How does long range accuracy work?

Does it suddenly kick in at a certain range or is it gradual? If so, what range does it begin at and and what range does the bonus max?

It is gradual. It starts from 1,000m and ends in 30,000m. Long range accuracy is very useful as a stat for big guns.

Thanks Nick; for most battles I've found the coincidence rangefinders with small base accuracy boosts to be far more effective than the stereoscopic range finders with long range accuracy boosts, but this is probably because most battles are taking place within 10km.

You can notice the effect of long range accuracy when you hover your cursor on targets/map (and review the accuracy panel). Check how it gradually increases to understand where it gets true benefit.
