  1. I had the opposite idea in another forum.. to expand missions. Check it out because many players added very interesting ideas...

A small suggestions for the devs.

Why not to open the battles available for Missions? Honestly sometimes I have no time to play and I would simply like to get some experience in fighting (aiming especially and manual sailing in a battle). So why not to open the Mission battles limit? Maybe add one extra level up and down (so we will have five Missions total). Of course, if one selects a low level battle, the XP and gold should be heavily reduced. I am proposing this modification (1) so players will be able to refine their fighting skills (2) if you have not a lot of time you can be able to fight one battle which will not last long (3) maybe it will help the new players to get more comfortable with the battle mechanics.

    What do you think?

  2. Ahoy captains,

I asked this question many time on the three different chats in game and I never received an answer. So I will try here.

When in port, selected menu "equipment," on the up right corner of the UI there is a box, labelled "Upgrades." I noticed that I can see the upgrades I put there with any ship I am sailing. So my question is: if attacked and defeated, will I lose all the upgrades in this box? Or it is something like a safe where one can have easy access to many upgrades but cannot be plundered if defeated?

I looked all over the forums but i couldn't find an answer. I hope some expert player will help me.

    Thank you.

  3. I hope that missions are changed so they feel less grindey and more useful

Absolutely... more variety will automatically lead to different time for each battle... If I have a couple of hours I would gladly do a longer mission.

The idea of still being able to access lower-level missions is a good one for a couple of reasons, I think. One is that it leaves the mission option open as a way to rebuild funds after a significant loss or reroll. Two is that it still gives you an easily-accessed method of fighting smaller ships with your larger one, and while the gold and xp gain should of course be significantly lowered (perhaps the gold reward removed entirely) to reflect this, the actual experience of practicing fighting off small, nimble craft with a frigate (for example) is invaluable.

Thank you Francis, I did not think about the reroll. And also, I have some smaller ships which I love :) so it would be nice to be able to use them for some low level mission battle.

  5. I think the right word to describe my experience in OW navigation is "estimate." The compass is more then enough to estimate your position with a certain degree of error. And, I suppose, it is the same degree of error one would have using a sextant (which from my reading is more or less 30 nautical miles). If we consider that a nautical mile is 1,854 meters (around 6,000 feet) the approximation we have navigating our little closed OW is, in my opinion, realistic.

As I said in previous posts, I like to navigate around and explore new ports (hope soon the devs will add something on exploration and discoveries) and I noticed that slowly I am starting to recognize my surrounding... the two peaks in the Bahamas, indicating me the way to Crown Heaven; or the pointy peak  of La Desconoscida. I am simply doing what in reality is called "piloting" or navigate along the coast using identifiable points on the coast).

Yes, sometimes I get frustrated when sail to my outpost in La Mona o La Orchila because there is no coastline, but in that case the compass is more than enough, and I always arrive close my target, close enough to spot a city and start again "piloting."

In another post on navigation someone wrote about the experience of "getting lost" and not being sure of the position and how such uncertainty actually adds more depth to the game. I totally agree and I hope our devs will never ever put any kind of GPS. Sail people, sail :)

This is not a fast game if you want to go end to end.  Those with less time are advised to set up an outpost in a hotspot and stay near it.

  6. I would not like at all to be scammed in such a manner. Also we know the names of the people who scammed, they are on the chat log KoTiKos posted here. If i were their clan leader I would publicly denounce their scam, and ask anyone else to put them on the ignore list. Ostracism!!!

I would suggest to the developers to create a key word for such transactions. If I want a ship, I have to write in the chat a coded sentence (like in a contract) to be typed by both seller and buyer. Something like "contract proposal" and "contract acceptance" should be written by the two parts, and everything after it is the actual deal.

    For instance:

Buyer: "Contract proposal: I need an exceptional Navy Brig. I will provide the material, and pay the fee of 20,000 gold pieces."

