  1. @admin - appreciate the fact that you guys are working on it. That alone is good enough for me 🙂. If you will need a specific combo of graphical settings for me to test, let me know and i can publish you the results in an unlisted video for troubleshooting reasons. Let me know if i can help 🙂

I am aware of the workaround, but can not roll back drivers, due to metro: exodus RTX update being the one for me in later driver, and needing newer driver for some other games, but I will patiently wait for the update.

  2. Hi,

Ever since last 2 NVIDIA Driver updates (419.something) i had graphical issues with my RTX 2080 cards in the rigging. I tried various settings Shadows, vsync, anti-aliasing, nothing helps.

Can you please see that this is resolved before release, here is a vide of the issue and i would be happy to provide more on request

The bigger the ship, the worse the issue. On Endymion it is durable, on Christian it was almost unplayable

  3. The screens look great and the concept on paper sounds awesome.

Is there a chance for media to sign-up to preview this game, and if so please consider me interested.

I would love a chance to show it on my Youtube channel (when it will be ready to be shown, regardless if it is a month, year, or several years down the line).

(just in case there will be a list this is my mail: info@grunfworks.com )

  4. Agree with both of you,

Age does not define maturity, actions and behavior do. So keep it cool, remember that this is a game, and we are all here to have fun. If you are beaten, learn from it and congratulate the winner, as both of you will enjoy sparring the next time as well. Your current opponent might be your teammate in the next fight.

My point is, be a good person, and then age is just a number, regardless if it is just right, low or high :-)

I enjoyed playing a match with you Timo, and will for sure play more :-)

  5. A tutorial on how to sail with manual sails in Naval Action game with a twist. I am showing this on an actual learning  tool that the sailors of that period were using to learn the art of manual sails.

The Mariner's Compass was graciously borrowed to me by a friend Zeljko Skomersic who has an impressive naval collection of model ships that you can view in the following video:

  6. Hi Admin,

This is extremely disappointing to me as it was the main thing I was looking forward to of any of the changes. The most fundamental. The most game changing. The most unique with the most possibility to allow different ships to be useful and variation of game play more that rock paper scissors. This would have made people think about the conditions they were sailing in and how their ship would need to react. To sail or not etc. To have a SOL catch a frigate in gale conditions would be magnificent and to have an SOL have trouble moving against a frigate in light wind conditions similarly encourage frigate play.

I understand that this would be a new concept for some players and they might not understand, leading to ignorantly bad reviews. If you are worried about it before release there is no way I can see it getting in after release as it would affect all and would also mean that a fundamental change like this after release would be seen as changing the product too much for some people that would demand money back.

Also is their any non-invasive system coming to make sure people take all ship types that will not include mucking around with historical ship data to change it constantly to try to achieve a role for every ship and balance for all the hundreds of ships that I hope will come? EDIT: Sorry that is the crew system I guess.

On the topic of wind speed affecting travel, I love the idea and I think it necessary to be a part of the game as it was as important as having land in battles. Having just came from a long period of absence, and playing in battles with land now, feels so right that almost i dont remember how it was before. Do not let get discouraged by vocal minority. So far your vision for the game was bang on, and do take suggestions but keep vision and realism. There might come a rough patch with testing until the values get right but in the long run i believe it would benefit the game.

EDIT: Read the rest of the thread - 100% agree on the prios, I was just under impression that this might not happen as opposed to being downprioritized (downprio is fine, not happening would be sad)

@admin - Regarding the testing and polishing - why are there is no more Betas under steam (like OW was before the release), that would allow the devs to upload more experimental patches that the players can try out without much consequence. ?

Also, does introduction of Land in port battles mean that we will see proper fortresses put somewhere on land in town ?

  7. Why not let people use their favorite ship with chasers in pvp under right weather condition. I like my boat , but now it doesn't have chasers, so I am forced to take some other one I don't enjoy sailing. Why:?

How about making it so that for those ships that do not have chasers, there is gunnery equipment: Chaser Guns Fittings that allows you to add 2 chaser guns of the top deck calibre. (note you still have to buy chaser guns)

It takes 1 upgrade slot but enables relevant chaser slot.

