  1. This is exactly the point. I participated on 6 port raids on PVP2 (an SOB newbie if you will). NONE were opposed. Not one pirate or French port we raided North and East of Haiti was opposed in those raids. We spent hours relocating up to Caro Romano (sp) to see if we could get action in the Keys..... yeah, no. What the SOB leadership have been attempting to explain is the reality that there was no good action on PvP2. Discussions over the server population made the decision to move completely logical. Right now, PvP2's population at its absolute height matches PvP1's lowest possible ebb. I can attest to the mass of hours floating around and seeing squat. It was no fun and when the announcement came up that we were moving....well good riddance! Why would the SOB drop everything they had accomplished if it wasn't for a legitimate reason? I mean, come on, we had our Victories, cash, women, everything. We have had to start from scratch and that is anything but a "cowardly" action. Commodores in cutters is what it was and we are slowly getting our footing. And you know what, we are getting the action we have been searching for...in spades. Why would we put ourselves through such pain if we didn't feel that we had to to preserve the clan? People were walking off out of pure boredom..... but hey, haters gonna hate, I guess. -Ski
  2. As Warrior already knows, prior to the Parrot Bay sortie, a Pirate fleet of about 16 ships were camped outside Port Au Prince. This was a hefty force including six 3rd rates. The Brits only had something like 6 good ships to respond and there wasn't much of a battle....just a couple of skirmishes as the Pirates called it a day and headed back north. As Warrior mentions, the whole intent of the Parrot Bay attack was to get a good PvP battle with Pirates that were possibly still around after their show of force at PaP. The game is getting down to where we almost have to have a set-piece battle function like the battles in the mission section where you can literally schedule a huge battle between factions. Sad, but It is all about timing in the end and it seems like we are going back and forth without a decisive battle to get people their solid PvP action...... This isn't just a British issue. Ask the pirates how well they did yesterday in drawing an opposing force. -Ski
  3. Wow. I take it that you guys go out in your highly valued Mercuries searching far and wide for human opponents so you can simply play PvP..... But you know, I have been plying the seas quite a bit and I have yet to see you guys and your fleet of frigates. Where are you exactly? I see PvP pirates, but French....not so much. Fleeting is a logical exercise. It is a part of the game. Why do you think that there are AI fleets in the first place? Eye candy for the Open World? Seriously. If you aren't working your folks up the chain, then you are failing your clan. Pure and simple. If you don't, well, enjoy your lieutenant bars. -Ski
  4. No, you still have to sail to get to missions, establish outposts, search for capping/xp/traders, etc. You don't get trucked to a battlefield in a first person shooter, do you? -Ski
  5. Perhaps limit teleports to 4 a day or something like that. I see your point, but you have the make the world a compelling place to live. Right now, it really isn't. Talking with my clan mates (many are up to Commodore or past it) and they are wondering what else is there besides the fleet bashing or capping. PvP is the holy grail and we just don't have enough of it in the real world. Just my personal opinion..... -Ski
  6. Well, you can still create a game with more PvP and yet adjust the XP to keep the pacing stable. The issue is the downtime. Sitting there for 2 hours switching between the internet and the game to pass the time just doesn't sound right to me. -Ski
  7. My mates and I were talking last night about the long term health of Naval Action. We love the game but it seems that there needs to be some changes in how it flows. Most players can attest to the grinding required to climb in rank, build, trade, etc. Right now, we are seeing people leaving the game that have had enough of the work required to get that next coveted ship. The reality is that people wan PvP action and don't have the time or patience for the huge downtime between actions. While I don't want the game to be easy by any stretch, the long dead time can be a real passion killer for a lot of players. Traveling for what seems like eons to get a mission done or trading is one thing you really can't avoid; not unless you have a smaller map that becomes a superhighway. However, I think there can be changes made that would help take out some of the onerous tasks we find in the game. One change I think needs to be done is to do away with the 4 hour delay for teleporting from outpost to outpost. You should be able to teleport immediately to transfer ships or to complete actions at each of those ports. Let's say you need to sell a frigate at Concepcion to help pay for a Tric at Port Royal. Well, you transfer to Concepcion, sell the frigate and call it day. Not fun. The time has already been invested in sailing for hours to get to ports to establish outposts. It becomes a source of frustration not being able to move between them a timely manner in order to move about quicker. Oh, and please add a search function on the world map so we can find where the hell some of these places are! -Ski
  8. Silly question, but can you join more than one clan (of the same nationality of course)? -Ski
