Flipping Ports for a Day

Recommended Posts

Introducing, raids!

New idea, remember flags? remember war supplies? I suggest we have raids with these objects that allow you, the player to invade another's nation's port, and hold that port for a single day, or maybe 3 days for some extra cash, OR PERHAPS EVEN.....if you could keep the port as long as you were able to keep up with war supplies and perhaps even provisions?

Why would people do this? What's the incentive to have one of these battles?
Simple, think of it as a staging ground to take the port. First you occupy it through a raid, try to keep it up for as long as you can, then once it flips back over you've already set up buildings, outposts, and other production for when you're ready to have a Port battle for it and take it regularly.

How would the battles work?
How they did before, once a flag is pulled the nation attack and recieving the attack is notified with big letters, "X flag pulled". Players would then gather around the port to defend it once the flag fleet comes around (no not flag carrier, flag fleet) because in order to start pulling a flag you're required to have a BATTLE GROUP, the one with 6+ players and the battle group has to stay open until the flag is planted

From there is a 30 minute time window before a flag can be planted in its spot, in order to prevent and quick flags that are impossible to defend (like revenge gank fleets from port)
Once the flag is pulled it has to be used within a certain distance from a port. Once this distance is met a PB style battle will open with the same PB rules. the goal is to have this battle, not for the flag fleet to get engaged prior, though this can happen, it's encouraged that the flag makes it to it's destination to kick off the second part of the raid where the PB is held. The pb would be basic rules, br will be chosen by attacker at flag pull, small, medium, large. This will determine what ships will be allowed in battle, a smaller battle will yield less personal reward than a big battle. (participants getting a payout of doubloons each for a successful attack, defenders would also get a payout no matter what, the order of payout would go like this

Best  payout                 Good payout               Least payout                No payout

Successful attack>>Successful Defend>Unsuccessful Defend>---Unsuccessful Attack

What does this achieve exactly?

In order to promote more RvR participation, and improve pvp participation there needs to be a sub category between ow pvp and PBs. Raids work the inbetween of immediate pvp, and planning many days for a PB. A raid allows the people who are currently online to form together and create content in that time zone without relying on the luck of the draw player count and activity. PB battles are satisfactory for some but unaccessable to many making them rare. Raids need to come in for the pvp crowd.
