Port Capture mechanics

Recommended Posts

Greetings!

I would like to propose a change into how Port battles are started and also give more then the actual defenders/attackers a purpose.

I suggest that we limit the amount of Port Battles that can be active by simply making it so that the attackers need to amass certain craft able objects to make a "Flag", thus making it so lower ranked players can feel they are contributing to the attack/defence and also make it harder for single players to buy flags just to hinder others from doing it.

This would require grading the ports into different classes to measure what kind of defense is present and also what objects are needed for making the "Flag". This would make attacks more costly ofc, But attackers would also get such objects from winning a Port battle instead of the 1500 coal you get that you cannot transport home as your warship has limited storage.

This would also allow defending players to invest in the defence of a port to upgrade it to make it more costly to attack it.

Not to mention it will also be beneficial in removing money/labor hours from the players and thus reducing inflation.

Scenario

(Clan A wants to attack a port far away from the enemy capital. It was recently captured and thus have little defences implemented and few warships stationed in harbour. They will need to gather provisions, gunpowder and men for the attack. They start a Attack Plan and the members start to contribute materials and crafted objects like cannons/ barges etc. 6 hours later all requirements are fulfilled and enough players are online to launch the attack. Ofc they could change the plans for another port if needed but that would give penalties to the materials gathered to prevent clans from always having a attack plan ready. They could ofc pile materials but would require a Plan before being able to dedicate it and thus making it harder to completely wipe out a smaller nation in a short period of time.)

This would also allow others to contribute from outside the clan. Perhaps allowing word to reach the owner of the port and thus enabling to them to counter the attack.

This idea ofc needs work and I do not know what changes are planned already nor if this idea suits those changes.

With regards
