  1. Every change that's been made to slow down port capture has seen increasing numbers of players leave.  I don't see how this will be any different.  This is going to slow down gameplay to the point where I'll probably just play now and then, and I've been averaging about 13 hrs a day logged in.  I'd suggest that a part of testing is for the devs to look at what happens to the player population after changes have been made.

Too bad, this has the potential to be a great game.

  2. excuse me for misreading your post, however, my point still stands, calling someone a pussy for running from a 4v1 fight and calling him out on global and then a few hours later saying "your not so strong if you're not outnumbering us wimp", I guess what I'm trying to say is, we didn't have to join that battle and we did, and because of that we had abuse thrown at us for being a weaker force.

and excuse me if I misinterpreted your words

Apparently in your world it's ok for you guys to heap abuse on us when we're outnumbered, but it's not ok when it happens to you.  I'd suggest that if you don't want to take it, stop dishing it out.

  3. I didn't mention anything about me complaining about losing any ports, that is irrelevant to the conversation.

Somehow I doubt that you'd be posting if you'd won that battle.  I'm sorry that you got hurt when I used Wacko's line back to him.  When you had us outnumbered 12 to 6, and heroically blasted me while I was disconnected, your fearless leader had to make the "Welcome to PVP our way" comment.  Seemed appropriate to return the favor.

We'll be more polite when we take all of the south Gulf ports back.

  4. We attacked and captured Biloxi this morning.  When I entered the port to reset the timer, I was unable to do so.  I restarted the game and made another attempt and am still unable to change the timer.

Is this the intent of the new rule, or is it a bug?

  5. Hate to break it yo you but FPS has nothing to do with what server you are playing on, but is based of your PC. If that was the first ever big battle that you participated in and your PC cant handle it try adjusting your graphic settings. Other than that your only other options are to upgrade your PC or participate only in small battles. As for the population on PVP1 it has fallen quite drastically from in the past few months form full server during euro prime time to 1100ish players (witch is still playable) and around 200-300 during US prime time, witch is a wasteland.

Well thanks for a totally ignorant response.  I'm running an AMD 7850K processor with 8 graphics cores and a Radeon R9 270 with 2G of memory.  My connection is such that I download 9G files in 14 minutes.  I play WoT and other games at the highest graphics settings with frame rates around 60-70.   Even on the US server, my frame rates run about 30, which is lower than I get playing any other online game.

  6. I really hope that PVP2 doesn't get merged into PVP1.  I've played in a Sat Trafalgar battle on that server, and my frame rate dropped to 6 and 7 FPS.  It's unplayable.

From reading the posts about how to solve problems like too many 1st rates in port battles, it would seem fairly clear that there are already too many players on PVP1.   I doubt that adding more is going to make things better.

  7. Regarding uncapturable ports, how would you expect to take Cartagena de Indias or St. Augustine if Spain actually showed up to play? Some ports by nature of geography and the forts historically built to protect the approaches make them impregnable to anything but soldiers on the ground.

Regarding the purpose of victory points and the war declaration system, http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/13596-such-is-a-lord-simple-politics-and-alliances-part-1-heavily-moderated/

This is a game, having uncappable ports is stupid.

  8. The post battle part of the OP is incoherent.  Victory points aren't mentioned as a way to win, so why have a system for awarding victory points?

Having ports that are unable to be captured just because a defender showed up is possibly the worst Idea I've ever seen proposed for any game.

Including land in port battles is a great idea and IMO should be implemented and tested before any other changes are made to the PB system.  Each change needs to be tested on it's own merits so that we can see what works and what doesn't.  Making all of these changes at once is a sure recipe for disaster.

  9. The thing that kills the game for me is the fact that i spent literally hundreds of hours last month collecting resources for when the NPC created resources finally went away completely, (something on the order of 280+ hours) This is some of the most boring, monotonous game play you can imagine trying to do. So why do it? the goal was to have  well over 10k of every resource so that way i wouldn't have to worry about the production shortfalls that are still going to come.Simply put, it was a short term loss over a long term gain. With the server merge happening Those of us who planned accordingly are in no small way F#<ked out of that time spent. Not only that but now there is absolutely no way to make up that volume of dwindling resources. I have amassed tens of thousands of resources in ports in preparation for the paradigm shift from NPC created resources to 100% player based ones

    BUT

I have a solution. The server has to know exactly what your total assets are every time you logt into the server ( obviously) so why not turn that data to a redeemable , one time use ( with unique ID) token that can be redeemed like a redeemable ship? this would  work for all assets currently held by the player on the different server. This both validates the time and effort people have made in the game and will help stop the people that are already heading for the door. Also this mechanic wouldn't have any problems with players who are moving to different factions on pvp1 such as myself who was USA on pvp2 but am now pirate on pvp1.

In addition to those issues being solved for, this same mechanic can be used in the future of the game and instead of having the map be stale and static, You could have seasons much like there was on POTBS. This overall mechanic can be used at the end of each season in preparation of the map being reset and going again. Yes your position is reset but you aren't left with the feeling that there is no progression for you individually, Which is starting to drive people away from this game and not toward it.

My plan would enable the devs to make changes and resets to the map as they need but also keeps the player base from feeling like, given the facts at the time that they didn't just blow a month of not leveling for nothing. especially in light of the fact that these same resources cannot ever be obtained in this manner again. There are enough aspects of the game that are making it an ever easier choice for them to leave, do the devs really want to add to the list?

Cheatos, your expectation of the future of production and the economy was totally wrong.  Why should you be rewarded for that?

  10. One more nail in the coffin for PVP1 sadly..

One would think that for proper whining, one would at least get the subject matter correct.

Have you ever heard the term "self fulfilling prophecy"?