You could have Bow Chaser Gun fittings and Stern Chaser gun fittings. For those that already have the chasers you could either make that it adds nothing, or that it Still adds 2 cannons, depending on the balancing.

I think this would give a lot of flexibility and customization options, while still retaining a tradeoff in terms of consuming an upgrade slot.

(Imagine Essex with bow and stern chasers but 2 upgrades slots taken). I find it to be a fair trade.

That way you still preserve ship individuality but give more customization options

  8. Because it makes the conquest part of Naval Action worthless.  How can I deny an enemy nation resources if I must do it on three different servers simultaneously?  What's the point of trying to blockade a port if you can just change servers and sail in or out at will?

I believe i might have used the wrong term

I was thinking that the user's fleet, items, XP, and money are persistent across servers of the same type, (i.e. DayZ), but only XP synced between PvE and PvP. Hm, that being said you are providing my major problem with DayZ, so fair point.

What about GuildWars solution (if I am not mistaken), you queue for your main server, but during the wait are playing as guest on some other till your queue is up, if you then choose to leave ONLY XP, MONEY gained during the guesting session is added to main server. If you choose to remain on the guest server, then what you do will be stored there as it is now. Also there could be restriction that you can not guest 2x within 2hrs or more.

Just trying to come up with an idea to avoid waiting in queues for my favorite server.

  9. Hi Brigand, any chance of getting that excell sheet for download.

I was thinking of making a youtube series with discussing ships, so id like to add few more info into it before i start commenting.

Will give full credits of course as to source of the info. Let me know if it would be OK

  10. Admin, have the youtube posting rules changed or is it now OK to cover the game from the very beginning (i.e. open world starting with lynxes and yachts) ?

I did some videos at the times of sea trials but stopped at open world release due to rules, (and RL issues not having time to level up)

Given that early access is coming, i'd like to have some videos prepared (bot combat and open world wise) ?

Congrats on the launch, and waiting eagerly to play and stream it ;-)

  11. Not technically flags ensigns or banners, but last week i went to Boston and naturally i visited USS Constitution including the museum, so i noticed that she had multiple figureheads, here are the ones i saw in museum

@admin - will those also be put in the game ?

  12. I would also say no to randomization of magazine explosions. I would say yes to:

    • randomized fire on a ship (perhaps), or alternatively some tiny hitboxes like lanterns, or galley, that if hit have a probability to start fire
    • fire that spreads and does significant damage to sails if they catch fire.
    • very lucky bow rake (when magazine is exposed) - say smaller ships, or stormy seas a guy in Constitution (which is on the bottom of the wave) sails just in front of nose of Santi (who is on top of the wave), thus exposing magazine to a rake. In this case, skill would pay off (however at a great risk due to shockwave / burning debris catching Constitution sails)
    • alternatively fire could start as a result of heated shot from a fort (in rare occasions with biggest forts that would have heated shot capability). In those cases the fire probability would be quite high if a cannonball hits the ship (due to them being difficult to extinguish)

...however, practically I am not sure how quickly explosions could be put in the game, as doing so would require modeling of damage states (and explosions) for the ships (as opposed to texture changes where cannonballs hit at the moment), which is very high amount of work for a rare (however gratifying though) scenario.

Fire, on the other hand might be much simpler

  13. any swedish ships?

In another thread Månis posted several, but not 100% according to criteria.

    Here is the link

    http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/2498-player-selected-ship-2015/page-5#entry53031

I like the one under 4, Kung Adolf Fredrik (1775)  A 70-gun Ship of the line

It would give Bellona run for her money

Below is the link to the wiki for the Swedish designer of ships during that period:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fredrik_Henrik_af_Chapman

Note that the wiki entry in swedish has better ship list (so wiew the page, then select swedish text) :)

  14. There is so many to choose from, but from a Swedish point of view maybe some of theese ships would be interesting?

    5. Öland (1681) a 56-gun Ship of the line. ( Ignore the english gankers )

Alternatively: Götheborg - Swedish East Indianman launched in Stockholm 1738. 30-gun, crew of 144
