  1. so far all my battles in the last few patches have been unplayable due to no visibility. last battle was in most recent patch. mousing over the weather thingy it said morning and light overcast, but visuals were of heavy fog. very annoying.

Naval invasions however seem to work properly now.  thanks for fixing!

naval invasions are ridiculous now. 4 times in a row I failed an invasion while I had 9-10 times the needed tonnage.

Also, the actual needed tonnage is about 50% higher than the indicated tonnage in the naval invasion dialog

last naval invasion i tried i had 610,000 tonnage for 28,000 needed. it failed of course...

  3. Emergency alliance mechanism is broken.

As GB I've been at war with USA for a long time, racking up on the victory points, getting ready to make peace and get some juicy territories. AI does not want to sign peace yet. OK, I'll continue wrecking their fleets. Then France gets in a war with US and I get an emergency alliance with France. Unfortunately that ALSO means I'm now suddenly at war with Germany and Spain. Ok, annoying but I can handle it. Few turns later, SOMEBODY gets in a war with SOMEBOBY (seriously I have no idea, there were like 10 messages) and I get dragged into more emergency alliances, everybody is at war with half the world and allied with the other half.

But here is the problem: I am now suddenly ALLIED with the USA! So much of my time wasted for victory points that I now can never use. And so much more time wil have to be wasted fighting 5 wars that I never wanted to fight against navies that have no fleets left so are real hard to get points against.

  4. I'm still having frequent crashes in ship editor. Even when i have saved a design in the ship editor, if the game crashes before i have exited the editor those saved ships are gone. this means I lose designs and have to redo them, or i have to exit the editor after each2 saved design top ensure they are actually saved.

Also, task force still teleports to home port after battle even when there was 0 damage. (did not spot enemy). Strangest thing of all, the taskforce that was teleported home got in a 'straggle' encounter the very next turn...

In my latest campaign i have not have a single successful naval invasion. must have been like 5 that just all failed even if I kept enough tonnage in the area.

If nations don’t dissolve, then you’re potentially facing warring with the same nation for the full 50 years – war after war same old same old. IMO, dissolving nations is essential for changing the environment.

I have to disagree. There are many ways to prevent this, simplest is just to enforce a cool down after a peace treaty, like in basically every other wargame.

You need a task force with 100,000 tons total displacement in a sea region. Then go to the politics tab and ‘naval invasion’ should appear as an option. Click that, & choose a province. The game should then generate a mission for you.

That's how I did it previously, but this campaign in multiple wars the option remains greyed out, even though I have way more that 100k tons and superiority

You mean points in the battle stats of the top window? It is something very minor, not affecting anything. We can look to fix but it is low priority.

Sorry, forgot to add the screenshot. I mean the victory points awarded for the fight, although technically there never was a fight as the ships never met.

  8. This is an old one but very annoying.

Points are awarded for damage that pre-existed before the battle.

I get in a battle with a taskforce that was already damaged from previous fights. Ships never spotted each other, no shots were ever fired. Yet enemy gets points for pre-existing damage. Damage that my ships already had before joining battle.
This SHOULD NOT happen, as it is unfair and actually makes it possible for the enemy (or player) to get points twice for the same damage.

I just tried that and it doesn't work. When I click out of the game to my other screen, the game minimizes and stops all activity.

What I want is to do other stuff on my second screen while the game goes through it's 2+ minute turns.

For me this workaround actually does work. I alt-tabbed after hitting next turn and when i came back turn was complete

I want to make sure this is not a one off issue with my very old and slow computer.  Is anyone else running into frame rate issues in battle when your original division is selected?

    Steps to Replicate:
Enter a battle with at least 2 divisions (In my case, it was 4 BBs and 4 CLs in two divisions).  The ship that the camera is fixated on when the battle starts is the "default task force flagship".  When enemy is encountered and the shooting begins, select your "default task force flagship" division and order them to attack a target.  Observe frame rate drop.  Now select the other division, the one that the camera was not focused on when the battle loaded.  Observe that the frame rate has now increased.

I also reported this in game.

EDIT:  This is what I mean by old and slow computer so you have something to compare against.

    CPU: i7-4790k
    RAM:  32GB 1866MHz DDR3
    GPU: 980 ti stock speeds

    SSD install

    can confirm.

    ryzen 5800X

    32gb ram

    RTX 3070 8gb.

    game installed on nvme SSD

when frame rate drops the hardware is not even close to stressed

The problem of path oscillation is very old, now shown evidently with the UI and has minimal effect in the gameplay This is why there is no need for overexcitement. We already look to fix everything that you, the players report, but overexcitement and drama adds nothing to the result you, the players, seek. We will fix everything according to what is possible.
Regarding the rudder, we remove until it can be stable, not causing any bugs. That is all there is to it.

I'm sorry nick, but it is a big problem, as your playtesters have repeatedly been saying. The only reason it is now overly dramatic, is you have first been ignoring us, and no are belittling us.

  12. Yes, one of the many balance fixes that has been sorely needed since adding the additional major nations: Nations already at war, sometimes with multiple opponents, should try everything to avoid more enemies! Not continue badgering me with tension increases and money demands. Just so there is actually a way for that war to end, and also because fighting an opponent with hardly any fleet left and dispersed around the globe is not fun, and actually pretty hard to bring to a conclusion. And with everybody fighting everybody the game indeed slows to a crawl.

  13. Rereading my own post made me realize how angry I am atm, so I want to start by saying that I really do appreciate the hard work the devs have put in during what for most other people is the holiday season, and that in a country that is actively being invaded. Really I want to see this game succeed. I've been heavily invested in it (emotionally even) since back when it wasn't even on steam and all we had was academy missions and custom battles. But seeing mention of a release candidate fills me with dread, considering the actual state of the game.

It has taken 10 hotfixes to get the game to a state where testing is even possible, fixing the multiple literal game breaking bugs. This is not hyperbole, these bugs made it impossible playtest as the game would not load, or it would crash, or buttons would not work. The actual framework of the game was not working, and it is just barely working now after 10 hotfixes so we can finally start looking at stuff like the new features and balance etc.

Multiple features are still in their brand new state, and clearly not working correctly or not optimized or balanced well.  Part of the problem is the black box nature of these features where testing is impossible when the tester does not know how something is supposed to work. Another big part of the frustration and basic lack of enjoyment is how most of these new features are completely out of the players control, or even influence.

And then there are replies like this:

Manual rudder is going to be removed. We noticed that a large number of players misuse this function or overuse it, creating multiple problems in the movement of ships.

Drunken? What eventually is this new forum term? If someone can elaborate? There have been many improvements compared to the previous version of the game so such feedback cannot help us at all.

You have got to be kidding me. Have the devs themselves not played a single battle since 1.10? You must not have if you don't know what we mean by drunken helmsmen. I will not explain here but just assume you have read the explanation posted a few posts before mine and the excellent analysis by @Aurora just below.

Nearly every hotfix patchnotes since 1.10 dropped have mentioned 'improvements' to this issue yet we as playtesters see no improvement at all. Sometimes things actually got worse. This seriously make me doubt devs ever play an actual battle.

But threatening to remove the one feature that makes battles halfway playable is just so classic Game Labs and makes me so angry. Accusing players of abusing a feature of the game to actually be able to play it? Are you for real!?!?

I have to stop typing now. I've tried to keep this civil and constructive, but I just can't anymore...

  14. very often now buttons don't work, for example the auto resolve on submarine missions or the yes button on ship sale requests. returning to main menu and reloading may work, but sometimes the yes button to actually get to the main menu may also not work, and then i have to kill the game in taskmanager
