  1. Agreed. It's a nice feature but the blurring get's up too close to the actual battle, so this should be toned down a bit. Mr. Kingtiger says it: An on/off button would be nice.
  2. This was a very good post clarifying this subject and it makes sense. Perhaps we've got a problem knowing when exactly the trees actually block the view. So mabye we need some sort of representation of this: You've got some LOS, but the artillery can't fire.
  3. Well I'm impressed with the new patch! Playing as the North I got a good thrashing in the first three phases on determined and loved every single part of it. Got the initiative back in the last phase and had a ball... No matter what some people say, this wargame veteran - who's played these types of games since my ZX Spectrum 48K back in 1984, where I played Desert Rats and Arnhem - is convinced, that this must be the closest yet to a clever AI. Really, really impressed at the battle lines which the AI makes and challenges me. Way to go boys! (Btw: No crashes this time around)
  4. Oh man ... this wote's a pain as it's really difficult to destinguish between all the AI's. (Every game in this session was confederates) What I can tell though is, that I - for the first time - tried out cautious and opportunist as I earlier on thought those would be boring for a veteran. BUT I was really pleased and impressed by especially the opportunist AI, which I found made for one of the most realistic battles for me to date... Risky made everything go into Chaos with the Union operating behind my lines with no regards as to defending the Victory points! But I have to admit, that it did an effective job of breaking my artillery units in the rear. Also: Had a rare crash in 4th session / 1st day and a AI Union unit frozen at the bottom of the map.
  5. I'm with REB Blunt and David on this one - even on 'cunning' the game's too easy, but changing personalities between phases would help. To be honest I'v haven't played all personalities yet and will return soon to give a fair vote.
  6. It's getting better and better. (Though it's still very fustrating, that my units aren't in the same locations, when I enter next phase) I've made my points earlier so no need to keep on repeating them... One thing which seems to start annoying me is, the if I - by mistake - double click on a general all the units move. I know, that this is one of the new features, but where's the button or method to cancel, when you find out, that evey unit is scelected? As of now it seems that I have to move / click them a Little to 'cancel', and this disrupts the battleformations. --------- By the way Darth: Is it possible, that you could start a thread listing testers requests? This way we could stop repeating subjects/whishes, and perhaps you could make small comments stating, if you're team will put them on a 'to-do' list or if it is not possible / or your decision not to implement.
  7. I simply can't understand why we don't get two possebilities: The current / or the above suggested or as my own which is absolutely great When clicking on a unit: Q = rotate left E = rotate right
  8. Absolutely great news. Flying High Again! Hope this will be the start of something similar to back when I first saw the Shogun: Total War game on a shelf in the local shop back in 2000...
  9. It would be nice, though, if the devs gave us an update once a week. It has been a long time since we've heard anything.
  10. By now - with this much time gone without any response from developers - I think it's fair to assume, that we'll not get included in beta testing, but will have the opportunity to give feedback in the early-acess version.
  11. I think it's safe to say, that Gettysburg game will be be the first step in a whole series IF it succeeds in terms of sales. It will be the platform on which larger games - both scope and AI wise - will be build and we'll probably see loads of updates and patches, which will make the core game even better... So for us old strategy game vets it's damn important, to spread the word and get people buying this game!
  12. Thank you for your reply Fair. To be honest the pausing seems to be somewhat of a emergency solution to a problem, which many of us veteran gamers have pointed out for years: The need to have time to react in a satisfying way - especially as this game seems to have an outstanding AI. As I mentioned in another post recent experiences with the battle-side of (not the campaign part) Rome II Total War has shown just how wrong things can go, if the developer get's this wrong. So this little detail can have a large impact on great parts of the overall experience.
