canada, I shelled out wasn't a waste
  9. hopefully when I get the 390x in a few days things'll be normal again, but I'm not optimistic. can't even get last know good config. F8 just brings up the bios boot order list
  10. as a test I disabled everything in msconfig, restarted and same no text blue screen. looks like my 7870 got toasted. fortunately I'll have a r9 390x next week. not sure I'll be playing NA, at least not until it's been better optimized, which SHOULD be a priority over bug fixes. something wrong when a game has to be run in compatibility mode, and gfx settings not used/reduced, and whatever else issues there may be, and that's unfortunate too as this is a type of game I've wondered would ever come to be. the age of sail, a time we'll never see the likes of again
  11. when I can get to normal desktop after removing gfx card this: https://steamcommunity.com/linkfilter/?url=http://www.bilder-upload.eu/show.php?file=488b85-1459599520.jpgthi is similar to what it looks like, broken horizontal green lines all over
  12. specs are above, so high end. tried an older driver, catalyst 14.4 after uninstalling/deleting driver in device manager and got the same again. fan doesn't even spin up at any time
  13. that's just it, no error codes of any kind, no text at all
  14. didn't work. uninstalled card first and managed to get to desktop, then un/reinstalled crimson driver and got the same thing, windows welcome then immediately went blue no errors. wasn't alt tab but rather ctrl alt del.
  15. can't access gfx card control panel in safe mode, which for now is the only way I can get online. radeon 7870 is slightly overclocked. rig specs: ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z; FX 8350; Asus 7870; Samsung SyncMaster 2243SWX; Corsair AX860i psu; 8GB Kingston HyperX DDR3; Corsair M4 SSD 128GB, WD 1TB; x18 DVR212D; 7SP1
  16. and on entering battle screen flicker a coupla times then turned greyish. alt-tabbed out to look up forum and rig locked up completely. on restarting, windows load screen ran then turned blue with no error text, requiring to restart again in safe mode/networking. anyone familiar with this? ran client in 64, I think.. in going into safe mode there are narrow greenish vertical bars widely spread on screen. thx