Seller: "Contract acceptance: I will build the ship exceptional Navy Brig at the above mentioned  conditions."

At this point both players make a screen shot of their chat, as evidence of the agreement. If the devs agree to enforce the deal, and provide serious punishments... maybe it could work.

I am sorry for KoTiKos. I think something has to be done.

  7. I have a little suggestion that maybe can hep balancing the conquest game. What if, after a nation conquers any port, the same nation has to maintain an occupation force in the city just conquered. It will mean that to "keep" the town the nation has to commit some forces to it. Maybe some players have to build an outpost, or any other special building to maintain possession. If this is not done, after a period of time, city can go back to a neutral state.

Another solution would be that the conquering nation has to do some upkeep routinely, like maintaining a garrison or something like that, forcing a member of the invading nation to pay for it, or even visit regularly. This system could be further develop if we had a political system. Like a Viceroy,or someone in charge, that can appoint any player to be in charge of a city. It would be up to the player in charge to improve the city, maybe pay taxes to the central government. If a nation has to commit to some kind of upkeep... well it will surely slow down the fast conquest of 3 5 ports every night.

will stop here. But the possibilities are infinite.

  8. Dear Zisme,

the way to judge anyone's behavior already exists. Since, I suppose, all the interactions will be through the chat, there is a permanent record of it. It can be found on: c steam steamapps common Naval Action client_Data ChatLog.

It will be enough that the Devs will save a copy of all the chats to avoid any manipulation of data and that will be it. A traceable documentation of anything happen.I like your idea of a "League on their own" or, as you called it, an Admiralty.

Anyway this is just a suggestion; I am sure that the Devs will have many and better ways to trace any activity on chat channels.

  9. I like everything about this game. Combat is just pure fun, but I am also really interested in exploration and trade. After a good combat session I love just to sail around and check goods prices in ports, or discovering new ports. In other words, combat is fantastic, but I get tired after a while. This is why I voted the esplorer options, just to diversify as much as possible the game...more options more fun.

  10. Respectfully, I never said that I would like to avoid being attacked by someone with the confirmation windows. I agree with you that it will ruin the PVP making it useless. I said that a confirmation windows will be nice when "one is dragged into someone else attack" and not that I would like to avoid being attacked.

I also disagree with the second statement in your first point. If I am sailing on a trader, yes I would like the option NOT to enter someone else battle. What support can I give to my country mate when sailing in a trader?

  11. Ciao Able...

well we kind of have spyglasses. If you unlock the visual with the key "home" you can go ahead your ship (or even sideways) and actually see closer the cities and even THEIR NAMES!! You will be so far away that nobody will even see you!!!

Was so excited when I did it... again with this system no more guessing when navigating. The only thing you need is some point of reference and it is done. Cannot believe I missed that before.

  12. Well... you never stop learning. I just discovered that the key "home" if pressed one time, will unlock the camera. But if you press it a second time you can actually move the camera up, down and sideways and forward (use the key for navigation). Now I can be really high above my ship and even go further while I am navigating (while in such mode you cannot steer the ship btw). So no more problem of getting lost among the islands... you will have always a bird-view of where you are and it is easy to match the location it with the map. A bit unrealistic maybe, but a great way to take shots of your ship :)

  13. I know what does it mean to sail against the wind. I have a little, and simple solution to avoid (as much is possible) getting lost.

Let's suppose I need to go west, and the wind is blowing right in my face. I tackle the wind heading SW. I time myself and let's say after 3 min I veer on NW. Repeat the operation and more or less I stay on a westward course.

I like the navigation system and I hope they will never implement a GPS system!! :)

  14. Well you are right!! If there is a thing that I like the most of the game is navigation. It really makes you feel you are discovering a new world. The satisfaction in the end is to be right were you wanted to be (or close by at least lol). If there is one thing missing, is the possibility to use binoculars in OW... that will make me really happy. So, please, dear developers... can we have it?
