Pls kill the reinforcement zones. Their size are ridicolous and their existence is pure magic. #Killthemagic

"To compensate for the cost of the tow service the reinforcement zones will be slightly reduced around uncapturable cities, to not cover 70% of the upper antilles. "(quoting admin)

Yeah but it's still magic.. And the problem isn't just the antilles.. The British jamaica/pedro cay regions overlap eachother.. Christiansted-Gustavia almost overlap eachother. Mortimer town reduces La Tortue to an insignificant free town that could just be removed if it wasn't a free buffet for the pirates to earn gold in..

I have no idea what "slightly" means, but we`ll see it with introduction of new nations. I guess it might happen tomorrow.

You're magic, wishful thinking is one thing and reality another, it's like back in the day single ships used to hunt in Port Royal every day and get away with it ...

The result is the same, there were navy guard and patrols that was their job, like you have now days as well irl. AI does that in game. Players have no incentives to do that unless it's a clan mate or friend besides that they have better things to do. If you want that you should make it worthwhile for players to just patrol and safeguard their national waters. Besides who jumps in for the new player, single player, small clans, they could be spies for what we know.

Navy guard is an entirely new invention. The patrols were scant and scarce..

Hah! You killing me ;)

I will entertain you just once more.

It was extremely hard to get your hands on a worthwhile ship so nobody in the right mind would do that just to lose it in a foolish attempt to hunt in somebody's national port.

If you managed to capture a ship you would not risk it like that and ,if you did, your crew most likely would throw you overboard. In the case that somebody entrusted it you with a ship you would be hanged if you lose it like that.

How is that for realism?

I would beg to differ. In times of war blockading and patrols, privateering, privateer hunting and such was a very real and widespread thing. Rumors would abound very quickly indeed of any commerce raiders in home waters. The reaction and issuing of letters of mark would be swift. In fact the golden age of piracy spawned from these very same privateers suddenly being out of work at the end of the War of the Spanish Succession. No, pirates and raiders would not pillage at will around capital waters, Charleston perhaps one of few exceptions when Blackbeard blockaded them for a short while. A complicit Governor perhaps to blame for that fiasco.

Further than that large trading conglomerates had their own private armies and navies to protect their interests. The English East India Company being a prime example of such.
